Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Umm, hi everyone.

I just wandered into here because I have a question to ask in this section, whoever it's.

I am a really hardcore fan of Hunter x Hunter and it's my second best favourite series of all times with also lots of characters who I love. I really love the story of Hunter x Hunter and its twists. The point is...

I would like to write a fan letter or mail or e-mail or whatever to Yoshihiro Togashi as long as it reaches to him. Japanese, English or whatever language is okay, I hope someone can give me instructions on this. X3

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Well, I'm not entirely sure about this, but I believe fan mail for mangaka is usually sent to the publisher's office, and they'll sort the letters and distribute them to the respective editors, who pass along the mail to the authors in question.

You'll have to somehow figure out the japanese postal adres of Shueisha then. And write it in japanese, 'cause I'm pretty sure Togashi himself doesn't know english, and I wouldn't count on his editor (or even the postal workers) knowing it either.
If you want to be absolutely safe, just write at least the adres and instructions in both languages, and perhaps even the letter itself.

I highly doubt you can find a way to send an email directly to him. These japanese authors tend to keep their private (email) adresses hidden, obviously.

Another option: it sometimes happens that companies that license mangakas works overseas will take care of fan mail and send it to that specific author, but that rarily happens. What you could possibly try, is send an e-mail about this to Viz publishing, and ask them if they could redirect your fan mail somehow.

But if you try that, make sure you arrange it with them via mail first, before you send anything, and make it clear to them that you'd be willing to pay for the necessary postal costs of sending something to another country.

Keep in mind: it's a million times more likely that Togashi would bother reading your physical mail than any possible e-mail you might want to direct at him.

Well, uhm, hope that helps...

Publisher's office? So VIZ or Shounenjump or something like that?

SHUEISHA, Inc. “Weekly Jump” Editorial 2-5-10 Hitotsubashi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 101-8050, JAPAN

^^ I found that at http://www.shonenjump.com/e/manga-shou/stokin.html but I wonder if I am at the right location.

I see. Well, some mangaka tend to have their own personal websites which they manage comments so I was hoping I could contact Yoshihiro Togashi that way or via official e-mail but yeah, most mangaka keep their real life separate. :(

Another option: it sometimes happens that companies that license mangakas works overseas will take care of fan mail and send it to that specific author, but that rarily happens. I doubt I could do it. I am in a country where Manga isn't published so I don't think I can ask those overseas publishing companies. However, perhaps if you could be more specific...

VIZ said:
How can I get in touch with a manga creator?

You can send in fan letters to our office and we'll do our best to forward them along to the manga creator. Please send all mail to:

SHONEN JUMP P.O. Box 77010 San Francisco, CA 94107
I browsed around VIZ and found that but how should I write the letter? I mean, how should I make them know that it's a fan letter? Just write the letter in the way I would like to but the letter's "To" is "Yoshihiro Togashi" or the package's "Recipient" is "Yoshihiro Togashi"? :worrybunny

But if you try that, make sure you arrange it with them via mail first, before you send anything, and make it clear to them that you'd be willing to pay for the necessary postal costs of sending something to another country.

I doubt VIZ have an official e-mail that can take in all sorts of questions, I mean, I think they only have one for customer service and not fan service. :sweatdrop

All in all, thanks for your help. I was on taking NAT-3 exam on the previous 8th so my reply is a bit late. :s

@brigid001 - Yes, I love Nurarihyon no Mago the most because the story and the character designs are neatly done but I don't really have a die-hard addiction to the characters of it. For example, I am madly in love Feitan, Kurapika, Killua & Hisoka of Hunter x Hunter or Itachi & Sasuke of Naruto(actually, I just love NARUTO's flashbacks) or Ulquiorra & Hallibel of Bleach. KHR is just eye-candy for me, I guess. :toc

@kkck - Thanks, I will try. :)

Sooooo.. this may have been said in the past but does anyone think that Jin exchanged the ability to see his son to break his limit. If so I wonder if that means he'll die when they meet someday. But then again I wonder why he would have agreed to meet Gon had he been alone after Greed Island...

Perhaps he will only lose his powers if they meet... But then this would not be such a strict condition. Hm....

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

There has been no official news regarding the return of the Hunter x Hunter manga at this point, but there is a small rumour:

Supposedly the 27th volume of the manga is to be released in the US in march of 2011, and since the 26th was released (in the US) roughly around the same time as the previous 'return' of HxH to Jump Magazine (in Japan), some people are assuming the manga to return (in Japan) somewhere in march/april of 2011.

But yeah, that's not really based on anything, and it is mainly wishful thinking. Long story short: no news.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Can someone explain to me how welfin's ability works? I can't recall when that was shown and I don't quite get what it is that it is supposed to do.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

It was introduced back in chapter 276. First Welfin chooses a target, then he loads a bullet in a form of question or order, and if the target doesn't answer or obey, then the bullet will be shot. It seems to be very powerful.

There are things far worst than death and it depends on each person what is the worst thing for them.. to hunters loosing their nen is quite possibly one of those or atleast I assume so o:

It's not returning, that's from 2009's announcement, volume 27 is already out.

What are you saying? It says 2011/1/4! It's not about the 27 volume!

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

It's faked, they changed the date. January 4th is a Tuesday in 2011, WSJ comes out on Monday. In 2010 The 4th was on a Monday. It's the same announcement page from the beginning year. You are just giving yourself false hope, it's not coming back yet.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Sorry for the random post, but I would just like to point out the Manga and Anime Awards we are having. It's basically like our version of the Grammys for the best manga and anime. So if you have time, please head over to the Manga and Anime Awards section and nominate your favorite series, characters, etc. Thanks.
