They're not getting exposed to grams of the stuff by digging ditches in a forest though, so claiming ARS seems to not be plausible given what I've read. The people who looked at the reactor as it meltdown or some of the liquidators had ARS. People digging in a forest 35 years later aren't. They should definitely be getting cancer screenings more so than the average person though.



Even if there's some undocumented concentrated source of radioactivity capable of giving someone ARS, I think asking people to believe the military moved through the exclusion zone without geiger counters is total horseshit. Where is the evidence? A facebook post from a tour guide? Cmon

They dug a big hole, pushed the most radioactive things into it. Covered it with dirt. Poured concrete over the most dangerous areas.

Radioactive debris and contamination will be there for a long time.

Okay but those things will give people leukemia, not ARS. The forest isn't a reactor that's in the process of meltdown. If 7 busloads of Russian soldiers all had ARS, then there's some S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-level shit going on in that forest.

Not arguing for or against, but the Chernobyl disaster was caused by a flawed Soviet design from the 1950s that required stricter operating specifications, and most importantly, malfeasance. Also, building nuclear power plants near major fault lines is probably a bad idea too.

ARS = Acute Radiation Syndrome or Radiation Poisoning. Wasn't talking about anything respiratory.

This is caused by intense gamma and neutron radiation tearing through the body, and you're dead before you know it. There's simply nothing in the Red Forest that would be capable of that. Potentially breathing in radioactive particulate probably wouldn't be fun, but that's something that gives you lung cancer, not radiation poisoning.

Me bringing up STALKER was me just implying some sort of unexplained phenomenon that would be capable of producing the kind of radiation that a nuclear reactor would. You'd need something very powerful within a short period of time.

Honestly, I would generally be closer to team terf than whichever other teams there are... but this is straight up how normal people speak lol. People in the US are too bored at this point if this is what they are wasting time on. There's a worldwide food security crisis looming and the government is almost cartoonishly corrupt ffs.

Closer to TERFs in what way? The TERF line of thinking is that trans women aren't women and are only doing what they do to undermine womenhood or take advantage of people. It's completely psychopathic and borders on projection.

Like I've alluded to many times recently, wedge issues are more popular because it's easier to drum up outrage and bully marginalized groups of people, than it is to demand reform and accountability from the government and economic apparatus responsible for broader issues. It's obvious these "fights" are amplified by those with money/power/influence to distract people from those broader issues as well.

It depends? for 99% of the population biological sex and gender expression are pretty much the same thing. For roughly 1% of the population these don't match. I suppose a distinction could be reasonable in an academic setting. To me this gets weird when you get to the point where even referring to a trans woman as a trans woman is transphobic because the trans part acknowledges their biology.
