Welcome Everyone to the Fairy Tail hangout thread.

This is the place if you want to have more of a carefree conversations about Fairy Tail.

Just a little set of rules to help us keep the place tidy:


No heated arguments! This is supposed to be a place where you can have a casual conversation. No looking down at anyone or whatever.

No spam! This is obvious, isn't it? No one-liners, no useless posts,

No agonizing! Don't keep on asking for spoilers/raws/scans/translations, just be patient.

Talk about anything Faiy Tail related - manga, merchandise, cosplays, whatever. If it's not related, then go to the General Hangout Thread.

Two more things, just to make it easier on everyone...
If you're trying to make a point in your post, please, please make sure you reference(properly) whether that's image or link.

Second, read previous posts at least a page back so that we don't end up repeating and talking about the same thing over and over again.

About the Fairy Tail wikia discussion...does anybody have any ideas about how to proceed with this??

For those that didn't read Chapter 134's discussion thread, some of us wanted to contribute to a Fairy Tail encyclopedia similar to other mangas such as Bleach, One Piece and Naruto.

The idea is to have something to help us reference, inform, etc...

Wow, not much life in this thread huh.... Anyways, bout time fairy tail got a hangout thread, this manga deserves it. Hopefully this section will get as many posters as the naruto and bleach sections(one can dream...).

This has been bothering me for a while now. Do you guys think natsu and grey could be considered s class mages(yuyu hakusho anyone???)? Considering those guys already fought the best phantom lord had to offer and won, and they were sent to fight oracion 6, I daresay they actually are s-class mages. What do you guys think?

mmm... maeby they are S-class level but the weakest ones, i dont think they are at the level of erza or mistgun.. and about phantom E4.. they were really overrated totomaru´s and sol´s levels arent S-class , Aria ( who outmatched natsu) and Lluvia ( we havent seen her battle at full power) i recognize them a s-class but they are only the other half of the E4..

I don't thibnk they're S-class mages yet, they still lack the skill and experience that top mages like Erza,Luxus, Mistgun, Jura etc...Oracion Seis have shown...but you can see that they are in a tier above the rest as they are trusted to handle important missions such as defeating the Dark Guilds...

You are forgetting the fact that Natsu is the protagonist, and those have ceratin... traits. For instance, they are able to overcome ANY difference in power, speed, wits, etc, with sheer willpower. That COULD make Natsu be considered an S-ranked mage, given the right circumstances.

And Gray, being the "Friendly childhood rival" would not accept the fact of being left behind by Natsu, so, again, given the right circumstances, Gray would rapidly catch up to Natsu, thus becoming S-class too.

I'm not sayin they are S-class yet, since I agree with goldb, they lack the expirience other mages show (About Juvia I'm not so sure, but then again, we haven't seen her fight seriously). But in my opinion, they could complete S-class missions easiliy and defeat certain S-class mages.Rest assured, they will be S-class in due time.

Now for another question... Speaking of the "tiers" these characters are in... What do you think about Lucy? I believe she has practically limitless potential, and given time and effort, she will become one of the strongest members of Fairy Tail. All she needs is a way to support her spirits and not let them do all the fighting (Don't tell me she can fight alongside her spirits, like she did with Loki against that creepy Raijinshuu guy). A REAL way to support them in combat, and after that she'll just become a stronger character. Let's face it, her spirits are quite something, and I recall reading during the first chapters, she said when a stellar spirit mage gets stronger, so do the spirits.

No, I meant Iron Rock Jura of Lamia Scale; one of the 10 Holy Mages.

I hope Lucy gets strong enough to be able to summon more than one stellar spirit at a time without it taking visible toll on her, which means she needs to become physically stronger liek you said, also one day I hope she's strong enough to summon the stellar spirit king:

Oooohh... right. Jura. About him... hmm... well, I suppose he has the expirience required. He is one of the Ten Great Holy Mages, after all.

Anyway, Juvia is an S-ranked mage, and as I stated, I'm not so sure of her. Don't get me wrong, she is strong for the standards of the manga (Not so much as strong... rather, capable; Her magic is quite impressive), but not having seen her fight seriously for any longer than 2 pages... well, I'm not ceratin about her level.

We all await the day Lucy starts summoning more than one Stellar Spirit at her own will. But summonig the King on her own? Hmmm I reckon that won't happen. He is the strongest Stellar Spirit, their King; I suppose he won't be making a contract with a human, much less giving away his key (Supposing he even has one). BUT, I support the idea of the King coming to help out on his own at some point in the manga (Kind of like Loki, popping in whenever he feels like it, not being summoned).

I think we should establish what an s class mage is. I think we have two choices. The first choice is that an s class mage is someone who was comparable to erza, luxus, mistgun when the concept was introduced. The second one would be that an s class mage is someone who is capable of completing s class missions.

Considering the main characters and many others have grown considerably in strength since the beginning of the series, I daresay comparing them with each other would be rather inaccurate. I would prefer to use as a standard whether the mages in question have the ability to take on and successfully complete an actual s class mission.

If we usethe first option I mentioned as a standard, most likely natsu and grey are nowhere near an s class mage but I do think a serious natsu could actually give erza a run for her money(who are we to question makarov in that aspect???)

If we consider whether they have the ability to take on an s class mission, I think it is even more clear that natsu and grey are actually on the level to be considered s class mages considering A) they have already (unofficially) completed and s class mission and B) they are currently on a mission to take out 1/3 of the underworld.

As for lucy, I think she could be considered to be on the lowest concievable tier among fairy tails top mages. I doubt she can actually defeat natsu, grey, erza, the guy who uses body possessions, ect.... but using aquarious or loki she should be able to fight at a level considerably higher than what one would expect. Anyways, my 2 cents.

i have a question well i need your opinion guys.. im coloring a page with the Trimen of BluePegasus but i cant find a color for hibiki´s hair.. any suggestion? ( i dont think their color will be revealed soon and i cant wait till the release of the cover of the next volume)

So anyway,

On the S-Class mage rankings. I suggest you don't band around names such as Erza, Mistgun and Luxus since they are some of the strongest S-class mages around.

From the top of my head, ranked S-class mages I know of include:
Erza
Mistgun
Luxus
Gildhartz
Lluvia
Marianne (previously)
Fried

You already see that I'm running into a problem here: they are all Fairy Tail members. Perhaps what ranks an S-class in Fairy Tail is quite different to S-class throughout the world given the sheer power most of Fairy Tail actually have. The only S-classes I know outside would be the Ten Holy Mages.

But, with Oracian Seis we have been given a comparison. Erza is the most common of all S-class mages throughout Fairy Tail and her power is undeniably high. Against Oracian Seis, I won't go so far to say she was completely owned (particularly as it was 3 on 1 when she was bitten), however she had not struck Racer or Cobra before Hoteye made the Earth. Move. Under her feet. [/80's song].

I would wager all of Oracian Seis are of an S-class level. This of course doesn't mean they can't be defeated by someone like Natsu or Grey, both who have been shown to be capable enough to win against villains we "could" rank S-class, but the author has not.

Would be nice if there was a test to make mages S-class...

@bittman: IF Lluvia is an S-class mage then wouldn't that mean Gazille is also S-class since he was considered the 2nd strongest member of Phantom Lord after Jose Pola??

This s-class rank is getting thrown around quite a lot...Would I be right to say that it differs from guild to guild??

i.e whereas person A from guild A is s-class but wouldnt be considered so if they joined guild B

I also think each guild might have their own ranking system.

Lluvia was at lower rank than Gazille while in Phantom and when moved to Fairy Tail she became an S-class right away while he supposedly didnt.
Moreover, Lluvia was beaten by both Grey and Lucy (while she was controlled by the succubus magic), so I doubt she's that strong...

Maybe the S-class is about how how well someone can use his magic. I'd say all the S-class mages we know are very talented compared to others.

Favorite Magic? Something you'd like to see?

So, I'll be the first to admit that I haven't compiled a complete list of this sort of thing, but the people in the world of Fairy Tail use many different kinds of magic... almost a different type for each person.

So, maybe we can start putting together a complete list of existing characters and their magiks, or if you just want to mention something that hasn't been seen yet that you think would be really cool, go for it!

Personally, I would like to see some kind of 'elemental swords' magic. Erza has something like it, with the different Ex-quip armors she uses, but those are based more around the defensive capabilities than offensive. I'm thinking something along the lines of the Mystic Knight from FFV... might be cool.
