I don't think i ever considered dropping the manga. I mean, despite the flaws and sometimes disappointments... At the end of the day this is a manga. I'm not going to get emotionally triggered for a fictional work. Overall i'm reading this to have fun, and even when things disappoints me and i have reasons to be salty, i'm still genuinely enjoying the manga.
Tldr, this is FT and i've never put my expectations very high anyway... I'm still loving the manga.
With all that being said, one thing i considered dropping is the forums. After disappointing FT chapters i sometimes feel like i'm drowning in salt from people here. And by hearinng salty thoughts from people i get to see WHY chapters make salty, and i eventually get salty myself. Like the forums contaminate me or something.
Now dont get me wrong, i might just be a salty person from the get go. But i feel like i'd enjoy FT way more if i wasn't spending that much time here, trying to list every possible bad things Hiro does in the manga.
Overall we should all just enjoying FT just like we all did when we started reading it.
I'll agree with this post.
I don't intend on dropping the FT manga,
especially not because of any fanbase. But this has honestly never bothered me to begin with, since the fans have absolutely no influence on my judgement about any character, chapter, or series.
The "weekly salt" from the forums, as it has been dubbed, also tends to be easily ignored by myself personally.
And I actually don't mind reading other people's opinions about the chapters, such as any reviews or new ideas, because I can disregard "emotionally triggered" situations without a problem.
As far as the manga is concerned, I've been pretty open with the Alvarez Arc being a total disaster on many accounts. And while I am majorly disappointed in the events that have taken place in this arc, I have also been honest with my reviews and opinions regarding each chapter.
With that said,
criticism and
praise are both opinionated responses. Which is why I'm not concerned about "emotionally triggered" situations or the weekly salt, for that matter.
In regards to enjoyment, I find FT pretty enjoyable in all aspects, and that includes fanfictions that I read, any forum discussions, the manga, the anime, and even the upcoming RPG game.
Forum contamination and salty fanbases are created on our own accord, but also at the expense of ourselves as well. There's nothing wrong with participating in discussions or disapproving of a chapter, but I find that it is pretty easy to avoid the salt if the focus isn't there.
Emphasis should be on the content of the manga and not on the disagreement of opinions.
Of course, there will be disagreements when it comes to debates regarding power ranking or DF battles, but I'm fairly certain most people know what they get themselves into when they enter those discussions.
Participants' discretion is obviously implied.
