Re: How long do you think Fairy Tail is going to go on for

If I remember correctly, Mashima stated that FT would be at least twice as long as Rave Master. RM's length was 300 chapters, so I think ending it at around 500 chapters would be a good guess. To be honest, considering its popularity, I can see Fairy Tail hitting the 10-year benchmark like the Big 3.

^you're quite good at naming things xD

I bet there are seven dragons though

we got
1-the 'black' dragon Acnologia
2-the fire dragon Igneel
3-the sky dragon Grandine
4-the iron dragon Metallicana
5-the unknown dragon parent to rogue and sting (supposedly deceased or rather MURDERED :bored)
6-I'm assuming the dragon on the mural is a new one, he resembles none and maybe it's whats hidden in the gate

We have five fr sure but that makes potentially six (or seven if sting and rogue had two parents but they mentioned parent it think)
This just in. The dragon on the mural is the Juubi. While I'm joking, the dragon on the mural seemed to be a cross between Igneel and Acnologia, plus possibly other traits as well, so it could be that all of the dragons were split from one original dragon. It would be incredibly uninventive after we've watched Naruto go through that saga for over 10 years, but it's not to say that Mashima couldn't go that route.

Re: How long do you think Fairy Tail is going to go on for

Well, the manga still has a few remaining plot points to deal with. The DS's past, whether there are still gods around (the ones the GS mimic), tartarus, ravel tail, lumen histoire, the dragons, zeref and lucy's mom. I think the whole thing about lucy's mom is going to be related to the gate so that will be dealt with this year and this perhaps would get us into the dragon and zeref elements of the plot. I give the manga 2 or maybe 3 years tops.

I don't think he'd go with that, more like thats the dragon king, most probably xD I totally forgot that dragon ^^

Re: How long do you think Fairy Tail is going to go on for

Hard to say. Mangaka are always bad at guessing how long their work will last... First, they tend to add stuff they find themselves interesting, and then their editors are encouraging them to stretch out the story as much as possible. Let's say the X791 time skip was the half way mark, 6 years since FT has started. So then let's add another six years from then and add two years. I'd say, FT is going to end around 2017...

Yeah, i do thing the same thing, but what about the Second generation DS with Dragon Lacrima implanted into their bodies. Aren't they based on real dragon?, if so then the poison and the lighting dragons are real doesn't it. So that would increase the amount to eight(8) if they are real that is. Also Rogue and Sting are know as the Dragon Slayer Duo, with Sting being called "The White Dragon", and Rogue, "The Shadow Dragon", so along with the 4 dragon you mentioned fire, iron, sky and the black dragon plus the two from sabertooth, the two Second generation DS (If there real) and the one on the mural (If it's real) that makes Nine (9) Dragons.

Hers some more types and names.
The White Dragon Zuneel
The Demon Dragon Killius
The Dream Dragon Necorine
The Moon Dragon Zataria
The Space Dragon Dizoria
The Nocturne Dragon Milliandrous, Has day and night forms that change every 12 hours.
The Golden Dragon Ariasellion

actually i was thinking there are seven plot focused dragons and thats for only first generation ds. Obviously as a species there would be more dragons which would make second generation ds a bit less rare than the first and third even rarer!

so it would be four plus two and the king which i assume pictured in the mural = seven

Re: How long do you think Fairy Tail is going to go on for

i think there will be an entire arc related to zeref, an entire celestial realm arc and possibly a dragon arc also

roughly 100-150 more chapters hopefully more

So you counted Rogue and Sting Dragons then, but not the Second Generation?. Its to be expected Sting and Rogue did say they killed there dragons to become true DS. And there's no proof of the Poison an lighting Dragons, (Do you thing it's necessary to kill a dragon to become a true DS?).

Something has been on my mind for a good while, the third Generation DS. This generation of Dragon Slayers have been raised by a Dragon, been taught their abilities and have also had Dragon Lacrima implanted into their bodies. What i'm thinning is that maybe the Dragon Lacrima that are in there bodies give them a different type of DS magic then what there Dragons thought them. Example, Say Rogue's Dragon thought him shadow DS magic while the lacrima give him water DS magic. It wouldn't be that far off since Natsu has Bout Fire and lighting DS magic now. Then again it could also be that what the Dragon thought them and the lacrima are the same type of DS magic, but what would be the point of having the same type of DS magic twice, all i can say about that part is maybe its just to increase there already learned DS magic to a much more destructive level which wouldn't be bad ether. So maybe they have two types of DS magic, while on the other hand the lacrima just increase the already learned DS magic to a stronger level, What do the thing?.

Well, the main purpose of being a DS is to mimic the power and constitution of dragons. This is achieved by 2 means so far, by learning DS magic as natsu and gajeel did and by using lachrima. Now, if DS's magic is all about mimicking dragons then using 2 separate methods that make you more dragonlike would likely result in the user being more successful in mimicking dragons and thus having a stronger magic. Basically using 2 separate sources of dragon powers should potentially make the user more dragonlike than using just one method. At least that is my own crackpot theory on the matter. Ultimately this would mean rogue and sting are closer to actual dragons than laxus, cobra, gajeel, natsu or wendy.

Its been proven that Dragon Force activated from a 1st gen DS user is more powerful than a 2nd gen DS user. I dunno if this applies to 3rd gen DS users but Sting and Rogue both are a mystery in terms of power. Especially given their extremely high stats. (well from Johnny's POV)

I just hope its not a one sided fight between Natsu and Sting until nakama/speech power kicks in for Natsu.

That's a good thought, not saying your wrong but i don't thing you really need to be using 2 separate DS magic will make you more dragon like. It dose increase there power by a very large margin that for sure but two (2) DS magic isn't needed to be more Dragon like. I thing its how well you use and fuse with your DS magic, and how well they get along with there dragon when they wear still around. Sting and rogue killed there dragon which means they didn't have any love for them. There's been lots of time when natsu has fought his opponents and there feeling and sometime seeing the presence of a dragon, that by its self shows you how dragon like natsu is, and at those time he had one (1) type of DS magic. Example, Natsu vs Zero, Zero say the presence of Igneel when natsu got angry while using Dragon force.

Hope your right, not saying sometime it's not good to see that happening, but i what to see Natsu destroy sting or an equal fight till Natsu wins.

Re: How long do you think Fairy Tail is going to go on for

Celestial realm doesn't seem likely to me, though there is the possibility if Mashima wants to leave that option open. There's also still Raven Tail and Tartaros, Lumen Etoile, and if he really wants to give Jellal the attention (which, given his track record, I bet he does) he could probably make a whole arc out of Kagura and Milliana as well. It would help pad down the amount of stuff going on in the currect arc too.

Your right. Now that I think about it he has been hinting about a Layla heartfelia story and I completely forgot about Tartarus( But who knows if they're even still around)

---------- Post added at 05:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:08 AM ----------

Well seeing how FT became the #1 guild after the war against phantom, becoming #1 again doesn't mean that it's the end, evidently. In fact there's still much that is unresolved, I do however understand your thoughts since everything seem to get in motion; Laxus is all friendly, Makarov has chosen an heir, Mystogan is no longer a mystery, Zeref has arrived and started to move, RT got crushed, the dragon king festival is upon us and Lucy has almost collected all the keys. However as I stated before there are still some things left, first of all I want to highlight Tartaros the last guild of the balam alliance, a guild Mashima just can't forget, then there's the lumen histoire which I think will have it's own arc, which may include a return from RT since they more or less promised to come back and then there's of course the Dragon/Layla saga which will probably be much longer than any before. So, all in all I think there's plenty of pages left to be read.

But do you think Tartaros is still around. He could easily write off. But it doesn't seem like something he would do ?

The best fight Natsu had was way back then, the arc during phantom lord when he fought Gajeel. My greatest expectation of Natsu going stronger is when he masters different types of dragon slayer magic compatible with his. Maybe, he'll be elemental.

Re: How long do you think Fairy Tail is going to go on for

Even if the tartaros saga will be dealt with, I still feel that there will be new enemies that will emerge. That, I think, foreshadows who the final nemesis will be. The biggest potential right now is Zeref who may change and be different from what was seen from him during the tenrou island arc. Magic games arc is a tease for the layla, dragon, zeref, celestial spirit arc. I still don't believe the dragons would appear in this arc despite what the last chapter says since, showing the dragons' would be too early. If it happened, that's rushed.

Even in the magic games arc, I feel that though sabertooth was defeated, I am hoping for a time where Fairy tail will face Genma. I know it's not a guild war because doing one would be like rewriting the phantom lord arc.

I am also hoping for an arc where it shows the Magic council's dark side. I want to see an arc where Fairy tail fights the magic council.

Yeah, maybe, the manga will end around after200- 300 chapters more.

Well, whether sting and rogue killed their dragon is highly debatable. Even then, if they did then we need to know the circumstances of this.

I don't think getting along with your dragon would actually have an effect here. I mean, why? The manga has never suggested this. There would also be the implication that DS is directly connected to the dragon it mimics which would be kinda weird at this point. Take a look at the GSs, wouldn't they need a relationship with a god to have their magic? Zancrow even went as far as learning actual GS from a human, a connection to a god was never implied. As far as DS magic goes I think it exists independently from dragons.

The reason I think DS lachrima makes them more dragon like is that on its own DS lachrima has already shown to be capable of making the users physically more dragonlike than normal DS magic. Just look at laxus and cobra, both of them have actual dragon scales when fighting. Natsu, gajeel and wendy generally only have their fangs and natsu has only shown a somewhat similar dragon form when using dragon force and even then he was not quite as dragonlike lachrima users. DS magic is about mimicking dragons, the more you can copy one the better the results should be. After all dragons are as far as we know objectively superior to humans at least in terms of power meaning that coming closer to being a dragons should have better results. Of course, this has nothing to do with whether gajeel and natsu would win or lose against sting and rogue (although natsu perhaps is some form of 3rd generation DS considering he has the lightning flame).

I see your point, the DS lacrima does make them somewhat dragon like, but again how long did they train to get to that point of taking on the appearance of a Dragon, cause everyone has to train to master or at least learn how to use there magic skillfully. As for what was said by Makarov Laxus had the lacrima implanted in his body by his father Iwan, and it was shown that he was a child when this was done. And he was about 17-19 (i thing) when natsu joined the guild, so he had years of training to reach that level of DS magic, and when we first say him he was in his 20ies or older so even more years of training. And as for Cobra i don't know when he got his DS lacrima, So maybe Natsu, Gajeel and Wendy just need to train harder before they can take on the appearance of a Dragon like the DS lacrima user. so i just thing Natsu and the others just need more training after all they are DS too. But i do see where your coming from the DS lacrima looks like it emanate more DS magic from the way you put things.

On another topic how does the lacrima get the dragon Slayer magic in them?, was it taken from a Dragon i thing so, cause it has bin said that DS magic can only be thought by a dragon so how dose the DS lacrima get's its magic from (hmmm real head scratchier). What do you guys thing?

Zancrow learning his GS magic from Hades (real name Purehito), and yet Hades doesn't have GS magic, how can you teach someone something that you yourself do not have. I'm thinning that GS magic and the other lost magics he thought them are archived in books, lost text/scroll and Hades found them, cause he thought all the Seven Kin of Purgatory lost magic, and he himself doesn't have any of those lost magic. Basically lost magic are magic that has bin long forgotten so its not far off that on leaving Fairy tail while on the journey of tracing the roots of all Magic "the Essence of Magic"that lead him to study Zeref he found books, lost text/scroll archived with lost magic and how to teach someone this form of Magic.

Well, based on what we heard sting and rogue already had DS magic when they implanted the lachrima. I agree in that normally you would need time to master a magic however rogue and sting had already mastered the very magic the lachrima would give them. In this regard I doubt they had to do training to master the lachrima itself as its actual usage so far would have been passive. Basically they would benefit as DS by being more DS. The only thing that could be potentially different is that as more dragonlike beings that first or second generation DSs they would have more dragon-ish techniques which the previous two generations would not have IMO>

Hades was supposedly able to use any magic as he was close to the source in some form so perhaps he actually could teach them those magics. I do think he basically simply passed on the knowledge of how to use those lost magics for the most part though. As long as he has the knowledge of the techniques there is no reason in particular for him to not be able to pass on the magic.

When was this ever proven?
Natsu vs Laxus. Laxus went Dragon Force vs Natsu but when Natsu goes Dragon force the power up is greater. Same with Cobra going DF vs Natsu's DF. To be fair, Natsu didn't go Dragon Force in either of those fights and he had help vs Laxus. But while 2nd gen DF adds more scales, the 1st gen get a higher power up. At least in the case of Natsu.
