The argument doesn't even work on a writing standpoint.

The argument is that there wouldn't be much of a fight to read if Mirajane just easily beats her opponent with Macro....Well, there isn't much of a fight when Gray just beat Mirajane in a fight that began and concluded entirely offscreen. Mashima clearly doesn't care if he makes characters a "one trick ponies" because he makes Natsu use demolition fist and Erza use her katanas all the time. Doesn't bother him one bit. He also clearly isn't concern with padding Mirajane's fights with panels because....the entire fight with Gray was offscreen.

I really don't understand how you think. If it's part of her character, then why did she use it against those fodders but against actual relevant characters, she chose to fight the conventional way? Even though, there were real stakes at the time, including her friends and siblings' lives? From a writing standpoint, I understand what you're saying, but if you're trying to get inside Mirajane's head to explain this, you're not succeeding.
Because you can not expect Mira to order for a suicide lol.

She rather want to beat the opponent but not them get killed.

And if she will use macro she would rather make them sleep.

But if she chose to sleep a fordimable opponent then there is no hype on it. No thrill.you get what im saying?

Thats why Mashima would rather draw a hand to hand combat from satan soul.

There is no thrill regardless since all of them are off panel. Why not Macro off panel then?

It is different from macro. Because it will be an order only. Unlike Erza sword where erza move from here to here or blocking an attack and just like Natsu.

I don't think it is a distinctive literary trope, but I think it has its a merit in it that this whole group believing it would make everything too easy when the writer needs people to be hyped up by her battles. Not using a technique, assuming it would actually end fights at the beginning of the battle, has precedents from other mangas/comics.

However, the argument completely falls apart when we take Mirajane's personality into account, the fact that most of her battles have her fighting for her friends/siblings' lives (in some instances, to even show off how powerful she is, i.e. against Lucy and presumably even against Gray) and the fact she has chosen to use macro before but is choosing to not use it against characters with a decent power level.

With regards to Gray. The plot needs to move on. If Mira was not beaten. Then Natsu will fight her. Then there is much more story going on in the series. Thats why it was highlighted by Cana that Mira was heavily injured.

I don't understand what you're saying.

The excuse that Mashima doesn't make Mirajane use macro because it would make her a one trick pony doesn't work because there's no indication that Hiro Mashima even cares if he makes his characters a one trick pony. Natsu and Erza use the same tactics in practically all of their fights. Mirajane has become a one trick pony with how often she uses Satan Soul now.

The excuse that Mashima doesn't make Mirajane use macro because he wants the fights to be more interesting doesn't work either. Nothing is less interesting than having offscreen fights. If Hiro Mashima wanted to portray Mirajane as OP as you guys are claiming she is, then he would have her win those offscreen fights. He doesn't.

The fundamental problem we're having is that it seems like you guys genuinely believe that Mirajane would no-diff every opponent she comes across, and the only reason she doesn't is because Hiro Mashima doesn't realize her greatness. And we're saying we don't buy that. Again I ask the question: If Hiro Mashima made Erza and Mirajane fight, would you really bet on "macro oneshots"?

Honestly, I doubt we’ll ever see Macro again and I doubt Mashima would allow it to work on Erza anymore. Macro is sorta dead since I don’t think Hiro will follow the set up for Macro. Only chance of seeing Macro again in my opinion would be if Hiro reveals if Mira can access etherious form.

So everything you said previous is irrelevant.

Well that was anti-climactic

Everything I said was based on the rules set up by Hiro, doesn’t make it irrelevant. Saying it’s unlikely we’ll ever see it again doesn’t affect what I said.

This is how it goes.

Mirajane's own macro feats consist of only one feat, which is controlling fodders. Which also logically means she can't use it on anyone above those fodders. It's that simple. Seilah's macro worked on Erza and Minerva because from a portrayal standpoint (at the time), she was considered stronger, or somewhere in their ballpark in terms of strength. There were also other tiny factors, but I got the main point across. You don't got the feats? Then you can't do shit. No one needs any hax resist feats when the hax they have to resist is nigh-featless in the first place. It's not the other way around, that would be completely backwards and called NLF.

Every hax in the series has worked the same way. You have to be portrayed stronger or at least equal to your opponent for your hax to work on them. Prep hax is different though.

No one in FT has resisted hax with hurr to durr power levels.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Power levels failed how many times in the 100YQ to hax? Power Levels failed how many times to hax in the original manga? When has hax not been restricted in fight unless plot allows them too? This is even brought up by the author himself and he admits that authors do not favor the use of hax over a good ol' beat em up :lmao. Mira not using Macro is just CIS, plain and simple. Y'all trying to make hypotheses as to why a character didn't use their hax like it's that deep. It's not that deep. Not doing hax =/= hax will not work. You guys try to discredit hax way too much when the manga tells us that it bust PLs. Rajinshuu, Mest, Kyouka, Seilah, Larcade, Macbeth, Eric, Sawyer, Ultear, Meredy, Makarov, ect. have all shown that hax has trumped PL.

Power levels never "failed".

You simply can't grasp that people who have used hax were always portrayed as stronger than or roughly equal to their opponents. But yeah, you're right, it's not that deep. It's just Mira not being able to macro anyone beyond her strength. That's literally the end of it.

Get outta here with your constant headcanon. It's the only thing you argue with other than "muh author said this".

Again, NLF. There's rules buddy.

Macro clears. A nearly dead Seilah macro'd Erza and Minerva at the same time without any trouble.

"but their powerlevels were then multiplied by 100 during the timeskip, trust me!"
[citation needed]
We don't have anything to tell how much stronger characters have gotten in a timeskip. The only real comparison we've had was Bluenote, but by this point Natsu had unlocked several more powerups allowing him to clear the gap. In the end it's all arbitrary "trust me bro, Erza multiplied her strength sooo many times that this thing that absolutely worked on her wouldn't work now".

I suspect it's just powerlevel wankery with people scared to see a "stronger" character beaten by a weaker one's hax.

tldr Seilah clears, nothing in the manga indicates the opposite. Maybe Mira doesn't.

Yeah imagine calling it wankery when the only feat Mirajane's macro has is on fodder. Macro working on fodder means it can work on anyone else?

You know what wank would be though? Giving imaginary feats to characters who don't actually have them, then claiming other characters need hax resist feats when said hax is nigh-featless.

Nobody is saying that their power-levels were multiplied by 100, but to imply that people didn't get massively stronger over the timeskip is disingenuous.
Natsu would be solidly outclassed by Bluenote during the Tartaros arc. Now he oneshots him. He's walking all over the Spriggan 12, and those guys have more magic power than anyone before.

What do you mean Macro clears? Macro clears Future Rogue and the 7 Dragons? Auugst? Igneel!!??? Look I feel bad whenever people say that Mirajane is wanked, but you guys are literally making the claims that people are criticizing you for.
