She's learned to maintain her Satan Souls for longer, gained access to stronger Satan Souls, and grown as a mage. It should be fairly obvious that current Mirajane would wipe the floor with a previous version of herself. Trying to use the fact that Juliet and Heine use ribbons and slime to say that "Alvarez-arc Satan Soul is weaker than Festival-arc Satan Soul" is yet another lazy excuse. Juliet's slime has corrosive properties. It's basically acid, and it's not much different from a blast of water in the way it behaves. Heine's ribbons are coated in lightning, and the lightning was what was hitting Mirajane anyways. Besides, Azuma hit Mirajane during the Tenrou Arc and do you know what Azuma uses? Seeds and tree branches. You act as if though this isn't a series with magic, and that their attacks behave like actual ribbons and slime that you find in a preschool toybox.

Hulk getting owned by Thanos in a boxing match during Infinity War, despite showing that he can jump skyscrapers and break buildings in previous moves, is not a nerf. Just because their fight didn't involve Hulk smashing everything in the surrounding apart, it doesn't mean he was any weaker in that fight than all the previous movies. Thor getting fat and drunk in Endgame, and doing worse against Thanos with no stones than when he had the entire gauntlet? That's a real nerf. There was a real tangible reason why Thor got weaker. Nonetheless Acnologia is still fast, and he can remain completely untouched by the machine-gun bullets fired from Christina. Tagging Acnologia when he doesn't want to be tagged makes you fast. At least faster than gunfire. Erza's swords were physical attacks. Sure a lot of her swords have magic, but a lot didn't. Satan Soul isn't an untouchable speedster. Mirajane in Satan Soul has been tagged by Freed and Azuma in previous arcs, and by Juliet and Heine in the Alvarez arc. For the purposes of this discussion, Erza dropping all her swords is more than fast enough to tag Mirajane.

Juliet and Heine are much stronger than Freed and they have ranged attacks, meaning it wouldn't have mattered whether or not Mirajane could fly. When has Mirajane EVER flown away from an opponent stronger than Freed before they could land a single shot on her? Couldn't do it to Freed. Didn't do it to Azuma. Didn't do it to Juliet and Heine.

Mirajane wasn’t even trying to move because she was nerfed. What do you do if you’re being attacked? Move out of the way. The attacks were concentrated on one area. They are not big blasts.

Now ask yourself how this stacks up to Erza's performance throughout this arc. Irene basically enchanted Neinhart to be so powerful that he was immune to Brandish's magic to fight Erza. Natsu lolstomped Neinhart, and then went enraged with END mode. Erza stopped Natsu and Gray dead in their tracks bare handed, then went on to fight Irene. Irene smashed all of Erza's bones and then pulled an asteroid from outerspace. Erza, with all her bones smashed, cracked the meteor open like an egg and then cut Irene out of her dragon form. Even exhausted, Erza (again with all her bones smashed) still got up to headbutt Irene. Does it make me a Mirajane hater to put Erza above Mirajane? Lol. I just simply don't believe that Mirajane can go around popping opponents far above her level in strength with macro when the manga literally never shows this happening, even when the situation would be seriously advantageous for her to do so.

Underestimating them means they're stronger than she gave them credit for. They were too strong for her to take in Satan Soul, so she resorted to Alegria. The mere fact that she had to resort to Alegria proves that Mirajane was trying very hard in that fight.

Except she didn’t have to resort to Alegria. Are you blind? She didn’t fight properly in her base form (which everyone can see because she didn’t fight like how she fought against Freed). Didn’t bother to try Sitri. Didn’t bother to try to Macro them. She jumped straight to Alegria because it had to have it’s time to shine.

Remember in the GMG when she used Sitri to one shot Jenny even though she would've still won even if she used the base form? It’s the exact same principle. New forms have to have time to shine in the story.
