Elizabeth is the current heir to the throne because there is no other child that can ascend as the next Supreme Deity. Personally, I believe that the SD does care for her to an extent, since Ludoshel's offer indicates a form of parental affection from her to Elizabeth.
Even if the Supreme Deity dislikes Elizabeth and has little care or affection for her daughter, it's still beneficial to have the princess of the clan under her full control. I'm sure we can agree that Elizabeth has abilities that are very powerful for a war. Imagine if the Goddesses were in a war against the demons. Having Elizabeth active as the support has huge amounts of benefit, since her healing is easily the strongest. One example of Elizabeth's huge beneficial input is during the Indura battle. If it wasn't for her, there was a likely chance the Indura would've killed the Archangels or grievously harmed them. But since she was there, they came out of it perfectly healthy, whilst neutralising and weakening two commandment users. Having a daughter or ''pawn'' if she doesn't care for her in a war is very beneficial, especially when Goddess Elizabeth is arguably stronger than the AA's, or at the very minimum top tier Goddess class.
Personally, I believe the Supreme Deity wanted Elizabeth to be the heir to the throne because she was the only child and had the power + potential to do so. But because of Elizabeth's personality and ideals, her daughter out right rejected it unlike Meliodas who accepted his future position before his betrayal. Maybe this is why the AA don't recognise her as the true heir because Elizabeth herself refused the position immediately. However, I do believe the SD was perhaps persistent on Elizabeth becoming the heir but recognised she wasn't ready or suitable yet. Elizabeth's personality is not suitable for the next God and leader of the Goddesses, so to mould her own daughter into the best candidate: she sent her out into the battlefield during the holy war in order to change her ''pacifistic ideals''. After all, pacifism during a war can easily be changed. Imagine if a friend of Elizabeth's died right in front of her due to her peaceful ways? It almost force her to change ideals as she would recognise that her pacifism was foolish and incorrect. But, I believe this attempt from the Supreme Deity failed (incredibly) since instead of Elizabeth changing her stance in her ideals, she in fact forced them greatly on the battlefield and on the people around them. I mean, the Archangels wanted to eliminate the ten commandments but because of Elizabeth, all of them survived. One thing I have always wondered is why Elizabeth was specifically punished for her actions. I mean, all she did was fall in love with Meliodas and converted him, which is a benefit for the Supreme Deity since it brought over the second strongest demon to the Goddesses under the influence of her own daughter. Doing this also prevented a future Demon King from spawning and ascending to the throne - another benefit for the SD. The other action she was punished for was for saving the enemy, also known as not killing Derriere/Monspiet when they were unconscious. This isn't specifically a ''betrayal'' and something that is worthy of punishment. Because without Elizabeth's interference, the AA's might've suffered serious damage or even death. But due to her interference, the Goddesses were able to still neutralise two commandments and weaken them to a degree. I don't believe that ''saving the enemy'' and falling in love with Meliodas really deserved eternal suffering so it makes me question maybe the SD punished her for not conforming to the throne and her expectations. Kind of a ''You still defy me? Well let's see if 3000 years of suffering keeps you disobedient to me.''. Might be possible the curse was also a form of conditioning, to change her daughter into a fit candidate for the throne, since it would have the potential to once again eliminate Elizabeth's peaceful ideals.
If you look at Ludoshel, he directly disobeyed an order from his superior whilst fighting the commandments. Elizabeth, as the princess who is technically of a superior rank to anyone in the clan besides her mother, told him to step down and stop interfering against her purifying the commandment, but he completely ignored her (committing ''treason'') and went against such orders. Why doesn't the Supreme Deity punish him for his treason? Well to me it seems like the SD is much more critical and attentive to Elizabeth's actions than to anyone else in the clan because she is her daughter and the future heir to the throne.
Just to mention, I think there might be a possibility that the SD loves Elizabeth as a daughter. Since if she's the only child it leaves much more room for the SD to put attention on her. It would be a nice addition as well to make the Gods different. DK doesn't love his children whilst the SD loves her only child.
Let me start things off:
I don't think SD gives a flying f*ck about Elizabeth personally. She is valued only for what contributions she makes to the Holy war and if she uses her gifts to fight for her, the SD would forgive her and take her back. Elizabeth undoubtedly has a myriad of goddess powers which she excels in even beyond the AA, but the SD simply doesnt care about these abilities because she won't use them for her. Why put your child, however talented, in charge of your military if theyre just going to spout hippie peace bs?
Elizabeth is the heir imho. Simply because she is the only child as far as we know. But the need for an heir seems rather inconsequential since to all appearances the gods are immortal. The DK only wants Mel back because he's proud of him, not because he's dying and needs an heir. The SD otoh is sickened by Elizabeth's lack of antipathy for the demons and thus exiled her.
She currently has no rank in the goddess clan. Sariel and Tarmiel care for her and respect her abilities so they support her and call her "lady." However, Ludociel uses the term mockingly and the SD has cast her out until she eventually helps her win the war.
I believe she cares for Elizabeth's abilities, because they are exceptional and beneficial for the clan. But in a personal context, from a standpoint to a Mother and Daughter relationship - the SD doesn't care, she just wants to use her as the heir to the throne and future tool, just like how the Demon King only wants Meliodas as his successor and not because he loves/cares for him.
If the Gods are immortal and ever-lasting, why does the Demon King want Meliodas as his heir? To me that doesn't scream ''I'm immortal'' (DK perception) but rather ''I am long-lasting but eventually will die, so I need an heir''.
The Gods probably live for dozens of the average Demon/Goddess life-span (e.g 1500 years for an average Goddess is 5000 for the SD?). I don't believe they have eternal life, since they seem pretty desperate to acquire a power such as Merlin's ''infinity'' which has the potential to grant eternal life.
Elizabeth technically doesn't have a rank among the Goddesses, since it's just ''princess''. But with that title it naturally demands a lot of respect from those outside the royal family in the clan. Even after Elizabeth was punished and ''betrayed them'', the AA's still heavily respect her title as the princess. Even Ludoshel. He never disrespects her title, but only her character and beliefs. Since she has such a title and the AA's respect her, she has a great influence over them. Sariel & Tarmiel seem quite loyal to her and whilst Ludoshel isn't and freely ignores her wishes, the other AA's influence him. Ludoshel was trying to belittle her but the second Sariel told him to shut up, he did so. Elizabeth's position is quite convenient in this war. She commands the sins and has great influence over the AA's.
Elizabeth being the only child of the SG would be boring. She'll be only the "heir" to the throne because Elizabeth the sole child of her mother. Look at the dynamic between the 3 Demon princes much more interesting than would be. And Meliodas being heir to his father despite 2 brothers is more impressive than him being heir because he a only child.
How would it be boring? Elizabeth being the only child adds more chemistry and a deeper meaning to the relationship between herself and her mother, the Supreme Deity. Personally, I don't find the relationship from the Demon King to his sons meaningful or impacting, because he doesn't really care for them besides using them as tools of war or as suitable heir to the thrones.
If the SD had a deeper relationship with Elizabeth, maybe to the possibility of loving her - then it would add character for one of the Gods, and make the relationship between them much more interesting.
Meliodas in my opinion being the heir over the over two brothers isn't that impressive since he's just a behemoth and the natural option for the next King. Now if all 3 of them were equivalent candidates and there was a struggle for a choice of the next heir then that would be much more interesting and make Meliodas much more impressive as the heir.
Wow thats crazy bro but I like the idea. Imagine if Elizabeth has sisters who like Estarossa whom a Goddess whos suppose not to have darkness but she had after SD bore her.damn. Make it happen NS make it happen.lol
I really don't like this. Nakaba introducing siblings now without ANY foreshadowing and hints is absolute bullshit. He's had many times to do it but has failed each time.
Now, if Nakaba properly introduced them and build them in an acceptable way then I can accept this.
But on a personal note, I want Elizabeth to be the only child of a God because it puts more spotlight and attention on her - which I want because I love her so much. But that's probably me being a bit too selfish after watching an Elizabeth get no spotlight for near 200 chapters
