Yeah, but most, if not all, left wingers I know tend to fact check even from their own sources. They also back up what they say whereas most people on the right or far right use bad video edits.
Far right, yea, like Alex Jones type sure. But people in general tend to agree upon things that already aligns with their beliefs and with the far right does a great job of extracting the anger. The left in its core is skeptical so by that, you are right specially in the media perspective. But left can have idiots too...
He's proven that during his campaign, it's why he won the presidency. It's why so many people oppose him so strongly.. it's not because he's a republican like his supporters would have you believe.

Bush is still a piece of shit though. He was a better leader, but that's about it.
Yea, for someone who seemed like the worlds largest idiot at a point, but you'd rather have that idot than an asshole..

.....I have a question to ask about Biden.

A lot of you believe Biden is a weak candidate, would the biggest reason to that be because people view him as generic? Aside from being backed by large corporations, that is.

Ah, so he gassed clergy so he could take selfies for Jesus. Hey, but I guess they had it coming since they were nice to the "thugs", right?

His record is kind of bad, he's shown himself to be pretty resistant to a progressive agenda, probably due to who funds his campaign, and you know, the whole sexual assault allegation baggage. Plus, the guy seems rather senile.

i've found when people think its just because their "mourning the loss of mr. floyd" that they are missing the larger reason why people are so angry, and he seems to miss the point. If "police" weren't bad and did what they did for the umpteenth time, we wouldn't be in a situation where rioters and looters have found situations to incur financial damage

also hasnt

LAPD has had recent issues https://www.latimes.com/california/...ent-lapd-arrest-boyle-heights-internal-review
so I can only hope he understands were anger on his home turf comes from
But not only that, he apparently saw the future and saw how the protesters went back in time and got Floyd killed :kappa
Left wing theory is exactly what it sounds like. All left wing ideologies are derived from Anarchism/Marxism/Socialism. If you haven't read literature from these schools of thought, don't call yourself one. For example, if you've never read Lenin or Marx, don't call yourself a Marxist-Leninist. If you've never Proudhon or Koroptokin, don't call yourself a left-wing anarchist.

These college kids nowadays and a lot of the people associating with left-wing schools of thought are only doing it because they think it's trendy.

Vice-Versa, if you've never read Mises, or Friedman or any of the major Capitalists, don't associate yourself with the free market.

Most people think you can read a Wikipedia article and that's it. I'm not accusing you of this, it's just general.
Oh, I haven't read any, but I still apparently have left wing thoughts and views, so I call myself left wing. Also some views do contrast, like I'm for wealth distribution but have no problem with billionaires existing.

The left are quite diverse, for better or worse. So it's harder for the majority to agree. But yeah, I know the left has its idiots too, but like I said, it seems the right is worse in that regard.

I dunno man, he was pretty horrible.

Do you identify with a certain ideology? If you do and haven't educated yourself on the topic (properly) then you're just as ignorant as most of these college liberals.

Criticized millennials
Would likely do bad against Trump in a debate
Senile/dementia, based on what he says
Gaffes like "if you don't vote for me you ain't black!" which Trump made into a T-shirt
Is seen as a creep, from inappropriately touching girls and women to being accused of sexual assault
Does not advocate for policies like medicare for all
Was formerly against same sex marriage and abortion
Seems way out of touch
Bernie and Warren supporters are mad he won as they don't support him
Gary stole my beer (ignore this if you know who he is)
Biden is seen as an establishment Democrat
Veers moderate/centrist and is willing to compromise with republicans
Is seen as a racist or put racist policies into play long time ago
Obama being a war criminal

I lean towards left, obviously. BUt yeah, I've admitted to being ignorant in regards to socialism and communism. I'm against capitalism for the good of society, but I myself would prefer capitalism because I like working.

This makes no sense.

This is not left-wing. This would indicate that you are a centrist.

It makes sense. Selfishly, I prefer capitalism. However, I don't think capitalism is good for people in general.

I was a centrist. Then I saw how republicans and the right were, and now I'm a staunch anti-right and probably a good book away from being a socialist.

Again that makes no sense. You prefer Capitalism because you want to work (which also doesn't make sense because there is work in Socialism) but you don't think it's good for people in general? Are you different than the general public?

I was a centrist. Then I saw how republicans and the right were, and now I'm a staunch anti-right and probably a good book away from being a socialist.
You know there are different types of right wing ideologies right? Being against Republicans who are inherently Conservative (AuthRight) does not mean you should be anti-right. A lot of right wing individuals don't agree with the US Republicans. I highly suggest reading Socialist theory since Marxism seems to be a bit much for you.

Er, is capitalism not bad for people, given how it exploits their labor to benefit the wealthy and puts more focus on corporation? I'm not sure what I mean by job though, as I know socialism involves working as well.

There are? So far, nearly all agree on being anti-abortion (I've only seen one be pro-choice), support corporations and the wealthy over all else, be against same sex marriage, and whatnot. Where do they deviate?

It depends. I can't answer this for you because I will give you my opinion which is biased. Some would disagree. Look at all the major countries present and in the past who have used a capitalist system and make the decision for yourself as to whether they "worked" or not.

Most Anarcho-Capitalists don't care making them pro-choice. Same with Minarchists. I've even seen some Monarchists who genuinely hate Trump. Oh also Libertarians, most are not a fan of Trump

Same with the left. It would make no sense for someone to be anti-left because he hates Neo-liberals.

Neo-liberals are hated by everyone on the left.

@M3J I don't think you're a Socialist. I think you're a DemSoc.

Based on my knowledge, it hasn't worked as well. Capitalism has definitely failed in USA and continues to fail. All it took was one lockdown to do a great deal of damage to our economy.

Hmm, that just makes me even more aware of how limited I am in the amount of people I've come across that are on the right side of the political spectrum. But to be honest, I'd say it makes no sense because the left of center are way more diverse.

I figured, given I support Bernie and AOC, who are supposedly not even that far left in other countries as they seem to be in USA.

Problem is, it's tough to meet people on the "extreme" axis of the spectrum. I'm an extreme lefty but all my friends are centrists. Most people are centrists anyways.

This I kinda agree with. Majority of the right are influenced by religion which are very similar.

@xi0 This is a good example of a seeming clear cut situation that actually has some nuance:

On June 1st, Trump makes an address about being tougher on the destructive people pretending to be protesters.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/06/01/george-floyd-protests-live-updates/

About an hour or two later that night, St. John's Church, a church many presidents have visited, and a building near it is lit ablaze.

The following morning (June 2nd), we get the incomplete story that, seemingly without any other motivations, Trump decided to tear gassed protesters to get some photos taken at a random church.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was some of the news Trump woke up to, given how close the church is and with it being a place of historical importance.

However, I would be surprised if many rioters came back the next day to do more damage in broad daylight, so most of the people Trump was clearing out were most likely relatively peaceful.

There is no side that looks all good or all bad, but there's also no side that is without folly.

Pretty crazy what‘s going on. I hope that after it all settles down there will be some actual reform and not just a „we beat the riot into the ground, peace is restored, continue life as normal!“. Ofc there‘s lots of criminals taking advantage of the situation and many people that are there for the thrill of it(saw many streamers/youtubers gathering there doing dumb things), but all that is unrelated to the protest itself.

Honestly, I don't think it's police being undertrained, at all. Most of them seem more than happy or comfortable to get violent and attack protesters when the protesters aren't even doing anything. In some areas though, there are police who are leaving the protesters alone or even joining them, which has kept the protests peaceful. "Rioters" on police is the consequence of police being more than happy to attack protesters.
Wouldn‘t exactly that mean they‘re not trained enough at all? I doubt they train the knee-choke or attacking people that are just sitting doing nothing. I saw somewhere that the training time for police in the US is far too little.

Also looked at the people running for office/primary here,
-none of the republicans have a single statement on anything this whole week, no diversity in their ads (some even want more police spending and expanded gun measures)
-dems at least gave a tweet, but still, nothing beyond that.
-mayor and gov basically said nothing beyond one of those generic statements
Really feels like politicians have been largely scared to do anything until they see how far the situation will come.

People in power saying to be peaceful and speak with your votes are clearly just pushing it off to the "next administration" and doing little to think of reforms now and with people like the LAPD person quote, are missing the point. Also I feel like this is also where the criticism of entire cities with full on democratic mayor and boards get...

People in power saying they're setting up task forces and will have town halls (when task forces are already set up and have been for years) just returning to the same slow and ineffective procedures (measures take so long, when the admin changes they get shelved, forgotten)

People in power issuing vague "we hear you statements" ... uhm havent you heard us for years, its too late to be hearing, its time to be doing.

Also have seen people say racism doesnt exist in America, its just a few bad apples...

I wish the police would stop describing things as a "battlezone" using "strike teams" with "less-lethal ammunition" . Watching what happened to the msnbc reporter hit with a flash bang in seattle last night. Literally at times looks no different than those videos of reporters in the videos where they were on the frontlines of war.

Also its so heavy handed use of force against a few "insidious" "organized" looters coordinating efforts using highly encrypted apps.

NYC erected construction barriers in front of shops. I feel its a bad look for a police dept with 5.6BLN $$$ budget to struggle to control looting, waste of money.

It tickles my pickle when people agree with me.

I know it is. I've seen few far left people refuse to vote for Biden just because he's the same as Trump when Biden would at least be less inclined to fatal violence towards protesters. What would you define centrism as, anyway?

And also white supremacy, regardless of race.

I know...

Wouldn‘t exactly that mean they‘re not trained enough at all? I doubt they train the knee-choke or attacking people that are just sitting doing nothing. I saw somewhere that the training time for police in the US is far too little.
I'm saying that they could be trained well and still kill out of choice. Like, spend 10 hours on learning de-escalation (they apparently spend a total of an hour or two as opposed to about 8 hours of arms handling) and taking down suspects in nonlethal ways but still choose to shoot or use lethal ways. You don't need training to know not to put your knee on a restrained person's neck or keep it there for a long time.

You have ideals that range across many ideologies. An extremist is someone who only has 1 set of ideologies. A DemSoc like Capitalism (right) but believes it should have regulation (left). Outside centrism is left wing and right wing, not extremes but definitely not centrist. Then you get the 4 extremes
