They did not kill everyone I think, just probably the armed and the government, I do not see the interest for them to waste time slaughtered everyone.

Hiro literally planned the ending the day he wrote the chapter. He likely has no clue what the 100 year quest is about, and spin off doesn't usually entail a big story plot. Hence I am leaning more towards lighthearted next generation stuff (because he knows HIS FANS want it), or/and what happened to the Aquarius key since he mentioned in at NYCC 2017.

The 100 year quest was to give a nostalgic factor to the end of the series with Team Natsu heading out on an adventure. That's all. Many fans would not be interested in this as a spin off, as there are other characters fans want to see. He would be foolish to draw only team natsu and exclude the rest of the guild.

That's a big deal IMO and just as "official" as the trouble twins novel (not by Mashima, only approved by). The "baby" for Gajevy was only implied, we didn't actually see them. We saw them outside the manga and in a fantasy. And he likely only gave a nod to these twins BECAUSE of the novel.

There won’t be a next generation because the last arc never hinted at it since spin offs and light novels are always hinted at in the manga. Also there being two spin offs makes sense since the last arc hinted at the sequel being about the 100 Year Quest and the search for Aquarius’s Key while the other spin off will be about what the other guild members are doing right now with Laxus, Mira, Lisanna, Elfman, Cana, Ever, Bickslow, and Freed as the main characters. Hmm. There’s been more interest expressed for a next generation instead of a 100 year quest. I won’t deny people haven’t asked for it, but from my observations of both the Japanese and Western fandom (which I can say I’m pretty much part of both now), the interest lies more in either the next gen or the search for the Aquarius key.

As I stated prior, Mashima-sensei has made statements in both New York and France that give an impression that he’s likely going to explore the next gen at least somewhat. He’s also put thought into how to go about Aquarius key.

I do also beg to differ about the manga hinting about spin-offs and light novels. Some of those light novels came from out of nowhere.

Eh, if I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but I have met the guy and talked to him, so I did get to learn a little bit.

Well Mashima already said that if there was a continuation he when do the search for Aquarius’s Key and Mashima already said that those kids are jokes so no next generation. Also I remember seeing a France article that said the sequel is the only spin off that will take place after the series ended so whatever the other spin off is unknown as of right now so maybe the other spin off could be about Lucy searching for Aquarius’s Key during the past year. While the sequel can start with Team Natsu coming back from the 100 Year Quest after 1 year and the twins are already born and Makarov died not long after Team Natsu left to go on the 100 Year Quest.

Well Mashima can start the sequel with Team Natsu returning from the 100 Year Quest showing that they succeed and even he doesn’t know what the 100 Year Quest is he can still think of a reason for what it is. Also even if he draw them they weren’t seen before the series ended since for a new generation series to happen the kids must be seen before the series ended and these kids were draw after the series ended.

He could start it with them returning, or it could be a huge time skip to the next generation. A spin off could be about anything.

Kids don’t have to be present in the original series in order to be in the sequel. That’s no rule or law stating they have to. That’s just a a very silly thing to say. Dragonball, the most inspirational series for mangaka including Mashima, is a prime example. Gohan did not appear in the original, we saw Goku holding him in Dragonball Z where his friends were surprised he had a son. In the manga, Gohan was introduced in “part two”, so yes, the DBZ equivalent.

Again the 100 year quest was merely to end the series in a nostilgic way. Hiro said at NYCC he planned the ending when he drew the final chapter. I don’t know why some of you guys are thinking so deeply about this 100 year quest.

Next gen would just be dumb and a bad idea. Seeing characters around the age of the readers grow into parental roles and becoming adults with people they hung with is the only appeal to me, but that's as far as it goes. Think about it, what force would have to be made up for the role of the enemy? Acnologia and Zeref are dead, 6 of the Spriggan 12 are dead, and Alvarez as reestablished relations with Fiore once Hisui took over as queen. That's why I'm not understanding why people would want to see this other than some one-off episode. It's seriously not as good as it sounds, 100 year quest or Aquarius' key search sounds more likely given the comments from Comic Con.

So Bosco was supposed to be in ruins but had to be rebuilt since then.

Well I won't mind a Brandish/Alvarez spin off since I always had a feeling that there would be a Brandish/Alvarez spin off, it would explore more of Alvarez, and I would love to see more of Brandish.

The whole new era thing just refers to an era of peace and Zeref said the same thing at the end of the Tenrou Island. I mean when Acnologia appeared Zeref said this is an end of an arc and with Acnologia's death symbolism the end of the era of Acnologia which is why it's an era of peace.

It does not need a purpose, Hiro has already said he wants to make the fans happy. I would prefer a spin off on aquarius key to a spin off on next gen, but it is possible. Everyone has different preferences, we'll have to wait to find out.

I'm not setting my expectations to high since I know that when certain series end like Fairy Tail the sequel starts off from where the last chapter left off just like Rosario Vampire and Akame ga Kill did.

Instead Spinoff's should focus more on Aquarius's key or 400 years past especially DKF.He can easily do 12 chapters spinoff on both of these.

You mean like the Rave Master extra chapters when Elie and Haru go on their date night and Nakajima is watching Levin you know what I think I can deal with that as long as the omakes are done similar to the Rave Master extra chapters. Well the search for Aquarius's Key will be done in the sequel since Mashima said he plans to touch on it in a sequel and the events about 400 years ago will be expanded on in the anime so you don't have to worry about that. Also we still don't know what this second spin off is going to be about so we can only guess what it is and I just thought of something which is if the sequel has 232 chapters we would end up reaching that 777 chapter.
