Great improvement in artwork and panelling. If you take Psyren, which is one of my favourite manga's and this, you will see a world of difference in the way the panels are ordered. Miho feels fresh as a main character and I can't imagine yet how she will grow as of chapter 4. The first chapter already confirmed that she's not gonna end up as a useless heroine outclassed and underdeveloped for the spotlight of the hero.

I agree, the artwork and panelling were very nice in comparison with Psyren's first chapter. The mangaka has definitely improven his skills. I liked the first chapter a lot because it had a decent pace and story. You don't see it very often that after the first villain is defeated that there's still 8-9 pages for some sort of epilogue. The female lead isn't finally annoying nor bland. She will have an important role in whole this story.

Really liking this series so far, probably because I also really liked Psyren. Always been a fan of series with spirits , shikigami and the like. Plus, Mako`s really funy,
not really the typical heroine. But isn`t the thread made a little to early?I mean it`s Shounen Jump, who knows if it won`t be cancelled when it starts getting ranked.
You can never be sure what will be popular with the japanese. Oh well, hope it will be succesful.

Kyosuke enrolled in school but I wonder if he's just undercover or if it'll be permanent. I was hoping the next possible supporting cast member be a female, and it looks like one is introduced in this chapter. I hope she sticks around.

Looks like the entire atmosphere is a lot lighter right now, well, I wouldn't like to already reach a fight with what could be the main villain when we barely have any characters. I hope the scans will catch up soon so I could figure out the nature of the new characters.

A demon appears, Kyousuke ends up befriending him (after the demon shows he's utterly weak and the girl says the demon is gross), the girl starts getting along with Kyousuke but acts like a tsundere and doesn't outright say-it.

Little bummed the new female character didn't turn out to have some sort of ability, felt this story could've gone on for one or two more chapters and developed the new character into a rival of the protagonist. I'm digging the new familiar and the overall design of the creatures in the series.

I think the new girl will end up supporting Kyousuke for his school like or something. I mean, their relationship in two chapters progressed a lot. At first Saya (name of the new girl) found Kyousuke "gross"; she tells him he is three times in ch7; in ch8 while she doesn't outright admit it you can see she's opened up to him (I think she'll fall in love with him too)

So I was right about getting a little info on kyousuke past, but was surprised that the short-haired detective from chapter 3 grew up with kyo. I wonder if this was mentioned in chapter 3 between the two detectives before the long-haired detective visits kyo?

Actually we hear of the short haired kid's backstory. And he isn't the same person as the one in ch3. That one is called Kaito Sumeragi, the one before is called Himetsuri.

Obviously, they don't look the same. I checked into chapter 9 and from what I can tell - images :-) - it looks pretty cool. As I said in another thread, unlike psyren the mangaka doesn't rush things and characters are introduced first. Anyway, I hope that the Manga Editors can catch up fast :-)

Haven't read a new battle manga in so long I forgot it can take a while before things get going. But when Kagamigami starts its first major arc I think the teddy bear will have some involvement.

IIRC, there was a translation of this chapter here somewhere and by order :
page 4 is where Hollow rabbit admits defeat with some sobby snot nosed voice
page 7 is when he says that his true plan is gonna be unleashed on the world in due time and he's preparing for the gates of hell.

BnHA's first major arc was chapter 12-21. I think that it's pretty good that he is not starting a major arc yet. I have always been in favour of introducing your characters properly with simple arcs rather than with complex arcs.

This is definitely Kagamigami's first mini-arc. I expect it to last for another 3 chapters. There's also a lot of background history before the fight happens. I think that's a good thing, you don't see it very often (mostly during or after a fight).

In Psyren as well, after the first challenge, there were 6 chapters wich introduced us to 3 new characters and a serious arc ensued in chapters 16-25, so it could be that this is what Iwashiro is planning on doing as well here. As of right now, albeit it doesn't seem like the current for is much of a threat, it's nice to see Kagami's past and the way spirits interact with this wand the fire spirit looks awesome.
