lol, even if AOC was eligible I am sure the democrat establishment would rather have have trump as president than AOC as VP...
Maybe they think that, assuming the average voter only sees her as not being white or a guy and assumes that automatically makes her appear like a progressive. To me she looks more like a pick meant to appease progressives
Definitely, but maybe Biden's desire to win is stronger than the Dems' hatred of socialismlol, even if AOC was eligible I am sure the democrat establishment would rather have have trump as president than AOC as VP...
Yes, but there wouldn't have been any other option. After everything that's happened, having a person of color had become a priority... After seeing the shortlist, Harris was an obvious choice because of her moderate and some progressive values mixed with her experience as a prosecutor.I think Biden chose her more because she's a woman of color more than because she's a moderate... but then again, he could have gone with Ilhan or AOC so you're probably right.
I don't think that'll happen. If Trump loses his supporters will just riot and cause a shitstorm, but there won't be much change, if any.
Well, Democrats can easily screw up and the left inclined are people with diverse set of values and idealogies... One statement can sway them away, but Trump has screwed things so much in the pandemic so it definitely increases the possibility of Biden winning.... If not, he would still have a chance any statement equating to "full of deplorables" can upset a lot of people and move them away.....Even without the pandemic I can't imagine biden not being favored to win. Trump has been historically unpopular from day one. I suppose trump has gotten slightly more unpopular over the pandemic but... it's still concerning that it is only by this much. The race as those numbers suggest will be close.... And screwing up is pretty much democrats modus operandi at this point. It's why a half senile gaffe machine is running...
I think Biden at an early stage had annouced that he would pick a female as a nominee... with BLM movement getting stronger, Warren and Kloubacher, who otherwise were more likely to be picked were out of contention and then the other names thrown weren't as well known.... I thought Susan Rice would have been great, even Sammy Duckworth.. and would have if this were a normal election. But they cannot rally at the same level, they would need familiarlity so Harris was the best choice.Honestly, I don't even like how democrats handled the VP pick. From day one the rhetoric was about picking a women from a minority... But why frame this this way? Wouldn't it have been better to go with a more standard "We are looking at the best possible candidate" and then simply pick kamala? The look that they simply skipped over males to select kamala is just plain bad. representation is important and generally a good thing but the point should be that if someone in a minority is in a position its because said person was as good or better than none minority people. Now if kamala becomes VP it will have been due to a process where he didn't beat a single non minority male. Trump and republicans are unhinged lunatics but democrats are dumb...
As far as the deplorables bit goes... That didn't hurt hillary with her base. It hurt her with people that wouldn't have voted for her anyways. She should have doubled, tripled and quadruple down on that rather than apologize for something that is true which actually hurt her with her base.Well, Democrats can easily screw up and the left inclined are people with diverse set of values and idealogies... i dont mean it literally, but Yea, but it didnt help her case... THe point is Biden is capable of gaffs like that and the media can paint a negative image... a lot of people dont think hes a good candidate anyways....As far as the deplorables bit goes... Well, these are special circumstances... the pandemic had already hit around the time Biden was the offiical nominee and BLM followed shortly. So person of color had already become important. Add the disappointment thousands of woman felt when Kloubacher and Warren dropped from the race, and Warren even made comments on how woman will have to wait for the next female leader, it was about keeping the momentum on. Besides, i would argue that none of the major male candidates from colored background deserve to be considered, Pete Buttigeg would be the only one i can think of, but he is not colored and doesnt have the same level of experience.Yeah, he did. But that is kinda the problem I have with this, I would argue handling it that way is just bad politics. Since realistically speaking not one male was considered against harris. To me there is a case to be made that it would have been better if there was at least the appearance that she beat white males because she was simply deemed to be better than them.
I still think the gaff in that case was that she backtracked on it. She was absolutely 100% right and she just allowed the media to steam roll her when she apologized... And sure, biden has been barfing gaffs for decades... and there is a very real chance of him going into overdrive now. I would agree with him not being a good candidate. Better than trump of course (though that applies to literally any non qanon politician or ted cruz) and better than hillary at least (a super low bar).i dont mean it literally, but Yea, but it didnt help her case... Look at all the possible angles, Harris would make the most sense.
Well i mean from those who were running on the presidential ticket.... And i dont think he's a bad mistake, but i am not aware for his history with racism.... He's a good candidate from what i know and fits the moderate policies better than most, but his youth plays against him...ete buttigieg? I would see him as a worst mistake than tim kayne tbh. Corporate hack and has a history of racism... He'd be so easy to rip apart. But still, there never was any discussion regarding how kamala holds up against her male peers. Democrats would have a stronger and more inclusive message if they could say "you know what, we considered her against a bunch of white males, against a bunch of colored males, against a bunch of white females and against a bunch of colored females and we ultimately decided that kamala was uniquely qualified among all of those to be the VP".
She has issues, yes.... Like i said before, i think her approach to most progressive policies dont seem genuine... But no other candidate check marks as many columns / points as she does... even her experience with Biden's son could've played a pivotal role....still think the gaff in that case was that she backtracked on it. Well, sure, but none of those presumably lesser qualified people were considered. By all appearances there was never a discussion of her merits against that of other males, neither by people, by the media an more importantly by the democrat party.
Didn't Biden promise to choose a woman of color, though?Yes, but there wouldn't have been any other option. After everything that's happened, having a person of color had become a priority... Ilhan and AOC were never in contention, nor do they have political experience.
IIRC buttigieg had the blandest most substance free campaign of all candidates that gave the appearance of having a shot. Can't even remember him standing for anything tbh...Well i mean from those who were running on the presidential ticket.... On your quoted sentence, i completely agree with that... They could've presented it better, but honestly at this point, it would sound pretentious and fake.. its better this way..
alright, i felt the opposite but hey, i guess its a difference in the way we look at things and its a subjective thing so i get it... its been long now so i will have to look up stuff to quote it, not worth the time for someone who is irrelevant...IRC buttigieg had the blandest most substance free campaign of all candidates that gave the appearance of having a shot. I mean, what they are doing looks fairly pretentious and fake too. Just with the added spice of bad politics.
That may be but... not really my point. If anything, that makes this even more of a waste. As in, if kamala was just THAT good compared to other males then from a democratic perspective it would have been better to actually have that discussion. Because the discussion would have shown kamala being that good... (if the assumption is correct).anyways, i couldnt still think of any other male candidate.
Yea, you are right, they could've done a better job to justify why she was selected.... I am sure she is credible enough and its not just her race or being a woman that she got elected....That may be but... not really my point. If anything, that makes this even more of a waste. There are so many people who don't understand what that was and Headlines like this don't help either.
Just look at the replies to this and you can see why this country is where it is right now
Well it does certainly help feed liberal brainrot, that's for sure. One could be conspiratorial about it perhaps, but there probably is some intern running their twitter that is just that dumb. There are so many people who don't understand what that was and Headlines like this don't help either.
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity " as much as I enjoy conspiracy theories it still looks more like disgusting clickbait than anything else. It's just tragic how the retraction probably reaches half as many people as the initial statement.Well it does certainly help feed liberal brainrot, that's for sure.
