It should be understanded as one day he was told that "we need you to finish in 3 volumes" and he needed to start counting chapters since. Of course, I don't know how exactly that works and when he "started counting", but the fact that he still had to cut 3 chapters suggests that there was more he wished to add.
I guess that sincd FT was always more popular he was given more chapters so only number of pages per volume stopped him.

Yes I see what you mean, but in the case of EZ where EVERYTHING was rushed from beginning to end I find it quite funny and ironic that he says he had to count for the end and that just 3 more chapters were necessary for him.

Whether it's the decision of the editor or the bosses of the magazine it doesn't change anything, Mashima is not a random mangaka he's a bit of a star of the magazine, I think he could have negotiated a little more and reached the 35th volume to do like rave, see 36 to do as he had said more than rave less than FT.

I know the story of Acno Doctor and it was bad for several reasons:

-Already it doesn't explain HOW he became a DS when that was the question asked, we don't know if it's DS 1st generation or a dragon eater or something else.

-Personally I'm not one of those who claimed that Acno has a past explained in detail, just saying that his village was destroyed and that his family / friends are all dead was enough for me.

At worst do a FT zero 2 on Acno, personally as a past I would have just added that at the beginning he hated all dragons, he ''' joined ''' the DS army and that like the other DS over time he went crazy and killed everyone, good / bad dragon, DS, human, that's simple and effective.

-Explanation about his name is zero, that we also don't know why the real Acno came back to the village to kill them all.

-And in the anime we lost time on the fight, thank god there are the famous 2 minutes of added fight but I would have preferred more fight and not the past of Acno who cuts the fight for nothing.

I'm not sure what are you talking about. Anime extended DS vs Acno, not shortened it.

Yes that's what I'm saying, in the anime the fight was extended with the 2 extra minutes.

BUT we lost time on the fight, by cutting it with acno's FB AND SO I would have preferred no FB from acno and even more time for the fight.

I hope he explores the gods though. That's the only thing he didn't touch given there's God Slaying Magic and Chronos. There's a lot of material he can use as a reference. Plus Anksheram was kinda the original villain before Zeref. Then there's "One Magic".

was he though? All he did was punish Zeref for trying to bring back dead. It is similar to Truth from Fullmetal Alchemist punishing Elric Brothers.
