Yes, a short amount of time is called a moment. Gildarts could've hit Acnologia and then he might've lost and we could say it was over in a moment, can't we?. If Gildarts had landed a hit on Acno that made him bleed and then Acno Ripped Gildarts arm off and all of this happened in under three seconds then it could be called a moment. It's unclear who did better against Acno, so we can't decide anything based on that. But it was clear who did better against August and that was Gildarts.you are trying to explain things we didn't see. gildarts literally said everything ended in a moment. I won't going to debate on something so obvious.
acno fought him because he was strong? zeref said that acno doesn't give a crap about human. they are just Insects to him. gildarts stood on his way and acno ended him in a moment that's all we know. the same way jellal stood against acno who was trying to kill wendy. jellal actually dodged his roar and hit him.
serena who's gildarts equal got one shotted in a moment too. while jellal blocked one one of his attack and pushed him with one of his spells. it's clear to me who did better.
He clearly cared about Irene after seeing her fighting prowess. Acnologia ended him? Gildarts is still alive. You keep repeating that Jellal hit Acno but why would Acno dodge any of his attacks. Remember, before time-skip every time Natsu challenged Gildarts for a fight and attacked him Gildarts wouldn't dodge it insted he would just take the attack, Why? because the attack is not going to damage him so there's no point in dodging it. It's the same with Acno why would he dodge an attack that's not going to damage him. Pushing something has nothing to do with fighting prowess. Even christina could push acno. The attack Jellal blocked was meant to kill wendy, it was much weaker than a regular attack from acno. For example the Natsu's against Ajeel's underlings was much weaker than Natsu's attack against Zeref. They don't use the same amount of power against all opponents.
