I was talking about since the pandemic started, as Sanity wants to blame the vaccine mandate when in reality, the fault lies with companies and with people who choose not to get vaccine for losing their jobs. Not to mention, the vaccine mandate isn't that much different from the vaccines we had to get when we were in school, in the US anyway.
Ah, the vaccine mandate stuff is definitely just some political mumbo jumbo that has little to do with anything. Still, the labor crisis in the US is very real, going strong, AND happening at a particularly bad time as it is combining with multiple other simultaneous crisis. Backlogs at the US are only getting worst and I would guess they compound to the inflation (which would be happening regardless because the world's distribution systems are still on fire).

Also, 3 days of deliberation on the Rittenhouse case. I thought this was more clear cut enough that it wouldn't take that long.

big companies keep getting loans but still lay off workers, like some airline companies

Can I summarize the positions of @xi0 @ninjabot @M3J and @kkck

As wanting to tax, punish, nationalize or kill big american corporations. Lay off millions of americans for not complying with vaccine mandates. Put billionaires like Elon Musk in gas chambers.

As none of you understand how it would negatively affect job markets and the US economy?

Not to mention how it would drastically reduce your own standard of living?

Even if you happened to be the best criminal and thief in the world, you'll eventually run out of other peoples stuff to steal. Then you'll end up starving with nothing. Just like everyone else.

It is, but I don't blame workers for that at all. Wealthy companies with huge profits can certainly increase salaries without an issue, but they refuse to. And many companies claiming they're looking to hire are refusing to hire for some reason (but I theorized it's to force people to accept less pay and fewer benefits), while complaining about people not wanting to work (probably propaganda to prevent workers from getting support).

Most of the labor issues can be resolvable if the government and businesses want it to be. No reason why they can't pay people livable wage.

Ok, a few points:

Nationalize corporations? When have I said anything even resembling that? I obviously do not support that. I don't even dislike musk per say, I just don't believe everything he says is magic (and that he unfortunately suffers from believing in his own hype...).

Also, it's absurd mumbo jumbo that taxing corporations and billionaires on a progressive tax bracket that gets up to about 40-ish % is punishment. The US has had had tax cut after tax cut for the past 40 years and what has that gotten the country? How much of reagan's tax cuts trickled down? How much did bush's do? did they trickle down when obama extended bush's tax cuts? Did trump tax cuts trickle down? Which tax cut during the past 40 years has resulted in such an investment boom that the government actually increased the money it collected for spending in basic stuff like infrastructure or public education? When has a tax cut trickled down into wages and resulted in a long term wage increase?

Heck, the situation at the US is so utterly absurd that trump ran on infrastructure.... but then did jack shit about it because he passed his tax cuts and then there wasn't any money for infrastructure left. A reasonable tax system is necessary for any country to function.. And the US has nothing even resembling that.

There's plenty of blame to go around, to me that part is a non issue. That said, I don't think it's as easy as that. In a sane system you have something like wages and income increasing as a country's productivity increases. It's a gradual process. On the other hand what the US has is workers withholding labor at the same time as a number of other crisis's which are driving inflation up. Which is actually a big shock. Sure, some businesses can actually afford this but it's a pretty big assumption that all of them can. Just as the country is barely walking out of a pandemic while the world's supply chains are still collapsed. Optimistically the supply chain bit might be at it's worst right now and will see improvement some 7-8 months from now (though I don't see normalcy on the horizing tbh).

The wage situation in the US is the result of 40-50 years of bad policy... it probably won't be solved as easily or as quickly as your post would suggest.

Unfortunately the billionaire and donor class has tunnel vision when it comes to wages. Sure, if your company pays less wages than others it's going to be more profitable. But... what if every company pays less wages? You crush the middle class and suddenly people have to get in debt to pay for your shit.

You guys don’t? How do you guys maintain the vaccination data, then?
They still ask for IDs, but the difference is if you don't have one or refuse to show it, they can't refuse to give you the vaccine. They would still have a record of you getting a vaccine based on whatever name you gave, I suppose.

Indeed, I want to LITERALLY kill Elon Musk by PUNISHING the richest man on Earth into paying more than 3% tax on his earnings. You figured me out. I guess I don't hide it very well.

But to be serious, no, I'm not going to hold most billionaires in high regard given that it's probably unlikely that a single one of them made their money without exploiting others. That's a moral argument btw, I think most people who aren't sociopaths are aware of how the sausage is made, and still participate in society despite this sort of economical arrangement. When there isn't much difference between the standing a monarch had/has compared to what multi-billionaires have today... well, at least the monarch could say they were anointed by god. :lulzobito

And yeah, I still feel that way despite someone maybe being very forward-thinking in regards to technology, tweeting about weeb shit and owning the libs. Sorry, I guess I'm petty.

- "Billionaires should pay taxes"
- "Oh, so you're in support of genocide???"

Responses like these bring up the "Ignorant or Dishonest?" question in my mind. It's like Chicken or Egg, but even more confusing.

The US dollar is the foundation of world commerce.

Learn what de dollarization is.

...

De-dollarization: The revolt against the dollar and the rise of a new financial world order Paperback – August 26, 2019

The dollar's status as the world's preeminent currency, together with the U.S. military, has underlain American power since World War II. In a sweeping review of one of the most seminal yet least noticed developments in international affairs, Gal Luft and Anne Korin describe how an emerging coalition of revisionist countries, rogue governments, techno-visionaries and sanctioned entities, buttressed by innovations like blockchain and 5G, are working to push the dollar off of its reserve currency throne. It would not be the first time. Preceding the dollar, five consecutive currencies, each belonging to a superpower of the time, ruled the markets. Each predominated for roughly 80-100 years, and as it tumbled to irrelevance it accelerated the decline of the empire behind it.Are we due for a rerun? The slow moving shift from the dollar may be the single most important factor determining the future of American power. Arresting this trend will require Americans to make tough choices.Luft and Korin are co-directors of the Washington, DC-based Institute for the Analysis of Global Security (IAGS).

Frank Castle Jr. walked. I can only hope he learned to stay home next time some cops shoot a black person and riots start.

Failing that, protestors gotta start arming up.

Not surprised that Kyle got off, and I'm sure the judge made it so that the jurors would see him as a harmless kid. What's scary is that this will likely set off a precedence where all it'll take is a white supremacist damaging something and causing riots, where people "defending" buildings and whatnot can shoot at BLM protesters and claim self-defense.

Nah, the judge ultimately wasn't the issue here. Not even the jurors. The trial went exactly as it should have gone and the result is the correct one. Kyle in fact had both the law and the facts on his side. Which is the scary part.

The judge's treatment helped make Kyle look better though.

What facts? He crossed a state line illegally carrying a gun to a place where he knew there'd be civil unrest. At no point can anyone think he had good motive or reason for being there, other than to shoot people.

Federal overreach. Clearly state's rights should protect citizens who want to kill people in another state.

I can see facts have little value to you seeing as you feel your opinion is more important.

Anywho, 100% of the people that DIDN'T attack Kyle weren't shot at by him.

And 100% of other people there counter-protesting, legally carrying, shot no one.

Doesn't matter, he had no business carrying a gun or being there in the first place. That's a fact, not an opinion, and if he didn't have a gun, would he have been attacked?

No, you have ZERO facts straight.

- the gun didn't cross state lines with Kyle (like you claimed)
- in fact it was kept, in-state, where Kyle did target practice (like a responsible gun-user) with its owner, his friend
- in fact the gun charges were dropped prior to the verdict because the law is a little hazy with near-adults and gun-barrel length in that state, but at worst is a misdemeanor
- Kyle had EVERY reason to be there:
- his father lived there
- Kyle lived, worked, played in that area. To wit; he was a lifeguard in Kenosha county
- Kyle was INVITED there to help

- Moreover, Kyle doesn't have to justify his presence any more than anyone else that was present - many with weapons

You're last question is ridiculous. Who the hell knows? A crowd, older, larger, and more armed, thought it was smart to run down and attack a visibly-armed person. I'd assume they would have done MORE if he were unarmed.

Beyond that, nothing else matters considering this was a clear-cut example of self-defense. Everything else is reaching on your part around the periphery but doesn't change the core of what happened.

Try again.

Hypothetically, if I stood outside your house in the street with a high-powered semi-automatic rifle, would you feel threatened by my presence? You wouldn't know whether I'm a member of law enforcement or the military, because you don't know who I am. You'd be able to go about your day not giving me a second thought?

The first person killed by Rittenhouse was a mentally ill person who had just been discharged from a psychiatric hospital the same day. Like a mentally ill person, he sought Rittenhouse out because he had a gun and told Rittenhouse to shoot him. When he became aggressive with him, Rittenhouse did just that. The rest of the people he shot attacked him because they heard he shot someone and thought he was a threat, a mass shooter.

If Rittenhouse didn't have that gun, would any of this happened?
