But it does mean that at some point, a slayer's defenses against their own element will fail. This might not apply to human levels of power, because slayers generally occupy the top of the food chain anyways. However, if you toss Natsu into the sun... I very much doubt he'll be completely immune to fire. I agree that Slayers have a great defense against their own element because they eat it. However, in a fight, it's not always possible to eat the elements. This is especially true if your opponent is faster than you and throwing punches. And sometimes, it simply doesn't cross your mind. I don't see why being a curse makes it different, because Natsu could still eat Jackal's fire. Zancrow was too strong for Natsu, because Natsu was getting overpowered. It wasn't just that he couldn't eat Zancrow's fire, it was that he couldn't keep up with Zancrow. Not being able to eat Zancrows fire only made it so that Zancrow's advantage over Natsu grew larger.
A curse is different because it does not have the same ethernano particles that supply's a person's energy or MP. Natsu is a Dragon Slayer wizard who uses MP to power himself. Because Face can nullify magic (including the ethernano particles) but not Curses means that they are not the same. As far as I'm concerned, Natsu would have to be a demon right now if he were to eat it.
As for Zancrow, I don't see any indication of his flames being too strong for Natsu to consume. Wendy hinted she had a bad feeling about it, so that tells us that it can't just be the power alone. Because if it was, then Natsu and everyone else would sense it just the same. I guess I am not too familiar with this scene anyways. I've always labeled it just the same way that I label nonsense when I see it.
So, is it really that hard to imagine that if Red Lightning is a special type of lightning that it wouldn't be able to either overpower Wahl, or just be different enough that Wahl can't convert it into mp? After all, we have ice that doesn't melt unless you have a moon drip light on it from a certain island.
Yes, it is really hard to imagine that. I'm not saying it didn't happen. I'm just saying that how is happened is not legit. I don't see what is wrong with calling it PoF or Nakama Power which results in a cheap move... I mean we can't rely on assumptions or hype, only feats. That is all I'm asking. Otherwise, I can apply the same logic and say that Erza's feats were always legit. The reason why she could kill Azuma was because of the way she swung her sword, so in theory it is different from from her normal sword strikes which is what made it powerful. Maybe that specific attack she used on Azuma is has different properties than her regular attacks. What are the properties? I don't know. It just is. Sure, ice that doesn't melt is not applicable in real life but it was explained that it was the kind of magic that could only be reversed by something called a moon drip. Even Ultear cannot reverse or nullify the form of ice when her magic is specifically capable of doing so.
I'm not sure what you're saying by this. Without the MBP, Laxus wouldn't have been at a disadvantage. You and I agree here.
Having your organs fail does put you at a disadvantage. You and I disagree here.
Maybe the MBP were interfering with Wahl's ability to detect the dragon lacryma? Or maybe Wahl didn't deem it that noteworthy?
That is why I was asking whether you believe it to be similar to cancer or a stroke. The process in which the organ is slowly failing is not a major disadvantage at all and shouldn't keep you from losing a fight. Now if the organ was literally deteriorating at that exact moment much like how cancer would impact a human body, then I would agree. The reason why I question this is because we saw Laxus not even breathing hard, yet all of a sudden he drops to the ground. So my thinking is beforehand, it wasn't as bad. It was more like your heart slowly increasing in beats per second. Then it reached a certain point, where Laxus was on the verge of dying if he didn't get any medical attention (in this case, dispelling the magical barrier particles).
If Wahl couldn't detect the lacrima because of the magical barrier particles, his analysis was either not complete like he said it was or it was just plain ineffective. If Wahl didn't deem it noteworthy is has an intelligence level compared to the likes of Jacob. Or he was just unprepared...
Hasn't there? Maybe not straight up fire, but wasn't it the case that when Natsu ate something like Laxus' lightning or Etherion that he got sick? Now Natsu can actually convert both of those into power. However, wouldn't the difference between the young Natsu who got sick trying to eat Laxus lightning and Tenrou Laxus be nicely explained by the fact he got more efficient at converting lightning into power?
Red lightning, whether you like it or not, isn't just straight up lightning. So the effects would be similar.
The rate at which he eats any type of flame doesn't matter. The type of flame shouldn't matter either. I can see why Natsu would get sick after eating lightning and etherion though because he is a fire dragon slayer so he is made specifically for fire only. Besides, Happy explains this to a certain degree in Chapter 1.
Basically, Happy was saying that Natsu's body is meant for flames/fire.
So if
Red Lightning really is just lightning and not cold plasma or anything, it is hard to believe that the properties are considered foreign and effective to Wahl's system.
Natsu might have better destructive power than Laxus, but that doesn't mean all his other stats are better.
I agree. Natsu probably has lower average speed and intelligence although his DF form would make him on par with Jellal's speed. Intelligence is hard to assess because I don't know Laxus' intellect. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. In versatility, probably Laxus. But I don't see any feats in this timeskip that would make Laxus more durable.
Well, no. I'm just saying if Marin and Brandish weren't there, Jacob would have never been in that situation in the first pace. I'm not counting Jacob's personality as a real weakness.
Natsu did damage Totamaru by creating a flame so big that it hit both him and Totamaru. The reason Natsu was helpless towards the end was just because he got motion sickness. Well... it was somewhat implied that Natsu wouldn't be able to eat Rainbow Fire but that's only if you believe different types of certain elements can't be eaten by a slayer, and you dont'.
True, Jacob wouldn't be in such a position but my point here was that some opponents, you just can't defeat unless you have help which is legit or PoF and Nakama Power is involved which is nonsense. I guess the only real and better example I can give you here is Silver's immunity to ice. He was an absolute counter to Gray.
You're right, Natsu did hit Totomaru. My mistake. However, if Totomaru was a decent opponent, he wouldn't let Natsu touch him because he counters Natsu. I guess you can say Natsu would win the fight but my overall point here is that Totomaru can easily be undefeatable against Natsu if he was just as reliable as a Spriggan.
