I agree with HxH being the best shonen arround.
I do not see anything which comes close, honestly (and i can elaborate that in a very long post if someone asks me to).

Also, I wouldn't call togashi lazy.
He has other priorities than his manga, that is a different thing.

He obviously puts family and private life (which includes his health) above HxH, which is perfectly understandable in my opinion.

HxH seems like being a hobby to him which he certainly loves but only exacts when he feels like it.

That is something which makes fans sad, but it is also perfectly acceptable to me.

Togashi never failed to deliver in any arc of HxH (unlike than in his first project, YYH and unlike any shonen artist i know (including Oda).
I do not think he would be able to do that without the Hiatus.
HxH would degrade in quality the moment he does not have absolute freedom with what he does.
And for some people absolute freedom means that they only work on something once every 2 years.

In my opinion, the only reason he is still working on HxH is because he loves it, he does not care about how many people buy it too much.
His wife is rich, he is rich, he jus does not need to worry.

How does 'milking it' correlate with 'creating the best shonen' ?

I don't see any milking, we had very versatile arcs, no eclatant plot holes and a high quality anime .

If Togashi wanted to milk it he could just do redundant arcs about the spiders.

Idk, maybe DESPERATION, I thought you people would too be familiar with. Plus, I think everybody here is trying to put Togashi on a pedestal. I mean, he is great, but most certainly not the best. Plus, he is so lazy; too damn lazy it makes me feel like I'm working as hard as a doctor in fucking Mumbai.
That's subjective, HXH is my favorite manga. I said it somewhere in this thread before but he's not the only mangaka who takes long hiatuses, of course I don't like it but we can't do anything about it at this point. He's not really milking the series with so many hiatuses, if he was there would be several spin-offs or something similar to promote the manga, it would not really be a bad thing....

It does correlate, you can create the best by pausing every time you think it's about to go down side. And by that, you create the illusion of being a genius, that plus developing the I-don't-give-a-fuck attitude result in high sales throughout the year. Taking breaks that long and that often just because he can get away with it is exactly what "milking it" means.

Holes? Talk about "In", Togashi's big fuck-up.

No matter how much we crib, we will all jump to the chapter the minute its released. I remember complaining about the insect arc as well, how pathetic it was while reading the manga. But as soon as the election arc started, which completed before going to hiatus, i was eagerly waiting for the next chapter.
And then the 2011 anime came out and i realized i was an idiot about the insect arc, it was amongst the best arcs in all shounen..

On the comment of HxH being the best, i was going to comment that its not, but when you think about it, it is as good. Naruto lost its fans way before it ended. Bleach lost it ages ago and while OP is going strong, it also has to do with no strong competitions from the best of the shounens. However, the minute HxH chapter comes out, its all about HxH for me. I am spending more time in this section of the forum than OP or others. It has never lost fans due to story, and maybe some due the hiatus. But I am sure they will all jump back.

But pausing at points at which you need time to think what you should do next is a GOOD thing.
And why is 'In' a fuck up.

Yeah. Maybe it's a good thing, good for Togashi off course. Why not, wait a while to clear your thoughts, and by 'a while', I don't mean years. Take weeks, even months; but not years. Believe me, I'm done with HxH.
About "In", people keep asking me this, I'll tell you what I told them read my posts in Aura Combat and How Nen Works thread, it won't take a minute.

What you mean by ' a while ' is clearly irrelevant, the only relevant thing is how much time Togashi wants and is able to distribute to HxH.

He can decide that on his own, he is giving a service and people want to buy that service.
If you say you do not want to read HxH anymore because the service is not enjoyable for you because of the hiatusses, there is noone to stop you.

But to say that artists do not sometimes need even years to do what they envisioned in th ebest possible way, that is just wrong on a lot of levels.

Oh, now i read your Post about in...It is not a plot hole at all.
You are just trying to find flaws, aren't you?

I just wanted to make a point. But sincerely, I hope it comes back soon, and that you all enjoy it. I'm afraid HxH isn't for me any more. Maybe I just see the worst in things. I apologise for any disrespect.

The stuff we got about the DC was far too good for me to ignore.
I agree that the anime ending was well executed and could have been a fullfilling ending point for the manga, but that didnt happen.

Togashi won't stop making HxH, he wants to finish it. So unless he cannot go on due to his medical condition, we will see it finished eventually.

The link you posted does not mean a lot. Bookstores obviously saw an opportunity to boost sales, nothing more, nothing less.

I think having an arc as huge as the DC arc is exactly the thing togashi is going for after the boat arc.

Or possibly we will get mini arcs for every calamity.

For information, Bookoff, the company quoted in the link in the message above, is a second-hand books company which sells a " wide selection of books that appear like new at reduced prices(wiki)".
Considering how unexpensive is already a new manga volume in Japan, seems to me that this news isn't really a scoop, neither is it relevant. It's probably just to obviously fuel controversy.

I think most people forget that Togashi, doesn't really need to work on "Hunter X Hunter". He's already accomplished a successful career in the Manga business and I imagine since he owns this series, he can do what he wants. And most people don't even buy the volumes or at least try to buy the WSJ magazine that publishes the chapters they appear in.

Honestly, do not blame Togashi, if he said f**k it and decided to end it all together. Even the best-selling manga today are mainly rehashed versions of "Dragon Ball", and most people don't want anything new or original.

you are right.

Togashi is the type of person who does what he wants and now it seems he just want chilling. but this type of personality makes his mangas so good because he never does manga for fans he does manga for himself... he doesn't care about character populirity level and he isn't afraid to kill his own character if he think so.

so we can not predict what is in his mind but I also think that he will return after the rest and then we will get hte DC arc!
