Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Jep, you're right there, the date of the mag is a month ahead of the actual release, the same goes for WSJ for example, and faster than a chapter per month won't be happening, wouldn't be good, cause the AW-quality would drop as would the length of each chapter, I mean this is a common releaserythm, if you're reading Seinen, I know, CM is Shonen, but it is really close to the boarder of Seinen, but hey, I'm writing too much.
So my point is just, that it won't be released faster than one chapter per month and the next chapter will be releases at the beginning of june.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

After the latest chapter, I'm thinking the 7 plus 3's goal now is to beat the organization and making the known continent into a country breaking away from the bigger nation...

and now we will have a 3 ways conflict..
yeah that's what i was thinking too.
anyway, they have Galatea and Clarice. I have a feeling that clarice is a prototype of the "eye". So instead of sensing far away yoma, she will be able to see yoma energy but its kinda overkill since Galatea is there already.

I don't see, why Clarice of all Claymores should be the new eye/prototype of the new eye?
Imo she's just a failed Claymore, whose only feature/meaning is to keep Miata under control, she's ridiculous weak and has shown no abilities in sensing youmaenergy very well. While Clare's group now has Miata, Galatea & Tabitha for the Sensingdepartment there is imo no other addition needed.

Miata is too unstable to play a major role. And i think there is an importance/advantage to Clarice not being silver-eyed and blonde. She is a lame character right now, as was Clare in the past.

Truly Clarice is a mystery to me. I'm betting she'll really have some surprises for us. She's too odd. Although I can't come up with any good theories as to how kick-ass she might be, but I'm guessing that she'll be quite strong. The advantage not only being that she can go without cover as a normal citizen, but that she may be an important key to some experiment, or might be able to explain how Clare is so strong even as only 1/4 yoma.

I don't think that how much of a yoma a claymore is determines her strength, because the yoma energy is only the raw strength of a claymore and the real important thing is her skill in controlling her power...:D
every time Clare levelled up was after a special or long training.

Dont you think the source of the power is a factor? What if some of them were given Awakened Being flesh instead of yoma flesh, it would explain why some of them are inherently stronger than others like Priscilla.

anyway. did you guys read the extra scenes? that was awesome. lots of background infos. i cant stop re-reading it especially the fight between Priscilla and Eisley of the North.

Actually I think it's just a combination of talent and will power. Clare's friend Elena said that what's most importand for a claymore is a strong human will...

Hey,

I just finished reading Claymore, started slow but picked up really well.

I have a question, if not asked before; Even though the Ghost Claymores(Clare and her group) are the most powerful ones, do you think they are outdated? Since there is a new breed of Claymores around(twins and such)?

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

I think the time skip was too long, but they are not outdated. first, because the twins are from the same generation of the ghost, and second because there is simply no match for them yet..
A comeback just make it more exciting imo.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Why would they've been outdated? Claymore's grow, but don't get older, and they either die because they awaken or if they're killed in Battle, so why would they be outdated? Nonetheless, they don't use any youmaenergy, so they won't excaust it either. So there's just no way, that they're outdated.
The twins haven't gotten any opponent to match theire power so far, even the abbyssal ones aren't able to fight them, for now only Priscilla and Riful (with a little help of a manipulating youma type warior) would be able to match them imo.

But I really don't understand, why the TS was too long? I mean, come on, Raki got to be grown up, to be Clare'e lover, or not? xD I'm okay with the seven years TS, cause now we're able to see a whole new generation of Claymores, also we're able to see, how weak the new claymores are (except for Alicia, Beth and Miata).

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Nice that there's a claymore board here...79 was maybe the most abrupt plot reimagining/redirectioning that I've ever seen in a manga. That being said, I didn't mind the direction, just felt the justification was weak.

A question: Going with the "creation of a weapon" thread, they say the weapon can't be controlled. This would imply youma, since claymores can obviously be controlled for generations. But the claymores have also been able to defeat all but the most powerful awakened, and there is an implication that their swords were made to cut the dragons. So why continue to let youma run wild? They could extort cash in a more direct way, if they liked. Particularly when the only strong youma were formerly claymores...

I guess the core question is this: are the claymores the end game or the awakened? And either way you answer that, is there any reason to assume that alicia/beth have NOT been utilized as soldiers on the main continent?

Well claymores as they are now are not what the organization is looking for, claymores can take out awaken ones but usually as a group and they are unable to defeat the strongest ones besides that claymores usually awake after a while or during a tought fight meaning they would be quite unreliable on a battlefield. The organization is looking for something closer to beth/alicia very strong and easier to control thats why the yomas are still there the organization havent finished their studies besides getting twins to make more beth/alicia alikes would be pretty hard so i guess they are looking for another solution.

My guess, is the end goal of the organization is somewhere in between claymores and the awakened, a controllable and stable awakened being. An ideal represented by Beth and Alicia, something that achieves maximum combat power and is still controllable.

There is one reason that makes me think that Alicia and Beth are unlikely to have been used on the main continent yet. The travel time. The mainland must be a fairly great distance away if no one has found it yet. So if the organization was attacked while they were away by any one of the abyssal ones, it would probably mean certain destruction for the organization. So, for the purpose of maintaining control of their experiment, I suspect the organization has kept Alicia and Beth on the current continent the entire time.

But in that case, why won't the Org abandon the island? that's the only thing I don't understand.. if they have their perfect product- Alicia and Beth, than they have no reason to protect the island anymore and they can just let the abbysal ones have it.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

That's because Alicia/Beth is just the prototype. One of them just isn't enough. They have to be able to create some kind of semi-awakened claymore like them, but they have to be able to make more of them in order to really influence the sway of the war. Sending your prototype directly into battle is not a wise course of action, and should only be done as something of a last resort.
