To summarize the interview, aside from the questions he's been asked for 20 years:

- The next mini-series will focus on Laxus.

- He regrets giving Natsu motion sickness, which prevented him from having fights in cars, boats, etc.

It's not like Wendy had Troia, but you had the "brilliant" idea to say that the more you use it, the less effective it is, plus you completely forgot about it, but whatever.

- He regrets not being able to better develop Acnologia's past.

And what's stopping you from doing that in 100 Quest? Or making a spin-off about him? Because, frankly, the anime's Facebook page is useless and doesn't answer any questions.

-That it's thanks to France that he realized he had international popularity and wanted to reach a more global readership.

Well, he doesn't really listen to opinions outside of Japan, and it shows.

-That the release of 100 Quest made things complicated every two weeks because he doesn't always remember what happened in the previous chapter.

That's a bit ridiculous. At worst, reread the chapter; it takes two seconds. And besides, are Ueda and your assistants just background characters? We readers remember perfectly well what happens in the previous chapter, so...

He knows that fans have high expectations for the couples, but that doesn't influence him, and he prefers relationships where the characters are in love but not yet officially a couple.

That works out to be about another year and a half left for the series to run with the fortnightly schedule. Interested to see if the 'FT continuation' series develops into a new full blown weekly serial, or if there are any other projects linked to the franchise that will start up. FT is by far Mashima's most significant IP, but he hasn't really done the brand many favours with 100YQ being a third priority for much of its run.
