Producer Northrop Davis confirmed at the Saturday grand opening of the New People cultural entertainment center in San Francisco that he pitched the Berserk, Baki The Grappler, and Barefoot Gen manga to studios in Hollywood. We were involved with [Kentarou Miura's fantasy adventure story] Berserk, and it almost happened, but that is not quite there.

i dont understand people's reasoning like "his artwork is so detailed so its just normal for a chapter to be this late"
dont you ever watch videos over the net showing how some people draw incredibly detailed pictures in such small times?his artwork is not an excuse and i dont ever believe he would spend a month or something to finish just a few shots.
it would be more acceptable if you said "he's working on the plot story" because it's like writing a novel which may require such a long time but drawing?!!!i dont buy it >_> maybe he's just too lazy or likes to take his time i dont know but there is something definetly wrong here...

Try it some time bro.

No it may not just be the artwork, he takes breaks. He has been doing this for like 20 years. And the artwork makes it worthwhile to most of his fans. Really now. Few mangas come close.

Miura works largely alone and without computer assistance. Inking the manga reportedly consumes most of his time when working (Yes, drawing takes up all his time.), so who can blame him for wanting to take a break now and then?

Besides, quality cannot be rushed; it's as simple as that.

Wait... continue the manga after Miura's death? Sorry, but no. Absolutely not; I'd be dead* against it, myself.

Berserk is Miura's story, Miura's art, Miura's vision; without him, there is no Berserk. All you people seem to care about is how quickly you can get hold of the next chapter. Have you no appreciation for the man himself?

Let's just hope the manga is completed before the... assistant takeover even becomes an option.

Well of course the manga is all his, but say baring any accident or something, I'd like to have other people to continue it, just so we get some type of ending, anything can happen tomorrow, but yes I'm hoping the series is completed by Miura himself instead of someone else.

well, i think i`d rather fantasize about how the ending would`ve been and torture myself until my time of death, rather than having some nonexistent assistants of Miura give it a dumb ending, with inferior art quality... or is it just me? o_O

Nope, I share the sentiment. If Miura were to pass on prior to Berserk being completed - Flying Spaghetti Monster forbid - then I'd rather the manga remain unfinished than let another mangaka conclude it in Miura's place.

... Supposed it did happen, though, and the manga remained unfinished... Perhaps the fans would band together and write up a decent ending (unofficially, of course); you know, just to provide some sense of closure...

how can there be many fans left if miura is torturing them with these incredibly slow releases and long breaks? it has become as bad as guyver - going so slow yet introduces more plotlines than resolving them. I think there's got to be a point where fans tell him enough is enough.

well, yeah, that`s the main problem here... Miura`s mind (as everyone`s) is a complete mystery, as the man himself... if we were to make up one ending we`d all be satisfied with, we`d be ceaselessly thinking about what would Miura do here and there, and so on... honestly, who would`ve thought that Ganishka, who was perceived as one of the minor characters in "Berserk", would be so vital to the continuation of the story? well, maybe a few, but still... the plot twists are unique and unexpected with Miura... that, you cannot replicate... O_o

damn, man... honestly, i don`t think you can actually compare the two of them... have you read a bit of "Berserk", past the first 4 volumes, actually? even if it leaves us waiting for even 5-6 months, the art and the story is entirely worth it... just find the torrent with the manga, download some, read past the first 4 volumes, and then come back asking if it`s become as bad as the other manga you mentioned... if you actually did, and you didn`t like it, then sorry for the long rant that`s not of any interest to you, we don`t give a damn about your opinion, don`t post here, end of story... the long breaks he takes are actually either so he can work on the tankoubon, either perfect his art even more... if you compare the chapters from before the long break and after, you will notice quite an improvement... and did you know that this man works even up to 14 hours a day, scribbling with a pen and ink all day on a piece of paper, just for most of us readers, that don`t buy the volumes? that`s why i ain`t complaining, `cuz he`s doing this for us, not for him... -_-

i'm well aware of the quality of his art and i agree that quality cant be rushed.actually i agree with everything you say but imo there must be a limit to it.i'm an art student myself,how can i ever possibly disrespect the man!!but still,i wish i could show you my teacher's works for which he drawed all over the school's great hall(30-100m rectangular- 3,5m high) with INK in just 2 weeks.also much more detailed than berserk...
people keep saying "what if he dies during the process......" for a reason.its a strong possibility considering his age and the current events in the manga(unless he's preparing for a huge turning point)
i dont want to be disrespectful but there isnt a better way to say it i guess.it's a great manga,one of the best.but even for the best manga on earth, 20 years or more is unnatural.he seems like aiming for an other 20 or at least 10 and we've already started to speculate about "which way would be better after his death..to cut it endlessly or for somebody else to finish it" .. doesnt it feel any wrong to you?really?..i must say then, i'm not at your level of a fan i guess : /
