Erza needs anti-ice armor against Gray just like she needs anti-flame amor against Natsu. You don't need an armor against sand cuz sand doesn't burn or freeze you. Sand has no internal effects, the sand will simply trap you or gash your skin.

Fire burns you, if you don't want to be a charcoal by the end of the fight, having some anti armor would be helpful.

Ice is extremely cold, if you don't want to have your blood frozen, some anti armor would be good to reduce its effects.

Smashing Slayer ice is no easy feat either. Compared to regular ice, slayer ice is durable.

There is a reason why slayer ice can instafreeze Atlas flame's flame. A regular ice Mage would have to put high concentration energy and tremendous effort to accomplish just freezing the base.

Besides, Gray can reduce the atmosphere's temperature low enough to make the weather conditions unfavorable to Erza. On the other hand, that same temperature will energize Gray.

I'm not saying the armor is made out of ice and will repell ice 100%, but she will need some sort of thick clothing to resist the freezing temperature.

Which of course will restrict her movement still and give Gray the advantage.
I doubt Erza can match Natsu's with flame empress armor. Even if she can better resist the heat, that does little in terms of keeping up with speed, power, or durability. In order to keep up with Natsu, she'll need armors like Nakagami to deal damage. Why does Erza need to have a specific armor to counter someone if she has can match their power, speed, or durability?

We've already seen people cut ice with far less than what Erza has in her arsenal.
As well as break the ice on the ground with a magical beam
So why couldn't something like this crush through Gray's ice?

You're not getting it. When it comes to fighting an ice Mage, physically cracking the ice is the least of your worries.

Gray can lower the atmosphere's temperature down to the point Erza will either be freezing to death or fight in an uncomfortable weather condition. Erza isn't immune to cold and Gray can bring the temperature down well below freezing point, so an anti-ice armor is kinda necessary.

FYI, human are warm blooded, their blood isn't meant to withstand freezing temperatures.

Also, about your spoilers:

Sorry to break it to ya, but I have never seen any proof of somebody chopping down Slayer Ice the size of Gungnir, IM: Silver, or Zeroth Destructive Bow.

What you showed me was chip or crack, not even a cut. That is like but a fraction of an inch, a wimpy feat.

Idk what you tried to show me there, seems pretty irrelevant.

You do know the giant was covered in a layer ice right? That wasn't even solid ice. Lolz.

Just making a dent in that layer of ice will not stand a chance against Gungnir's thick solid ice.

If I can't use the argument that Gray can instafreeze someone on Erza's caliber, how do you expect me to let you use the argument that Erza can slice through ice as thick as Gungnir or Ice Make Silver?

THE DUDE ONLY chipped off a piece of ice! And that was only a layer of ice! Not even SOLID ice!!

Until you show me proof of a blade cutting through thick solid ice on the magnitude of Gungnir, IM: Silver, Zeroth Destructive Bow, or Ice Make Cannon, then you can't use that argument since I can't use instafreeze argument.

You have no feats.

If I can't use instafreezing Erza as an argument, you can't tell me that a dude with a blade can slice through solid thick
slayer ice like IM: Silver... let alone shatter or break it.

That flying bird shot a nuke, Erza doesn't have any nukes in that caliber. Lol.

Erza punching a hole through the cube took a lot of effort. Imagine Erza having to do that everytime Gray unleashes a wall of ice. Erza will reach fatigue before Gray even gets a scratch.

Gray can easily freeze Erza. Just lower the temperature down far enough where Erza will be shivering and freeze to death.

To cut the crap...without anti-ice armor, Erza won't win. But then, when was the last time that I said something that somebody actually cares. :derp

Once again, Gray can't freeze anyone solid. He has to show us feats that he can casually freeze people like Silver.

Gray fans just take things to the extremes.

Scans of Gray actually bringing the temperature down to a level when the opponent is freezing to death or show me when it was stated that he can lower the atmosferic temperature to such levels.

That shows that Silver's ice can be cut by normal slashing attacks by fodder. This means that attacks on a higher level, such as Erza's, can probably destroy huge masses of ice. Not to mention that Erza is faster than Gray.

If I can't use the argument that Gray can instafreeze someone on Erza's caliber, how do you expect me to let you use the argument that Erza can slice through ice as thick as Gungnir or Ice Make Silver?

Energy levels and attack potency exist for a reason and that is to compare different attacks. Since Erza's Cube piercing feat is above any of the spells you've named, there's nothing going against Erza destroying them.
You have no feats.
You're acting as if Gray can casually cast all of those spells and you're acting as if Gray's attacks are more powerful than Erza's.

If I can't use instafreezing Erza as an argument, you can't tell me that a dude with a blade can slice through solid thick

Why would she have to slash through it though? She can either dodge it or tank it since the spell won't work on characters above MCB level.

That flying bird shot a nuke, Erza doesn't have any nukes in that caliber. Lol.
Apparently Erza piercing the Cube and clashing with bloodlusted Kagura isn't enough to show us that she has stronger attacks than a small nuke.

Erza punching a hole through the cube took a lot of effort. Imagine Erza having to do that everytime Gray unleashes a wall of ice. Erza will reach fatigue before Gray even gets a scratch.
So you're saying that Gray can cast town level ice barriers before Erza even gets to him? Erza is faster than Gray and she wouldn't need attacks on that scale to shatter ice.

Since when has Gray ever maanged to lower the temperature of anything to the point where someone is unable to fight? I'm not talking about freezing them in ice, but merely lowering the temperature of something to a point where they can't fight?

Even just a layer of ice is sufficient in proving that the ice can be cracked. However, here are some images of Natsu shattering Gray's ice
And also Ajeel breaking out of Ice-Make: Silver once he was frozen:

We've seen Erza lance armor tunnel through cube. We've seen the shockwaves of Erza's armadura fairy blow up an island. We've seen Erza's nakagami starlight take out Ajeel himself. Do you really doubt Erza's ability to cut down something like Gungir? I'm not even saying that Erza would necessarily win this, but to say that Gray would take this easy-to mid difficulty just because Erza doesn't have anti-ice armor? Whaaaaaaaat? Most people give Ajeel a victory against Erza with at least mid-difficulty, and that's with someone who has better stats all around.

Insta freeze didn't stop Mard Geer... a demon... he broke free of it. Keep in mind that DeS magic is super effective against demons, and insta freeze did not damage... but Gray used a very simple spear move on Mard Geer that hurt him, so really insta freeze isn't a damaging move.

IM Silver is a large AoE move that Ajeel broke from by leaping. So it just requires that amount of physical strength to break from it. Anyone above fodder has a realistic chance to achieve this.

Personally I think IM Silver's main use is to freeze attacks, which it has shown to be very effective at. If you actually look at how Gray deals out offense he uses instafreeze to stop attacks and then preps a spear/sword type ice move to actually do some damage. He did this against Mard and Tempesta.

Against Erza IM Silver would pretty much be a waster of MP given her moves aren't huge AoE attacks. Maybe instafreeze can stop her for a second so he can get out of the way. She'd easily break from Instafreeze imo. Gray has other things he can do to fight Erza.

new here, so first off, what does pof means?

I'd say Erza medium difficulty. Erza is just very versatile with all her weapons. And I don't think that Gray has the variety of attack to counter that. Also Gray's attack style form (closed fist over open palm) is slow, straightforward and open to attacks especially from a fast and aggressive melee type fighter Erza. Once erza close their distance, I don't think there is a way to counter erza's attacks.

PoF = Power of Friendship

It is usually referred to Nakama Power where the battle becomes one-sided due to plot reasons or just plain character development.

Gray wins on the higher end of medium difficulty. I expect Gray to be able to beat a Spriggan one on one, something Erza can't do.

Erza high diff. Nakagami armor vs. DeS Mode Gray would be entertaining but somehow I feel like both will end up no clothes after their brawl. Gray overpowers/counters Erza multiple times but Erza gets him for the final blow

Right now, I'd say its up in the air. Feat-wise, I'd have to give it to Erza, she's simply shown more, even if it is a bit PoF etc. Gray could give her a red hot challenge with his Ice Devil Slaying magic but really I think Erza can pip him at the end of the fight, so Erza on the higher end of the scale of high diff imo.

Gray would kick the crap out of Erza just as he did with Invel.

At this stage, Gray doesnt even need cleverness or versatility...he's just far stronger than her. Erza couldnt even match Ajeel when he was fighting in the air.

This now i think gray would low diff her..he's just too strong..he beats invel way too easily and invel is way above erza..i think gray wins this low diff

Change my opinion to Gray mid diff. Erza got beaten convincingly by Ajeel who likely isn't too much stronger than Invel if that.

Gray doesn't even need his ice it seems, he could just punch her down based on what he did to Invel (those were some hand to hand strength feats for Gray).

If Gray can hold on to his emotional power up (from Juvia's death), then he'd mid-high diff Erza.

If we're talking Gray's level of efficiency in ch498, then it's Erza high diff.
