If the election is between Biden and trump then the choice is basically between an israel supporter and an even more committed israel supporter. I don't see anyone giving a shit about this coming November.
They don't. And it's not about being pro genocide or anti-Muslim or anything like that. People just don't make decisions about their own country's politics based on how they affect people outside of said country. Unless ofcourse that outside country is somehow harming their country.

If I didn't care about Palestinians though, why would I keep posting stuff about them knowing I could get in trouble for doing so? People who have spoke up for Palestine, even saying ceasefire, have gotten fired, lost their scholarships, and doxxed, especially Muslims, while Israelis and Israel supporters have openly called for murder without repercussion. Unlike you, I actually care about lives, not what affects me.
You know what? I don't gain anything by attacking you for your views on the Israel-Palestine conflict. I don't hate you, and I'm tired of being a condescending ass.

Maybe you do care about Palestinian people. I simply disagree with how you're going about helping them. I think it leads to more dead Palestinians.

I apologize for being so abrasive. Genuinely.

Maybe I could try a little harder to explain my dismissiveness of what's going on in the Gaza strip:

When you're at home watching tv and you see a commercial about starving children in Africa, with swollen bellies and sunken eyes and skeletal limbs, the natural empathetic human response is to wince and feel bad, and wish for the best for these children, right? Of course. We're all good people here.

But then the commercial ends, and you get right back to watching whatever syndicated sitcom was on tv at the time, and you forget about these children until the next commercial break. Cue the Sara McLaughlin music, cue the watery eyes, cue the guilty feelings. You know, for the minute and a half or so that the commercial lasts. And then it's gone again.

Human beings are tribal. Empathy is a tool meant to increase our survival by making us stronger pack animals via strong emotional attachment to those in our immediate group. Our tribe. Our family. And that attachment is less strong the further out you get from that family. People who are different from you in more stark ways (say race, culture, economic status, etc) tend to receive less of our empathetic feelings. And that's not by choice. You just don't fucking care about people that you don't regularly interact with.

And that's where I'm at. Shit sucks over in the middle east. But shit sucks here too, and I'm not willing to make it suck more over here to make it suck less over there, especially when both sides of this war have less empathy for each other than I have for either of them. That doesn't contradict my secular humanist values at all, so I'm good.

@kckk: Well... the idea is that Republicans CLAIM to be anti-illegal immigration, not anti-immigration completely. Right? Perhaps that's the logic behind it. Even if it's really just a dishonest ploy to prove that Republicans actually hate ALL forms of immigration so we can further typecast them as the Racist Party for them fighting even the "good" kind of immigration. I'm just spitballing here.

Sure would help if we HAD A CONSERVATIVE IN THE THREAD WHO COULD SHARE THEIR OPINIONS ON THE MATTER.

Late reply but have had personal stuff going on

Not when you've taken the time to do so for months and it didn't matter to the people you were talking to about it. I argue in good faith until my interlocutor stops doing the same. I've demonstrated I can conversate without being intellectually lazy. It didn't help, so I feel no qualms about phoning it in now. Nothing of value was gained by me doing the work, so nothing of value was lost by giving up on it.

Fuck a sunk cost fallacy.
This topic is only transactional like you're describing if you insist on it being that way. And to be frank, I think that's petty and odd. The situation is what it is and it doesn't matter whether people you talk to are dishonest and foaming at the mouth over it. Or at least that's plainly obvious to me. It just doesn't hinge on how good faith people are or not IMO. We're talking about a lot of lost lives that have zero to do with eliminating Hamas.

And I think dismissing the acknowledgment of Palestine's evils as "both sides-ing" is dishonest.

Also, how did you come to the conclusion that me saying "I did a 180 on being pro-Palestine" was me not having a side? Just because I'm not pro-Israel, doesn't mean I don't have a side.

I am anti-current Palestine.
Okay fine, then you can choose to euphemize it however you want.

And current Palestine is what? A heap of rubble in Gaza and those under the yoke of expansionist settlers in the West Bank and aren't affiliated with Hamas and yet are still screwed with no recourse. All according to plan btw.

Hmmm, I feel like the criticism harris gets does not have that much to do with either her sex or skin color. Even presumably favorable media outlets don't have that many nice things to say about her. It'd be one thing if right wing media were tearing her apart non stop (which I assume they are) and the rest was swooning over her but it doesn't seem like anyone really likes or cares for her.
Tbh I don't get the impression that people dislike her in the center or left, she's usually just the butt of jokes or memes. She's a typical ineffectual Vice President who doesn't have much of a repertoire and isn't very eloquent at speaking. But when she was "new" and they hid her less she got a lot of negative attention for being a women and minority, at least that was evident to me.

It's because you're mistaken about what I'm saying. You think I'm treating all Palestinians as terrorists like Hamas because I don't like how bad faith M3J was being. Correction down below.

I know. That's not the point. It's not that I'm going to treat Palestinians like Hamas because M3J was bad faith. It's that Palestinians already are predominately pro-Hamas (proven fact) and I've been avoiding emphasizing that as not to demonize the non-terrorist sympathizing Palestinians to show solidarity with the "good" Palestinians... going so far as to absolutely denounce the IDF with the same fervor that I disavow Hamas with to further emphasize an attempt at remaining unbiased. Which I didn't have to do because the pro-Hamas Palestinians are the majority in the same way that the majority of Republicans believe the election was stolen and so I don't have to differentiate between MAGA and "normal" Republicans unless I'm trying to reach across the table and come to an understanding with a conservative.

I had to not bring attention to the confirmed fact that the majority of Palestinians are pro-Hamas to separate my feelings toward Hamas from my feelings toward the innocent Palestinians, while also demonstrating that to anyone reading my posts. But now? I'm not taking that extra step forward because no one will engage. It's like I keep doing the reaching across the table and he keeps leaning back, arms crossed, unwilling to engage in nuance. The only correct response after that is "Fine. Gloves off."

And current Palestine is what? A heap of rubble in Gaza and those under the yoke of expansionist settlers in the West Bank and aren't affiliated with Hamas and yet are still screwed with no recourse. All according to plan btw.
Current Palestine is a place that is pro-Hamas, even if they aren't affiliated with Hamas. That doesn't mean they deserve to die, but it does make the possibility of ousting Hamas nigh impossible, which means they're contributing to the path Hamas is leading them towards. The path of suicide, specifically.

Itachi and the rest of the Uchiha clan are Palestine, and Fugaku and the Uchiha Police Force are all Hamas. If Itachi had just taken out the Police Force alone under the suspicion of conspiracy to overthrow Kohonagakure, no one would feel the need to treat the entirety of the Uchiha clan with the same fear or hatred as Fugaku and his ilk. Palestine needs non-militant terrorists as leadership.

VP's don't usually ever get that much screen time anyway from my experience. Pence only did because Trump made him a target.

If the election is between Biden and trump then the choice is basically between an israel supporter and an even more committed israel supporter. I don't see anyone giving a shit about this coming November.
And one candidate would probably be worse towards Palestine and Muslims than the other, especially given that candidate did ban Muslims from entering the country. Even though the other is inciting attacks on Palestinians and Muslims by constantly bringing up Hamas, and inaccurately blaming them.

But also, Biden and "vote blue no matter who" people are also alienating the left and Muslims, so that's even less reason for them to make sure Biden wins. It'll be mostly the right and "BLUE NO MATTER WHO" who will actually give a shit.

So you do admit you were being condescending! Other than that and you focusing on Hamas, I have no problem with you.

I disagree with the way Dems disregard the families of Palestinians, essentially telling them to suck it up and vote for Biden even when Biden's allowing the genocide to happen. Instead of staying quiet or trying to at least pretend to care about Palestinian lives, they're being super insensitive.

It doesn't matter how I feel or what my opinions are, or how much I agree/disagree with Palestinians and Palestinian supporters, I would NOT police them or any victims who are going through tragedies.

It doesn't. The only thing that leads to more dead Palestinians is Israel and the West. Israel has been told to stop committing genocide, iirc, but they haven't. USA is also one of the very few, if not the only country, that opposed a ceasefire. Right now, Palestinians and their supporters see another Biden term leading to more dead Palestinians to the point that they're willing to let a lying Islamophobic idiot win. I think instead of pointing fingers at victims, fingers should be pointed at the problem, which Biden is a part of.

From what I recall, the left dislike her because she was a cop or lawyer or something in law or something and led to tons of arrests/guilty charges. Unsure if it was her being strict, her wanting to have an excellent record, or what, but I remember the left criticizing her as not caring about people.

Bolded: This, really. The Palestines have only ever known war, and belief that a forever war shall always continue in their lives. Granted, there’s been moments of peace in-between, but all they’ve only ever known was that they’re constantly locked in a holy war until one is completely eradicated.

Whereas on the other side, (cmiiw) you have a mix of militants and politicians in leadership throughout the years.

Also, I will just bluntly say this: This war is nothing but an opportunity for Netanyahu, and Hamas absolutely fucked this up.

Netanyahu was just fresh off a harrowing election where domestic protests turned out en masse against his obvious dictatorship ambitions. Instead of capitalizing on that, Hamas went on the offensive after the dust had settled, and now Netanyahu gets to make himself look good and tough by waging genocide, and Hamas literally gave him the perfect excuse to do so.

This is pure and utter incompetency at its finest.

??

Netanyahu has lost immense popularity, especially amongst his own people for fucking up the genocide and finally getting more people to realize Palestinians are victims, Hamas or not, and for not doing much to help hostages but put on airs. This just reaffirming my belief that people obsessed with blaming Hamas doesn't actually know what's going on, they're just believing whatever bullshit they read that agrees with them.

If anything, Oct 7 led to Netanyahu's incompetence being exposed, and him losing popularity, especially when Israel and USA actually knew the attack was going to happen a year before it did. Netanyahu kept fumbling every step of the way, and now his own citizens want him out.

Sources for Netanyahu's popularity actually dwindling

That aside, anyone hear about Aaron Bushnell protesting the genocide of Palestinians by setting himself on fire? Apparently he also felt guilty in being complicit, as well. And I think a Congolese man set himself on fire as well to raise awareness of the genocide going on there. Even when Aaron was on fire, an officer was pointing his gun at him, which makes this even more fucked up.

Netanyahu is struggling, certainly. But for Israelis, it would be much more preferable if he stays in power until they win this war. And if they succeed, you can bet his popularity will jump right back to the top.

At this rate, it doesn’t matter if they think he’s handling this badly. If they succeed eradicating Palestine, all will be forgotten. Only the end result will justify his reign. And all Netanyahu has to do is keep holding out and keep up the bluster until he wins.

I saw. And of course he's been confirmed to be a KiraChats, Hasan Piker, and DJ Muel viewer.

Remember months ago when I raged about Hasan radicalizing Lefties into thinking they're revolutionaries? When I said that, I thought it just meant these kids would be wasting votes on 3rd party candidates or wasting time screeching on twitter. I never considered they'd be this lost.

And I don't think this is as bad as it gets. I expect suicide bombings on Jewish property next.

Many things wrong with the post, but the most important mistake is that this isn't a war, it's a genocide of Palestinians, an ethnic cleansing. Biden and Zionists are mad at Netanyahu because he did significant damage to Israel's image with horrible propaganda, and now far more people are supporting Palestine at the risk of their livelihood.

Where was that confirmed? He was a member of the US army, and the other reason why he self-immolated was because of how guilty he felt for being complicit in a genocide. If you're reading sources like NY Post, no wonder why you've been so misinformed about the genocide.

Oh so you're Islamophobic. That explains everything. But ironically, Palestinians haven't done anything to Jews, it's the Jews that either tried to frame Palestinians or were the ones who attacked Palestinians or Muslims showing any sign of support for Palestine. Also, a Palestinian boy in Chicago was killed by his landlord simply because he was Palestinian.

If you're really worried about Jewish property, keep an eye on Zionists and the right wing, they're the ones more likely to do horrible things, as proven before. Real Palestinian allies know Jews are not at fault here, Zionists are.

Yes. And Netanyahu doesn’t fucking care. Because if they succeed, they get to rewrite history as they see fit.

And if that happens, Hamas has no one to blame but themselves for being utterly incompetent.

Where was that confirmed?
On twitch, via his twitchlogs. Here:
His account on twitch was originally acebush1 but about a year ago he changed it to LillyAnarKitty (ugh). He was in these twitch channels chatting, meaning he was watching their content. SophieFromMars, another super far leftie is one he watched too. Doesn't seem he chatted in Hasan's channel but he watches his content according to social media posts.

He was a member of the US army, and the other reason why he self-immolated was because of how guilty he felt for being complicit in a genocide. If you're reading sources like NY Post, no wonder why you've been so misinformed about the genocide.
I never denied any of what his occupation was, I'm talking about what fucked his brain enough for him to throw his life away.

Oh so you're Islamophobic. That explains everything.
Please post the quote where I mentioned Muslims at any point whatsoever. My entire post was about how I hate that leftists are being radicalized by twitch streamers, and that Aaron Bushnell is a sign of everything I was warning xi0 about 3 months ago. And also, that it's only going to get worse from here, because they're going to start suicide bombing runs on Jewish properties because Bushnell's death, as sad as it was, will accomplish nothing.

I shouldn't even be asking you to look for it because I know you didn't see the word Muslim. You saw the words "Suicide Bomber" and equated that with Muslims. Which says a LOT more about how you perceive Muslims than it does me.

But ironically, Palestinians haven't done anything to Jews, it's the Jews that either tried to frame Palestinians or were the ones who attacked Palestinians or Muslims showing any sign of support for Palestine.
...I wish I wasn't better than you so that I could call you an antisemite. But I am, so I won't.

Also, a Palestinian boy in Chicago was killed by his landlord simply because he was Palestinian.
I know. He stabbed him or something. This was months ago.

If you're really worried about Jewish property, keep an eye on Zionists and the right wing, they're the ones more likely to do horrible things, as proven before. Real Palestinian allies know Jews are not at fault here, Zionists are.
I don't give a shit about Jewish property, that wasn't the purpose of my post. I'm furious because Leftists are getting radicalized to the point that they're willing to kill to promote political change. Aaron Bushnell was a goddamn victim and there are going to be more like him, and some of them aren't going to be pacifists. They won't settle for killing themselves. They're going to kill others.

They are going to kill others.

This is pretty asinine, not going to lie. I won't glorify people who self-immolate because I'm uncomfortable with doing that but pretending that this form of protest is naturally going to lead to violence against others isn't based on anything. People have been doing it forever and for very similar reasons.

I don’t think it’s that far-fetched. Certainly, it might sound an irrational conclusion, but it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility if more people start buying into this.

"For Russia, Journalist's self immolation is a wake up call".

Not gonna lie, that one made me laugh. I can imagine putin thinking "and I didn't even have to throw that loser out a window".

It's not Aaron's suicide that's going to lead to more radical actions by lefties, it's the ones preaching stochastic terrorism that were able to turn Aaron's brain into soup that are going to lead to that. Aaron's death is just a symbol that the far left are okay with things getting this extreme. Which will lead to more extremism. So "Aaron killing himself is gonna make lefties start killing other people" isn't the argument.

As for the idea that self-immolation has been done for ages and thus isn't going to resort in violence against other people, I think "It didn't happen back then so it won't happen now" is a pretty weak argument, and I think you know it is. These are unprecedented times, so I expect unprecedented occurrences. The state of the left today practices zealotry more than I've ever experienced in the past and zealots well... they're willing to not just die for their beliefs, but kill for them too.

And not for nothing, but I wanna remind y'all that M3J called for the destruction of Israel and punishment of Zionists not what....2 weeks ago? 3? Why the fuck are we all acting like this is something normal people say? How many of y'all called for the eradication of Russia last year?

We can accuse me of calling for Gaza to be turned into a parking lot (which I didn't say), but motherfucker calls for a counter-genocide and we're all out of moral outrage?

I'd say it's become normal enough.... which is a shame (not that what israel is doing isn't vile). People have definitely become radicalized on this issue.

That's what I meant by this isn't normal. That it shouldn't be normalized. That it's getting that way.

And fuck me they took down Aaron Bushnell's Reddit account before I could post his opinion on Jews. According to him, and I quote: "There is no such thing as Israeli civilians".

Got it. The second paragraph is especially bad.

The whole ‘Israel/Jews are colonializers‘ actually lose water the more I read about both of their history. And not in the sense that it justifies Israel’s position on the matter. In fact, it just makes it even more murkier.

All I will say is, the Palestinians have been dealt a shitty hand even before Israel went and took their lands. And a great deal of the blame falls on the cowardly British.

All I will say is, the Palestinians have been dealt a shitty hand even before Israel went and took their lands. And a great deal of the blame falls on the cowardly British.
Yeah. There's a plethora, a smorgasbord of abuses Palestinians have to choose from to justify violence against Israelis, of that there is no doubt.

But none of them will lead to lasting peace, and there has to be a change. They can't keep pursuing a fight they can't win. Compromise is the only way, and unfortunately, when you are in no position to negotiate you're gonna get the short end of the stick based on who you're coming to a compromise with. There is no master play. You take what you CAN get and try to do better later. It's not glorious, it's not fun, and for lack of a better word it's just not justice. Not for the innocent Palestinians.

But they will not get a better hand. They need leaders that understand this fact IMHO.

John gets it.

Not gonna lie, any time I begin to read the clusterfolk that people there have the audacity to call history (it's more of a shit smeared wall) my brain just goes "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" and I zone off. It's decades of cruel and confusing nonsense fueled by dumb religions of people without anything resembling a democratic value.
