Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Hmm... I gotta say... Her evidence just seemed to come from nowhere. When did she get a chance to do all of that, when they were hiding in the north? Also the sole reasoning point behind it was the swords material. Quite a bit of it still seems to be idle speculation.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

She said she sneaked into the organization's archives, she must have found out about the more specific parts of her theory there. Like the bit about there being no record of the swords being produced, that must have been found out in the organizations archive.

baboysai said:
them having battalions other than the 57 is obvious, if the claymores are just lab rats.
Not necessarily, one of the other possibilities is that they are waiting for a perfected version before going into mass producing. After all, turning into an uncontrollable intestine eating super monster that attacks one's own allies is a pretty huge design flaw. Though, i think 100 years is too long for them to keep things in the research phase.

A second possibility is that the yoma aren't actually created on site but rather shipped from back home. Which would both bring claymore and yoma production closer to the battlefield and prevent interruptions in the supply of their little bioweapons in the event that the experiment goes "apocalypse scenario" on them. Meaning that the organization might not have much more than the 57 to protecting them.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Something i've been wondering since i read this last chapter is, "How can the organization take it's time developing claymores if they are losing a war back in their homeland." The answer i've come up with is that the organization has to have claymores or some sort of strong yoma to send to their homeland separate from the experimental group of 57. It's the only way i can think of that they could avoid being completely obliterated after a hundred years of war against a stronger army.
they could have just sent covert hybrids (unrelated to the claymores) into enemy territory and have them awaken. this obviously wouldn't be a way to win since they wouldn't be able to come in and take the territory while their enemies were fighting the awakened beings (then they'd just have to deal with the awakened beings). however, it would keep their enemies occupied. then, after that damage was done, they'd need a way to actually conquer the territories and win the war. unfortunately, some of the awakened beings were far more powerful than they had planned. i'm gonna agree with baboysai's assessment of the purpose of alicia and beth. they get sent back to the continent to clean things up a bit, while the other claymores serve as a buffer until they can abandon the island/decimate the abyssal ones.

this also brings up the question of what they were really planning to do with theresa. while being the most powerful individual they ever had, it's not like they had any control over her. it's not like she would have gone along with operations on another continent.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Even if they couldnt control theresa they could study her to see what happened to create something so powerfull and after that just make another one with the information. The human side had to be using some sort of hybrid since the long time ago, otherwise they would have being wiped of a long time ago (the dragon skin prolly has similar powers to yomas/awaken ones and so far no human stood a chance agains those), we can assume this war is going on for far too long, if u assume isley was the first number 1 claymore (they started with males so he is the oldest one of the abysmal) and we had at least 4 more number 1 claymores after him (riful, luciella, theresa and alicia) all the claymores are transformed and trained since very young age so i would guess the war is going on for at least 100 years.

you forget that before they went to the north, Miria already knew stuff. Remember when they first met miria and they made the group of half-awakened beings? the pact or something. That was the time when she said she had been investigating, and just needed more evidence.

Ever since she got the mission to kill her friend she had suspected stuff about the org and that's when she started investigating, I think.

Not necessarily, one of the other possibilities is that they are waiting for a perfected version before going into mass producing.
the battalions I meant would have to be the normal infantry that the other continent has, the one that's keeping defense against the dragons, i guess. And they're just humans, maybe.

When teresa was first introduced it was as if she already knew so much about the organization, when she hinted that the village who doesn't pay will have more attacks from the yoma. I think there was only a matter of time before the org would have acted and silenced her up, but she caused trouble herself without them having to look for an excuse to kill her.

I'm thinking there will still be chapters about teresa.

I'm really liking this new plot twist. I really hope to see a second season of the anime.

I'm also a little dissapointed to see Galatea's still blind. She was one of my favourites.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Being blind doesn't seem to hinder her much, though...

She said that she's able to see pretty well by sensing Youki and all, and 'kickass blind characters' are pretty common in manga/anime, so she might still be "1337" enough to stand next to Claire and Miria.

Interesting development.

Claymore world is bigger than before, now
That´s enlargement can sounds like a "licence" for an introduction of new elements in story.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

i'm dying to see them take on the enemy they were created for: the "dragons"...maybe they'll make the awakened look like fleas. But, I wonder, how the heck will Claire survive this stuff? Being a quarter should put her at a huge disadvantage...

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

well she's already stronger then most of the half yoma....
maybe the next step of hers will be full body awakening with the ability to come back.

though it is unusual, in most of the shonen manga the hero has a special talent or inheritance from the beginning(like Naruto or Ichigo), but Clare has a disadvantage from the beginning...

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

I believe that in organization there's no one, besides Alicia, who could take down the 7 ghosts. At least Claire and Miria, i´m sure. In this continent only Alicia, Riful, Easley and Priscilla can beat them, i guess. Maybe Luciela, if she stays alive.

The quantity of known enemies is short now but new continent could show us that the ghosts still are powerless in front more challenges

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

My hope is that the future battles will continue to be mostly team based. The claymores haven't typically taken awakened beings one 1 on 1, so far. It's usually been 4-5 claymores fighting each awakened being and I like it that way.

I'm thinking during a fight, the ghosts and their new allies will likely be separating into two groups. Since all the ghost seem to be very strong, my guess is the groups would look something like this

Group 1)Mira, Cynthia, Deneve, Helen, and Tabitha

Group 2)Clare, Galatea, Miata, Clarice, and Yuma

This massive amount of fighting power the ghost's are getting built up, makes me think Yagi has some nasty surprises coming their way. Surprises which they will need every bit power they've gained to survive. Just a guess though.:p

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

I wonder if the dragons are enemies. I can imagine a situation when the Org is being destroyed from both sides, and then the dragons and Claymores meet in the middle and need to do some explaining (provided, there are no Claymores on the mainland), 'who the hell are you?' moment would be great, especially since the answer would be 'a weapon made to destroy you, but you don't have to worry'.

Good guess.
This separation could allow developments in characters like Yuma, Tabitha and Cynthia.

It would be very funny.

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

After the latest chapter, I'm thinking the 7 plus 3's goal now is to beat the organization and making the known continent into a country breaking away from the bigger nation...

and now we will have a 3 ways conflict..

I am curious what happens to raki, since it has been so many chapters since we saw him. Does he either get killed, or does he somehow survive, either as a male claymore type, or just as something else entirely?

Re: Claymore by Yagi Norihiro

Raki, if he's still living with Isley/Easley (and Priscilla), and has been continuing his swordsplay training with the former, should at least be able to fight a bit now... Or at least he shouldn't need to be constantly protected anymore. If he's indeed turned into a male Claymore or Awakened Being, he'd probably stay on the side of Easley for now, since they've been together for so long... That'd make for a nice conflict with Clare, when they see one another again.

But unless the Seven Ghosts decide to go south and take out Easley and Priscilla right away, I don't think we'll see Raki anytime soon...

"Soon" is a word I wouldn't use for Claymore though with every new chapter being released after two months at the momend. :blink ;)
Last time I visited the Job section of JumpSQ, they still searched an assistant for the Claymore Manga (http://jumpsq.shueisha.co.jp/contents/assistant/index.html). That insertion got removed by now, perhaps they found a drawer who accepted the strange hours of work (2 PM until 10 PM - perhaps Yagi Norihiro doesn't wake up before 2 PM, dunno). Just would be TOO awesome if Yagi Norihiro could releae new chapters faster in the future with an assistant now. :p

EDIT: Oh, wait. Got the Ch79 version of Binktopia. Last page, they (or Yagi Norihiro?) are writing:

"To be continued in the July issue (6/4 on sale)"

6/4 = June, no!? So, when will we be able to read the next chapter? June or July?

EDIT2: D'oh, I guess, now I know what they mean. ;) At least I suppose that they're using the same system that magazines about games use. They release e.g. the July issue in June, the October issue in September and so on, in order to show their readers that the magazine is so red-hot that you have to buy it. ;-p Am I right? I never read an anime magazine, so I don't know how they handle it.
