- No, none of those are for the new theme, I didn't know the theme yet when I made those~
I was thinking maybe working with a 3D sphere for this new theme~

Oh, so you can use your savegame from the first one? What carries over? This is interesting, and wow, I didn't realize it came out this week. I'm pumped now. I'm just doing the Urn of Sacred Ashes Quest. I love fighting the Dragon!

Im trying to work on my smudge work, I can do a certain type of it awesome, but the type where you smudge the render into the background, I cant quite get~

I tried that technique and I didn't like it. It really limits the effects you can add on top of the smudging... It's not that hard, you just have to find a fitting brush and play around with the smudging options, also, try and duplicate your layer many times and smudge them (the upper ones are less smudged than the bottom ones). This is one way of doing it... But it'll be better for you if you find your own method.
But for me, it's always like this: the more you smudge, the less stuff you can add afterwards.

Maybe you should make a sig involving the game, and linking it to the new theme, so that UR passion would reignite and get the second installment

Sure.

Since we just did a special type of contest in the same render contest, I would not want to do another until next season at the earliest, but if you guys think that there will be more interest in partnering up (last time, there were only two submissions ), then I will do it.

So, I would like to hear from others on this matter if you would want another paired submission contest, i.e., you would have to work with someone else on your submission.

Also, if you actually do want to do another paired submission contest, please try to suggest a theme that has something to do with this concept. For the last paired submission contest, the theme was collaboration. (I was thinking of reintroducing this idea for next Valentine's Day with a "couple" theme, but I shall save that for later.) Others that comes to mind as a theme are "double," "two," and "twin," but if you have some ideas of your own, please share them too.

I think another pair contest is a great idea! A possible theme,could be "contract" for the contest. Anyway,I think there will be more submissions than the last one.

@ Coffee : Nice work. I say 3 more smudge signatures for you to master the damn thing. But you noticed how simple they look -_- makes the sig... how should I put it... less professional?

I don't think it makes your sigs look less professional. It depends on how you use it and implement it into your sigs. Sometimes it's nice to use that smudge effect to make the sig look cooler, you know with the "swoooshes" xDDD!

I like the way Coffee's used the smudge technique so far~ Using the effect to mask and blend it in with the background is the best way forward imo.

When you're making a signature, you should think about the people who don't know how to use photoshop (the majority). For us, the sig is clearly well done. Because we know how much effort the artist put into making it (especially when the stupid damn smudging doesn't go the way you want it to). But for others, it looks "easy" And I'm not sure if this the right way to describe it :S it sounds odd -_- But I'm sure you understand what I meant.

That's true and I understand what you mean but I honestly don't see it as making the sig look bad, weak or less attractive. If the viewers like the sig or feel that the smudge technique looks easy to apply than it doesn't really matter as long as it appeals to them. Once they do try it for themselves they'll know the real deal~

It's best to use examples for this but I'm just being lazy. =_= Anyway, there are many sigs and fan arts that I've seen where the "artist" has over used the smudge technique; which most of the time downgrades the overall quality of the picture. It can get really tricky to use when your trying to apply it in several different ways in just one art piece/signature. Meh. That's just my 2 cents.

I think this week's theme is even harder than the damn same render theme. It's going to be a welcoming challenge to see what I come up with for this one. I want to forget about my previous submission. >< Oh and I need to pay a visit to Coffee's gallery and choose which one of his signatures I want to mess up. Fun fun fun~~

Its not that smudges stop you from adding more to the sig and make it look less "simple" - Its just that its slightly more difficult to add things in and still have it look good~
