Yeah, but that is a fairly different situation from a shinjin. As far as we know, you seem to need to be a shinjin ot be a kaio or supreme kaio. With earth guardianship you don't even need to be human, race simply is not a factor. Safe for the shinjin taking over somehow and limiting the selection to themselves, the whole godhood thing in DB seems to have a significant racial element to it. Except for the god of destruction and local gods.

This chapter looks hype. I love how Toyotaro showed way more of the Dabura fight,i always loved that dude as a villain in DBZ. It seems like we are somewhat obligated to watch the anime and read the manga now lol,what with all the different details in both. I cannot say i am complaining though,this arc has been great so far.

The latest chapter was good, maybe the best one up until now, despite the usual mistakes . Dabura's holding his own was a very nice sight. As for the rest, I believe Zamasu somehow takes Goku's or Goten's body over, maybe through a technique similar to Ginyu's "body change", that's how he becomes Black

The chapters of this arc are very interesting. They chose that timeline because of Beerus' death.

I wonder if there is going to be an arc that focuses on buu. DB ended at a point in the future from now with goku finding ub in hopes of training a warrior that he could fight with. However the power progression we have seen at this point is, well, ridiculous. Goku merely acquiring god ki (super saiyan god or SSBG) made him vastly more powerful than majin buu. As in, majin buu would not even register as fodder against the likes of goku. And then goku learned super saiyan blue, a transformation on top of that of a super saiyan god. And it seems like goku and even vegeta are well on their way to becoming vastly more powerful than they are now. Beerus is basically a rival to them and even now warriors more powerful than whis have been introduced. So.... why would goku think buu has the potential to be a good match against him? I guess the logic could be that if ub, a being with the power of majin buu, trains enough then he could surpass he gods. But to me that alone seems like a stretch. Perhaps if goku teaches that guy to use god ki but even that seems difficult.

I finally caught up... I'm American so I'm so used to listening to the DBZ dub so I'm not even gonna watch Super until Funimation dubs it. But yeah this arc seems to going in a good direction and really enjoying it. Here's my analysis up to Chp 16 so far:

• I saw someone point out some inconsistencies with the timeline, how F. Trunks went back 20 years during the Cell Saga but 17 years for Goku Black... not too pressed out about it.
• Beerus, even though he's still trying to blow up Earth, is my favorite besides Goku and stuff. He's pretty funny and likes to eat, basically me.
• I like Varos alot, she's pretty even though she hasn't been seen since the first arc.
• Hit, Frost are also pretty cool. Jaco is funny as hell when he made fun of Bulma's sagging chest haha.
• SSB is pretty dope, kinda need to understand the difference between it and SSGSS though

Looking forward to the next chapter. Anybody knows when they gonna dub Super?

SSGSS and SSB are the same thing. SSB is a simpler name for the form because it was getting increasingly longer.... Technically its not even SSGSS but SSBGSS. Their base form when using god ki is super saiyan beyond god. And then there is the super saiyan transformation which makes it the super saiyan beyond god super saiyan.

I noticed something interesting though. This is in the wikia about the super saiyan beyond god:

A Saiyan who obtains the form becomes capable of using part of the power of Super Saiyan God in this state, until they manage to re-unlock the Super Saiyan God form for permanent use.

So that would explain why goku used the super saiyan god form against hit. It's actually a higher state (I thought they were analogous).

Thanks fam! I'm getting it more now. When Goku was fighting Hit, I understood it that he used SSGSS to either match his time stop or bypass the .1 second advantage he had, but Goku didn't sustain or couldn't sustain it, which Hit pointed out. Kinda confused me at first but it's making more sense to me.

Another thing I saw someone point out in the comments section... Mai is supposedly older than current timeline Bulma? Or was the movie-based only?

IIRC the SSBG was specifically mentioned in the frieza movie. And it was goku who said SSBGSS. It even has a wikia refers to the form and makes references to the movie.

Goku was still yet referring to his SSB form. he was saying he's gone beyond a SSG now. Not that it's a literal form...:because it's not...:

If you want to fee like it is form go on ahead be my guess...But watching the anime & manga there is no such form...nly SSG & SSB....that's it

Dragon Ball Super ch16 has parallel moments with the Namek saga and Buu saga.
Trunks punches is similar to Gohan's attacks against Freezer's 1st transformation.
Trunks flashback is also similar to Gohan's training during the Buu saga.
I hope Trolly will debut in the manga.

This was certainly a turn from the anime this chapter, and though this chapter was not as good as the last one imo, it still was very entertaining. The manga seems to be skipping the first Goku Black vs Goku fight entirely, and to be honest i am fine with that. Though the fight was decent in the anime, it makes the power levels for the rest of the arc make less sense than they already usually do for DB lol. I loved the Mario Kart reference in this chapter with everyone playing what seems to be the DB equivalent of said Kart racer. These are the little touches that seem more "Toriyama like" that Toyotaro does, which make me think the manga is a bit better overall product than the anime. I have recently caught up with the anime, and i do enjoy it a great deal, but it has more inconsistency's than the manga from what i have seen. The characterization for Trunks is also better imo in this version. I wonder whether the person from the 12th universe that first traveled through time is ever going to be shown, as that seemed like foreshadowing to me. I loved that the manga kept the "Godtuber" thing, and it actually was done better, as not only was the design of the device that was used much better imo, but it's Zamasu who was watching not Gowasu. Which makes more sense in the story without getting into anime spoilers too much. Many other things were streamlined and really just were done better in the manga here. This chapter was not quite as good as the last one, but it still had some great touches and i really like where Toyotaro is taking the story right now.

Stream took forever with this chapter, yonk had the raws like 2 weeks ago. But this chapter was pretty good for an info dump chapter. Some takeaways:

• Lol @ Youtube and Mario Kart references. That was pretty good by Akira.
• Zamasu is obviously gonna turn out to be the alter-ego/identity of Goku Black. His heart is starting to creep down the wrong path, as shown by insensibly killing that creature from Planet Bababi. He's looking up info on Goku from the Universe 6 & 7 tournament now, learning he attained SSG powers. They're not even trying to hide it.
• Time ring seems pretty handy, which will be probably how Zamasu got to F Trunks timeline.

Beerus was good as always, the king of all things doesn't look too interesting compared to that other universe dude but probably more info on Goku Black coming from him.

The manga is really good right now, Goku is informal as hell to the omni-king, which was funny. Beerus staking out to kill the current Zamasu and Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks heading back in time to kill Black sound good. Also it was obvious Mai wasn't dead either, the cat gave it away in the chapter Trunks went to the future.

I think the differences in the manga are becoming even more apparent in this chapter of DBS. The High priest being mentioned as one of the 5 strongest beings was not put in the manga. Whis mentions they are angels much earlier in this version as well. The Zeno plot points seem the same, so i imagine this gives us an inkling of how this arc will conclude now in the manga.


The whole mystery of Goku Black is now lessoned by a decent bit. I imagine some will say that's awful since that was one of the driving parts of the arc. On the other hand i actually think this route made more sense. I mean it was good Kibito did not just learn the vague detail of Zamasu going and talking with Zuno, and then never ask him exactly what he asked. The conclusions they came to i felt were reasonable, and while fast you do have Whis, Beerus, Bulma, and Vegeta there, so you have a lot of brainpower. Goku's comment on Vegeta's question as to why Monaka was not chosen instead of Goku to switch bodies with was pure gold hahaha.
How goku has not kissed his wife after having two children is beyond me, and is better left without thinking too hard. The Trunks and Mai "kissing" scene was the same in the anime so nothing new there, however there is no resistance like in the anime (or at least not that we have seen). The face off was solid at the end, and i am looking forward to this first fight as it was epic in the anime.
