I wonder how he manages to get shit on so much despite his panel time. I mean, he appears half a chapter every year or something. Hiro is dedicated to continue this, so we can actually expect another one soon.

Yea for all Jellal's worth he gets trolled a fair bit. You'd think at this stage of the story Hiro might just let Jellal cut loose... but he is expendable.

My gut feel is that he'll show up very soon and present another 'level' of ability.

Jellal doesn't have any plot relevancy. This fight is pretty much his final moments that won't be dedicated to his relationship with Erza. I doubt we will get any important shit from him after this fight.

We just saw some rushed pages. If Jellal is saying that he will have to use some sort of trump card we haven't seen by "out of options" then I am guessing that it will be used to hype August. It is too soon for August to be defeated by trump cards. Mashima is probably getting Jellal and CS out of the way here, like he did with GOI. If he fails against August, there's no point in him meeting Zeref too. August perhaps might be stronger if we don't count immortality but Jellal failing here will kill any point of that happening.

Jellal has some relevancy, but he is expendable. Like, his quest for Zeref, is expendable if Hiro prefers Mavis to deal with Zeref or something.

August is the villain who doesn't have any plot relevancy other than being the strongest mage not named Acnologia or Zeref. So he's basically a wrecking ball. He could wipe out CS to give some level of threat in the arc. I'm very much on the fence as to how August/Jellal will be handled because I don't see it as black and white.

As for August being defeated by trumps... I agree with that. If he's casually beating CS right now, then even Jellal's best magic probably shouldn't win. And if it does, it should be a very tough battle. I'll be more happy with this fight if help arrives, because that will likely mean the fight will last long. The fights this arc have been below average, and so far August' fight has been below average.

As much as I love Jellal, I do have to admit that it feels like Hiro tries to invent new ways to troll him. In the ToH he lost due to a previous wound, in OS he was an amnesiac and wasn't as powerful, in GMG he was trolled for being powerful (has that ever happened to another person?) and this looks to be the moment where he's going to get trolled to the next level. I've never really understood why it happens either, he's the only character of his caliber that gets trolled so badly.

If the fight goes the way I want it to then we'll either see a Laxus/Jellal combo with Jellal getting the final hit via mega-nuke or Meredy will appear and link CS and Jellal (or Laxus and Jellal) for a massive boost of magic. The one thing that I am praying doesn't happen is for an FT member to save him and for Jellal to say "I never knew ___ was so powerful", if that happens then the salt will be real.

If Jellal has at least 1% of pre-Edolas Mystogan's power then I fear for whoever he encounters.

Tbh August is winning easily against CS ( bar Meldy and Sorano ) but for me still considering how characters that weren't from FT was treated after the time skip I won't give him much hype here or raise my hopes high just later for him to be down to one or 2 already wasted FT characters ( )...

If we will get team that will go against him like Jellal , Laxus , Gildarts + remaining CS members ( Macbeth for support ) I will get hyped for that fight

But it's worth to say that August is a great character for me personally so far and i also somehow look for him to use a huge variety of spells ( not that in crucial moment he will forget that he can use magic at all and will stay for few panels wondering how fast and awesome his enemy is ... )
