^Omg, the pace is really going up O_o
I still think the best place to end an episode would be the Spiders worrying about Uvo =D
Now, the fight is 46 pages long, but the frames are really huge, so comparing to usuall HxH pages I'd say it would be about 35. Then the flashback is 4.5 pages and Gon&co. parts before the fight are 5 more pages. Those parts could be omitted though, but I believe Killua's story (1 page) will be left to make the impact. Still, the episode should be really packed. Awesome.

Hope? They wont. It's in the ending. Clear and simple. A tittle isn't always about the whole chapter. Guys, you're sometimes too much over-drama. xD
Kite is in the beginning. Haven't seen him yet. Anything is possible. So again I hope they don't skip Zepile.

A tittle isn't always about the whole chapter? Give me a break. I suppose then Leorio not opening the gates by himself is a "tittle".
You said yourself that the gate scene was a huge mistake. But they opened the gate anyways so what difference does it make?
Who cares if Leorio doesn't get his moment to shine? I mean he's not a "fighter" anyways. And why not get rid of Kurapika's
wooden swords I mean he never uses them anyways. Or how about Gon's fishing pole? I mean it's just a useless memorabilia
from his father. It's not like he actually needed it. Oh what? You wouldn't want them to get rid of the fishing pole.
WELL WHY DON'T YOU STOP NITPICKING!?

"Overdrama". Yeah, when I complain about them skipping one of Leorio's big moments...wait did I say one of? Every friggin moment
Leorio has a time to shine Madhouse completely ignores it. Because they want to focus on the "crafty" side of Leorio. Puh-leez.
And don't give me the "Oh Leorio has another big moment in the manga". YEAH. ONE THAT WE WON'T SEE FOR ANOTHER 2-3 YEARS IN THE ANIME.

and considering that Ging LET Leorio punch him...It's actually the LEAST impressive Leorio feat.

But like I was saying. When I complain about all the times Leorio does not get his chance to shine in the anime I'm "overreacting."

Yet Machi has pink hair? OH MY LAWD! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!

You know what? Forget it. Maybe I should be a drone and after every episode say

"That"

"Was"

"A"

"Good"

"Episode."

Because apparently having criticisms here is a crime.

A quick note: episode 48's title might actually be "A Connoisseur's Impression" instead of "The Virtue of Judgment." I chose to translate it to the latter because of Madhouse's typical 2 chapter pace
(meaning that episode 47 would end before Uvo vs. Kurapika did)
, and
Kurapika's choice to use the Judgment chain in the following two chapters.

When did I EVER say Madhouse dislikes Leorio? I'm quite sure I haven't said anything like
that so please do not argue as if I have unless you can provide a quote where I actually said that.

Madhouse is doing one of two things either

1. Intentionally editing Leorio's character
2. Unintentionally editing Leorio's character due to poor pacing.

Either way both do not sit well with me.

The intentional editing of characters is what I found bothersome with the 99 series and now it looks like 2011 will do the same.

Why is it such a crime to want the anime series based off the manga...to actually follow the manga?

Leorio may be a lover. But that doesn't mean they need to edit out his "brute strength".

Honestly, if they were doing the same thing to certain other characters people would have a fit. I'm surprised so few seem to care about Leorio
because for a moment I thought Leorio was HUGELY popular here. But maybe they only like that "soft hearted" side of Leorio.
But I don't want to have to settle for one half of Leorio. I want the entire characterization as Togashi designed and Togashi designed
Leorio as someone who although rarely DOES have combat traits.

What if they skipped.

Gon's sense of smelll

Killua's cat faces

Kurapika's argumentative nature

Hisoka's getting "excited"

Chrollo's love of books.

Wing's clumsiness

Kastro's playfulness when talking to Killua

etc

Togashi has made the characters the way they are in the manga and that's the way I like them and like for them to be in the anime.
I don't want them to only focus on certain aspects because Togashi did not make the characters as so. Togashi made complex characters.

I want Madhouse to showcase that.
I never said that you mentioned that Leorio is disliked by Madhouse. My intent was more a general response to a common quip, not to your specific complaints. I'm not saying that your complaints don't have merit either. As I said before, it was an excuse. An attempt at explaining something that doesn't have an answer.

Well, Zepile is fully colored in the ending while Kaito was shown only as a silhouette.

A tittle isn't always about the whole chapter? Give me a break. I suppose then Leorio not opening the gates by himself is a "tittle".
I think that wasn't a metaphor, he probably meant that we are probably looking to much into the titles of the upcoming episodes.

"Overdrama". Yeah, when I complain about them skipping one of Leorio's big moments...wait did I say one of? Every friggin moment Leorio has a time to shine Madhouse completely ignores it.
Again, I doubt that was said regarding Leorio topic. I guess it was about lack of Zepile.

and considering that Ging LET Leorio punch him...It's actually the LEAST impressive Leorio feat.
Well, not only that, but he also almost became a Chairman =3 Not that it shows his brute strength...
But yeah, I'm really disappointed that it is all that is left of Leorio's cool moments. Tho I'm pretty sure that it can't be omitted as it has a really huge impact on the storyline.

Fight scenes I think go by faster than dialouge
Yeah they do, but I didn't expect MH to use it after I saw Gon vs Hisoka which was covered at a 2 ch/ep pace.

Because apparently having criticisms here is a crime.

Lol that's probably my fault for you thinking that, since I got worked up at someone last week XD But no one thinks having criticisms is a crime. They are all just giving their opinions on the matter, and as it happens some don't feel as strongly against this omission as you do. Like I said before I'm a Leorio fan myself so it is quite annoying to see his scenes edited for whatever reason, but I want to finish this arc first before I decide whether this impacted my enjoyment of the series or not. I mean if they do this arc well (which I feel so far they have) I will overlook these irritations. That may not seem fair to you, since you want it to depict everything like the manga, but that's how I feel. The end result is what I'm going to focus on so let's hope Madhouse does not keep changing things and I'lll be a happy girl.

Believe it or not I'm less upset with people not giving a darn and more so with people acting
like I'm this unreasonable idiot who decided to hate on Madhouse for the slightest of reasons.
That I'm just splitting hairs over basically nothing.

I dunno maybe I'm just taking things the wrong way due to my frustration from the episode.

I'm just gonna say it wasn't the best episode but it could have been worse and hope for the best.

Dude, let me tell you something. I don't care if you critique or criticize on how the 2011 anime did the manga some injustice. The other hand we have a right to criticize the 1999 anime because that shit was hella unfaithful..It's not the same thing with the 2011..

It's just that you made like 3 posts overexaggerating that particular scene and making it seem like Leorio has no role for HxH. Just because they messed up a few things in the episode doesn't mean their gonna mess up the whole arc....(i'm hoping they don't). I'm just saying criticize the 2011 anime reasonably..or else i'm gonna respond to you the way i am.. lol

We totally should.
Yeah, your comparison/review was pretty much spot on to me.

I think the fact that this was right before the big fight for 47 is the real downer for me.

But it is true... if we've b!tched about Nippon's unnecessary changes and saw them unnecessary or missed the mark we should b!tch about Madhouse's changes to show that we are not total biased to the new adaptation.

But what we complain is more than hair color or clothing or even the blood. We complain about the plot and character development moments. When either of them miss the mark, they miss the mark and that's what matter to us who care about the plot and the characters.

We are not blind fan boys who give 10/10 to everything they get. We got our opinion and we can criticize and tell when someone miss' up something or not that we see important and we give our honest opinion. We don't go crazy on everything or boycott the whole thing for one minor change that's so unimportant when there are bigger things to notice, like this scene:

We were amazed by how bloody this scene was, but there was one a-hole who said it looks terrible, why? Because the clothes are clean and no holes on them. I mean, seriously?! You ignored the fact that they were able to show all this blood in a morning time slot and the only thing you care about is the clothes of the dead from a distant shot that you can't see it unless you zoom it in?!

We aren't that type of complainers. We know how to complain and what to complain about.

But hey, we are still humans. we are not perfect and we get the wrong judgment sometimes, but we learn from our mistakes and we listen (or read) to others' opinions and not some snobs who think we are the ones who knows it all.

But it's not just THAT scene. It's ALL the omissions that have been happening that have bothered me. Consider it the straw that broke the camel's back.
Yorknew has been the most liberal of all the arcs it seems and while I thought some of the fillers were not too shabby if it means cutting out stuff from
the manga then I'm against it. I do not care for this downhill trend that is going on in the episodes. Yes, the episodes are still good. I did give the
episode a 7.5 out of 10. Which is above average rating and I think quite fair.

I just don't want this to turn into the Death Note anime...also by Madhouse.

It was great for the first half but then come the Near and Mello arc (which I will say in the manga I like BETTER than even the best of the L vs Light arc)
and Madhouse gave a slightly abridged version with an alternative ending. I hate the anime ending for Death Note. But I love the manga ending and
it's just like GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH why did they have to change it!!

Granted I don't think 2011 is at that level. But the more things change the more I worry it will.

I dunno maybe I should just lower my expectations.
It just sucks though because for a moment I thought
"Hey. Finally. A hxh anime for us manga fans."

Now sure, it's difficult to expect a 100% faithful adaptation and I say from 1-38 it's been about 90% accurate.
But now it's getting to be more like 75-80% accurate from 39-46.

Sorry if you guys feel like we think you're overexaggerating. I think I speak for everyone when I say it's opinions like these that keep the forum going, negative or positive.

I agree with you completely. I like these type of posts from you..I learn a lot from them. Talking shit about Leorio was what got to me. Leorio has been portrayed greatly in this anime. It's just that lately they've been doing his character more of an injustice. I like Leorio and his moments but what madhouse is doing isn't making him seem any less of a good character. They just missed opportunities on making him a great character....It saddens me but i don't want that to hinder my judgement on how they'll handle the rest of the story.

Well, I only got to watch the ep. today, and I have to say it's nice and all, besides the arm-wrestling part. Not only have they removed one of Leorio's moments without a reason (as some of you already acknowledge, again), they did so in favor of some underground arm-wrestling non-sense. Seriously? Gon just did that in the open and noone cared (authorities, at least). Was it because of the bets? Maybe, but betting in a damn arm-wrestling competiton? Really? Comparing to the manga, were we saw an underground arena fighting, bettings, legal or not, would be completely understandable (fights to the death come to mind), but this? *sigh*
Then the utter non-sense of another announcer, in clothes then again appropriate to an fighting arena, jumps out of nowhere to announce the hide-and-seek. At this point I was like "not sure if trolling" :notsure
Seriously, they just changed the whole thing, but kept this character even though he feels out of place? C'mon... The rest of the scene went more close to the manga, but the points above really made it a bad change to me.

That's the first time I got disappointed by this series (for a little), and knowing animes e.g. it'll not be the last one. Not to sound like the whole thing turned to crap because of that, the episode was good at it's whole (I do remember the other 20 and so minutes of awesome, the ending in particular, but I agree with Shinobi-03 and his review), but it's one of the reasons I don't like anime in general finally making a strong stand in this anime in particular, a.k.a. the changes to the plot. Hopefully they'll keep those things as they were until now, minor and rather enjoyable (even for manga fanatics like me).

Yeah madhouse has been doing good with the story. Hunter exam was executed nicely, Zoldyck was excuted nicely, Heavens areana was done almost perfectly, and now york shin....I don't see how the quality on how they're portraying the manga would stop. York shin has been doing good on delivering the scenes and still has non-manga... non 1999 poopheads... entertained. I don't see how they can fall from the story now when they have everything they need right in front of them. They might have dumbed down some parts of the manga but the anime still manages to capture the mature tone of the arc.

Edit: whale island was done almost perfectly as well...just the kite remaining non existent is my only complaint.

Well, I believe if you are in a serious discussion that have rules to be followed and things kept organized you ought to take it seriously in order to be taken seriously. Even for a subject like what we are having now. If you kept joking and make fun of others for their opinions then in return we won't take your opinions seriously because you didn't do with ours. That's the way it is.

Even for a subject like what we are having now. If you kept joking and make fun of others for their opinions then in return we won't take your opinions seriously because you didn't do with ours. That's the way it is.
When i put lol i'm not making fun of anyone.. I just don't want to come off to serious because I'm not trying to. Makings statements such as "madhouse is neglecting leorio" does not make sense to me. Leorio was one of my favorite characters to see in the Hunter exam...The way Madhouse did his character during that time was great. Posting unreasonable things such as i mentioned have no sort of point and i address the matter the best way i can. I put Lol because i find it a bit funny but i don't want to come off as some sort of asshole either. Anyways if i come off wrong my bad.
