This chapter was fun even though I had already read the spoilers. In particular I enjoyed Pellegarde, Tristan and Percival reacting to Gawain's tantrum in different ways. Some readers are probably upset that Gawain is not a cool badass and all, but I think this is a good way to handle her character and to very clearly distinguish her from Escanor. She has a lot of room for character growth over the course of the series. I also liked that Galand was brought back through Melascula's necromancy rather than him getting outright resurrected by Arthur. I'm not opposed to the concept of resurrection in principle, but it can get out of hand very quickly if it's too easily accomplished. Elaine needing the combination of an intact body, her soul being summoned back into it and then being given the seemingly one-of-a-kind Fountain of Youth to restore her life force was an appropriate way to handle her revival I think.
The mechanics behind it aside, it's nice to see Galand and Melascula again, even if I'm a little bit concerned about the possibility of Nakaba recycling former enemies becoming a trend in the sequel. I also don't get why she says "grant us new life" and "brethren souls wandering in Purgatory" when she was never dead to begin with and was just summoning Galand. Why the plural? Anyway, I'm very curious about how this fight is going to go. Percival still hasn't had a showdown with his dad and we just saw Gawain losing to Pellegarde, so I don't expect the focus to move away from the holy knights just yet. It's possible that Tristan and Lancelot could be massively stronger than the other two, but I kind of doubt it. The former TC members seem more like a way to keep Meliodas and the other Sins busy while the youngsters deal with the human enemies. That said, the FKOTA fighting the kids could be interesting given all the connections between the two groups. Gawain's predecessor kicked both of their asses, Lancelot's father destroyed some of their hearts and Tristan is the product of two people this duo despises. There's some potential for amusing interactions there.
Lastly we also have this mystery character. If they really do know Liones better than anyone in Camelot, then that should mean that this is a familiar face and perhaps even the traitor, but they could also be the assassin. In theory their familiarity with Liones should give us a clue about their identity, but things get confusing when you look at this person's height. I initially thought that maybe Melascula is just really short, but it turns out that she's 154cm(5'1"), plus some extra if she's levitating like she usually does. The cloaked figure next to her is about 1.5 times her height, so roughly 230cm(7'7") if not more. That's massive. The only characters related to Liones I can think of that are even remotely close to that are Ban, Griamore and Slader at about 210cm(about 7 feet). Some people have brought up Merlin as a possibility since she can levitate and thus appear much taller than she actually is, but that actually seems to disprove the idea because we see the cloaked figure leap over the crowd. Merlin always either levitates or teleports instead of exerting herself physically. Plus I'm not sure she's even a human to begin with given that her real name is supposed to be impossible for humans to pronounce. Jericho is another popular option, but she's barely taller than Melascula, unless she's been mutated to hell and back like Ordo. I feel like the best candidates are probably Deathpierce, who is fairly tall, and Arden, who used to be very short but had grown to about the same height as Deathpierce by the time Tristan was born. Their heights still aren't quite there, but they at least have a motive for betraying Liones, although you'd think Deathpierce would have already been dealt with during the events of the Edinburgh movie.
I wonder if the one with Hendy is Vivian? Or maybe he got a wife at last?
Their relationship must be on the rocks if his wife refers to him as "sir". Poor Hendy was not meant for romance.
Rereading again, they aren't really here to fight. What could they be looking for?
I don't remember but has the identity of the Goddess in the Horn of Cernunnos ever been confirmed? Maybe that's what they want. Although I think it would be a bit weird.
Maybe they want to kill Bartra to get rid of the Vision?
The Horn was destroyed by Meliodas in the short special anime series meant to fix some of the continuity errors in season 1 in preparation for season 2. Nakaba apparently supervised that stuff so I'd assume it was canon, but who knows.
