Re: Claymore Hang-out Thread
@sport
I do disagree with the argument that Priscilla hadn't planned, even if only instinctively, a feint. "I loved my papa...I crept up behind him while he was eating my sister's guts and cut off his head," to me, doesn't exactly sound like someone who has limits to what she will do to survive. She had used a sneak attack against someone she supposedly loved more than anyone else. What on earth was to stop her from repeating such a move against someone "evil" and completely unfamiliar (obviously, not honor)?
By the time she passed her limit, Priscilla had to have realized that Teresa couldn't read her yoki flow. This difficulty on Teresa's part could easily be exploited given the first hesitation that Teresa had made back in the city (hence, it's the one that actually mattered). Since Teresa had faltered once, she'd do it again. Other than awakening, taking advantage of such sentimental behavior was Priscilla's best option. In addition, at the time, option 2 was probably more appealing than option 1, simply because Priscilla wouldn't have been aware that awakening would bypass any training necessary for her to match Teresa while still a claymore.
Hoho, you don't appear to recognize the difference between her collapsing and confessing that she doesn't want to be a yoma and the request that she be killed before awakening. Now then, I may recognize the collapse and confession as genuine, but the request definitely wasn't. After Teresa said, "All I can do for you is to cut off your head before the change is complete," Priscilla realized her situation. However, she wasn't about to allow some bitch (excuse my use; it is simply an attempt to understand Priscilla's thoughts) of a claymore do her in. In this moment, she knew what she was about to do:

The other important thing is that even if the fight hadn't paused, Priscilla would have won. She was on the verge of awakening. This event is described as pure ecstasy, and in some cases, manifests as a purely instinctual, rather than willful, process. Remember, despite her will, Jean had practically awakened due to the immense amount of stress applied to her body (this applies to others). Priscilla hadn't been aware of her loss of control until she collapsed. Had Teresa continued her assault, Priscilla still would have awakened out of fear/hate, and this still would have resulted in Teresa's death.
Ilena herself said that Theresa would normally just have killed Priscilla.
Ilena said that about the first hesitation, which is the only one I recognize as mattering in terms of the final outcome.
Priscilla was at 80% of her strength, so all she'd gain was 20% more and a more lucid mind.
All? Did you not read my last post or look at just about every awakening we've seen? Priscilla didn't know how to effectively tap her yoki when she encountered Teresa. Teresa recognized this but also knew that Priscilla would soon surpass her if she received more training. In her case, awakening would bypass said training.
Now, let's look at other evidence. Clare, Miria, Undine, etc. got their asses handed to them by Rigardo. Clare wasn't a match for him until she started awakening. After she had awakened all four limbs, she defeated him in an instant (hmmm, I wonder how much more interesting the fight between Priscilla and Teresa would have been had the former awoken a limb or two). How about Rose? She knew she'd have a better chance against Teresa if she awoke before they fought. Rose had already neared her prime/limits, so her chances weren't improved by much. Of course, Priscilla had only realized a fraction of potential, so her awakening was that much more powerful (it is a little odd that she's the only case of an incredibly inexperienced claymore gaining a ridiculous amount power after awakening, although Clare's near awakening in Pieta kinda resembles Priscilla's in that regard).
p.s. While she displayed severe moral schizophrenia, and eventually regression after encountering Isley, I doubt she'd be diagnosed as a case of DID (one could maybe make an argument for such a diagnosis after her encounter with Isley, but not before). If anything, she simply rejected and realized the falsity of the teachings, which had been contributed greatly to her moral schizophrenia, forced upon her by the org.
Can anyone confirm whether or not a winged type yoma have been used in the hybridization process? I always assumed that was the case with Jean, but I may be wrong.
