I have heard talk that he among a couple of other mangkas are missing...

not sure if this is true or not.

Crap, this is even worse than my worst nightmare.

The only thing i was ever worried about, was the idea of dying without playing games like Quake 6 or Diablo 5, not witnessing endings of cool plots. This is even worse! Ill have to suffer in turmoil of unfinished plot... God should have given plot shield to authors...

It almost certainly isn't true. What you're probably hearing is people terming mangakas that haven't been confirmed as alright as "missing" even though all it really means is that they lack a prominent internet presence.

If someone is just unbearably concerned, they could contact either Quarkboy, Crunchyroll's translator for the Fairy Tail anime, or William Flanagan, the translator for the U.S. release of the Fairy Tail manga. Both live in Japan, and one of them can probably give someone an answer as long as they're asked politely.

Understandable. A lot of people with no knowledge of Japanese geography are panicking and that's enough to make other people uneasy, or confused as to what the current status of things actual is. For example I've even seen someone surprised at the announcement that everything at Nintendo was undamaged/harmed by the earthquake when the fact is that Nintendo's in Kyoto and more than 350 miles from Sendai where most of the damage is centered. This was despite talk that indicated Tokyo was largely unharmed (Tokyo is just over 200 miles from Sendai). I've also seen someone that wasn't all that concerned become concerned when everyone else was worried about the status of their favorite people within the anime/manga industry.

Then again I supose some of the panic is understandable. Watching footage of a tsunami carry burning buildings along with it as it sweeps inland, or hearing talk of nuclear reactors at risk of meltdown are both pretty terror inducing things.

Where does mashima actually live though? I heard most mangaka seem to live in tokio which according to what I have heard was not hit hard by the earthquake, tsunami, giant monster or whatever else is currently affecting Japan so if he does live there then we really have no reason to worry at all.

For the most people in japan it's worse then hell and you're asking if the chapter will be delayed?!

same here i just want to know if hiro mashima is ok. i found out info about all my favorite mangaka but can't find any info on if he's ok. could care less when the CH comes out if the guy who works very hard to do it is hurt or has any hurt family memebers.

It was stated at the end of the Galuna Island Arc, Ultear is Ur's daughter. Ur's Tears is how she got her name.

Yea, I'm hoping for this too. Man, I might be alone in wanting Ultear to get owned either by Natsu, Gray, or both on the island because her arrogance is pissing me off.

do you even read FT?

I just read it once in a shot quite late and fast, and follow the last chapters now (I would like to read it again more carefully but I'm lacking time). I'm not someone who followed this series chapter by chapter and discussed about it since the beginning of the series (or even since the middle...I think). So if it has been stated once (like Mashiro said) in the manga there is a high chance I wouldn't remember.

But are you implying it has been stated that many times in the manga or just here (forum discussion) ?

What's up with the self righteous crap lol? It's not like asking about the manga releases is going to cause a second earthquake and is going to be the decisive trigger of a Chernobyl in Japan (which is a very real possibility seeing as 5 reactors have been compromised and apparently only elementarily dealt with so far). Obviously what happened in Japan is nothing short of completely horrible but that does not mean there is something wrong with asking about the manga releases. All of us take some time to read manga releases every week so it is perfectly reasonable to wonder about this.

That said, I am extremely worried about the reactors in Japan. One of them going off could be much more dangerous than the earthquake itself since radiation can and will linger for decades and have more long term casualties than the earthquake itself. The areas around those should have been already evacuated though....


Anyways, again, does anyone know where mashima lives? That way we can at least know how much danger he was in....

@kkck I think the radioactive gases released from one of the plants was intended relieve it from pressure build-up; right now it looks like both plants may have a partial meltdown. Thankfully 69 (don't laugh) governments have jumped on the case to help them.

Ultear detests her mother and was separated (probably kidnapped by Hades) from her close to birth or infancy IIRC so she most surely does not know her mother's magic.

And people are not restricted to one kind of magic. Gerard is well-versed in Darkness magic and his Heavenly Body magic; Brain knows Darkness magic and Archive; Makarov knows his Titan, Fairy Law, defensive spells, and elemental magics; Ultear has demonstrated three different kinds of magic so far: Arc of Time, Transformation, and mind control; and of course Zeref is the master of the magics of Life and Death. But it seems that you must be an extraordinarily powerful mage to master more than one kind of magic based off the people who've done so already.

As far as I know it's only been stated in the manga twice.

I don't think you need to be an extremely powerful mage to have more than one type of magic but rather you need to be powerful to be able to master two types. So far we have seen mages having trouble with just one type, learning a second would be both difficult and time consuming.
