That´s impossible, the mangaka from Rave and Fairy Tail is a little older than Oda, and started Rave before One Piece, and One Piece is the only manga that Oda made(except some one-shots), so i find difficult that Oda was his master.

wait what? rave master started before one piece? what did the guy do, take a 4 year break? one piece is nearing its 500th chapter....and rave master is only like 200sih.

Hiro Mashima was born in 1977, Oda was born in 1975. And Rave started a year after One Piece. Rave Master had 296 chapters when it ended.

I also found information saying that they were both assistants to Watsuki, along with the Shaman King author.
And some people say that during the year between Rave ending and Fairy Tail starting Mashima assisted Oda. But who knows if that's true or not.

Er...guys maybe you should take this to the hang out thread, its getting a bit off-topic.

They should consider changing the title to something that sounds more interesting.

In my honest opinion the title is what attracted me to the manga. Titles are what really stop or start me from reading a series. As for fairy tail, the name i understand is a bit unusual but that is what made me stop and actually think about reading it. In my view it was different and having something unusual does help attract attention to a series.

As for it being "better than naruto", I agree it does not have the predictability that plague other shonen series, but for it to become better than notable and famous manga's such as naruto, the art style needs to develop more. It still has a touch oda and that is what i believe makes people drop the series and mistakenly think it is just a copy-cat. But yea, it does have potential in becoming better than naruto and other major series.

I love this Manga I only started reading it by mistake but I think it's up there with One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach I think it's better than Bleach maybe even Naruto. Great Characters and Plot There's still so much more to expand on in This Manga.

agree. Fairytail and rave master are not in the same league. I do read rave master, provided that i've no better manga to read. And rave master,does have lotsa cliche.

I love Mirajine, and am dying to see she kick ass. Perhaps, she could transform into her enemy's nightmare, and scare them for good (sounds cliche). I like the idea that, she can transform into her previously defeated opponents and imitate their power. That's pretty cool. But i somehow doubt it.

She also used sleeping magic, so it's clear that she's just using basics. You can have more than one magic to use, after all. Makarov had like five, but one preference.

But if she just transformed to fight, wouldn't that be like Elfman?

I just had nothing to do so I decided to start reading the first chapter of it. I thought it was a girly manga... I was hooked on it from the start. It's really good but I cant say it beat Naruto all the way.

Becasue both manga's excel in different aspects. So I'm still reading Nartuo. You never know the story might get dull for Fairy Tail... -Rubs lamp..."I wish Fairy Tail never gets dull!"-

Unlikely. As far as I can tell, she's now just completely obsessed with Gray. She doesn't look like she'll fight much anymore, anyways.

Just curious, there are so many characters in fairy tail, why ain't there any discussion on them? So far, we only have Marijane, Jubia. How about Natsu, Lucy, Erzan? I thought they are the main characters, no?!

Well Marijane has her topic because her past is still shrouded in mystery. Arguably Natsu's past is still relatively unknown as well, but the fact that Marijane was once an S-class mage more interesting to me.

Jubia... Well she was one of the most powerful mages in Phantom Lord but now she's trying to get into Fairy Tail, so I guess that's a topic to discuss?

Erza SHOULD have a topic :P

As for Lucy, bah, the only reason why she's still around is because she has big breasts and is almost always half-naked or in revealing/provocative positions... Not that I'm complaining

But i really think Natsu's relationship to Igneel is rather interesting aswell, but guess it will show in due time, but i want to know now .

I also agree that Lucy isn't as interesting as the rest, though she really shined with in the scene with Leo/Loki and the stellar spirit king. And she has quite some advantages.. :P
