Mixed feelings, I do love this series, but 100YQ has been of very dubious writing quality. I feel Erza has lost a lot of her personality from the original series, and Natsu's character is struggling a bit with flanderization. A continuation with more of the same at further escalating power levels is just going to be painful.

Perhaps if it's given enough time to be a fully baked story and he's had a bit of a rest after completing DR & 100YQ as he does seem a bit burned out at the moment. Preferably I'd even say switch out to a different era with a new set of characters, either past or future (though not a next generation series with the kids of the current cast, I don't think that tends to work very well).

That was our introduction to Ankhseram, yes, but presumably if he's an immortal deity linked to the idea of life & death, he's existed for eons, at least since life has existed in the FT universe, so massive scope to set a spin off in Mildian, Alvarez, or another part of Ishgar, over any number of centuries.

The thing is, we now know Zeref's backstory, and his story is pretty much done. And really the same is true of Natsu, Lucy, Gray & Erza. All the questions set up in FT have gotten satisfactory answers now. To me it would be far more interesting to explore the FT universe with a fresh set of characters, new magics, new backstories to delve into and new challenges.

I wouldn't say there's absolutely zero scope to continue with the current cast, maybe skip ahead a few more years and have them as an S-class team going on new missions (first arc could be a fresh S class trials), but for something looking into Ankhseram I think it would be more interesting to get a new set of protagonists to follow, and look at a different era/ location in the FT universe.

I would assume he predates the events in the X300s by some millennia/ even millions of years depending on how the FT universe is supposed to have started.

The problem isn't that he's making a new spin-off, the problem is the writing. We can see that with EZ and 100 Quest, he wastes all the potential of the story, either because he's moving too fast or because he's too lazy to emphasize/work on what's been said.

They set the plot, but after that, we just don't have time. The fights are rushed and rushed, and the plot is quickly over.

Here we see it with the Dragon Gods, who are supposed to be at 100% strength, but they get beaten in a 2-on-2 match, without any real difficulty. If Natsu and co. had gotten stronger, with a PU, training, or something else, it would have gone better, but that's not the case, so there's no real tension.

Now, with the last chapter, Natsu could beat Fire and Flame single-handedly if he were in full serious mode.

So, bringing back characters who would be connected to the Gods, God Slayers, Angels, gods, ANK, and telling us that they are infinitely more powerful than X character, that wouldn't give anything nice to see.

As for ANK, we would need to know if he's a good or bad god. As it stands, he would be a bad god (and damn stupid too). Cursing Zeref because he wanted to resurrect Natsu is okay, but hey, the teacher and everyone in the city who died because of it is a bit of an exaggeration.

Maivis cursed for using LAW, without bad intentions, and to save Yuri, abusing it, and then the same problem of the difference between LAW and Fairy Law or Grimoire Law is probably less powerful, but hey, ANK doesn't intervene there.

And then the same thing, in the end, he's an idiot because he cursed Zeref for wanting to resurrect Natsu, but in the end, that gave Zeref all the time in the world to resurrect Natsu, and once that was done, ANK didn't kill Natsu directly to punish Zeref and made fun of him.

So, as it is, ANK would just be stupid and mean as hell, and on the other hand, Mashima probably hadn't planned anything more for him.

I think it will be in this Arc. Mira & co appeared as a team. We know that Laxus is more lonely (perhaps with his Raijinshuu) but still here to help.
He will face a Dragon God, perhaps Ignia to a stand still until Natsu arrive.

Or he will crush some minions or low Dragons as a warm up.
