Ah ok, we were actually tidy so it was easy to make the final updates. Here are the lists:

Santa Gifts (Permanent Role Changes):
  • Mason
  • Mason
  • Doctor (Sane if Town)
  • Spy (Sane)
  • Spirit Medium

And yes mafia was pink just cause pink = pretty red

If they give a shit about their game not ending like it did, yeah they can make the bare minimum effort on their part.
It is our responsibility to make sure players vote and post??? A duo needs to be reminded to vote and post? In the early game, sure, but in the late game I don't think I've ever seen someone get penalized for inactivity when they were before, let alone if they are TWO players per unit. So FOUR people didn't post enough over the course of a FULL day but it's the hosts fault?? :scry

Players are certainly at fault but don't pretend like they couldn't have prevented it. They don't have to, but hosts don't have to do many things, like answering people's questions. Not the hosts fault they're confused and can't read the rule threads.
They could have. If they should have is subjective, even more when they were two pairs of players, not just a single isolated case.

Let's not blame the hosts for this outcome, BlackTiger and i are the sole responsible.
I'm pretty sure the hosts didn't even realize the lack of posts on our part, just like i personally didn't even think about posting more in this expeditive day phase. Difference is, this was our job to post, whereas the hosts aren't repsonsible for the players' activity.
I'll take the blame on that entirely.

Noona is a mother, wife and employee who is being counted upon. I have business, university and family to see to. In between these activities, we managed to plan enough time to design and host a game. Then players stop posting, and we didn't give a shit?? After the avi's, comics and balancing, we're responsible for making sure the players play too?? Should we just post for them as well?

I'm not saying it's any single players fault (had town not recreationally sacrificed their traps, the situation could have been avoided entirely), and even if there were misplays, with or without personal circumstance, it can happen and I don't hold it against anyone really

But how tf can you say we didn't give a shit ç__ç

I dont take blame and flame very well for sure, but i'd rather take all your flame rather than seeing the hosts who did a great job this game, take the blame from a mistake entirely on my part

I also think that the initial frustration and shit is comprehensive, but that people should eventually recall this is a game... we decided to spend time on it on our own, it's supposed to be fun, but shit happens and it's on us to move on? No need to drag this forever... If anything, use it as reminders for the future, idk...
So yeah, walk yourself out of it as well, Taku. No point in being kind to others while you continue to take a shit on you...

The amount of people saying "no" to having played poorly shows how bad to the core town truly is :bnah

Tbh, The hosts did awesome job investing their time into making awesome avatars and coming up with new mechanics that made everyone entertained. I have only played few games but this game felt kinda off because of the players were less active than usual and they felt like not playing or following up , They were actually just following the crowd and not doing their searching on their part. Like Hardy wondered, He don't know why he is lynched, It was lazy to lynch him. Him being Mafia was pure luck at this point,

This vandred i rarely saw him typing anything useful to being with, I actually just realized his existence in this game. He is the one of the reasons why the game felt weird.

I don't think the hosts should remind the players of the ending of phases, I just have problem with the consistency of the day/night timing.

I'd say vindred made bad influence in the game, hence black tiger and takun felt like not playing and actually forgot they are in a mafia game.

It was more like an assumption than a question, but meh. And no, I think it's simply cruel to punish people like that, specially 'cause Ik those specific people would/did get borderline depressed with it. Not to mention it means punishing the players as a whole, in spite of all that effort they put into the game. I kinda hope no one ever pulls that intentionally, lol? That's simply toxic...

I set an alarm to wake up 1h before the end of the phase to recollect things and aid Panda, and while checking the threads to prepare to finish the day, my boss engaged with me to prep for a meeting we had after the phase would end (I took a week off to host, had 150 emails in my box, and wasn't even aware I'd have a meeting in my first working hour after my return - cause the invitation was among those emails). Panda spent the game juggling with classes and work hours as well, sometimes we simply can't antecipate if something will happen and keep us from doing everything we could do, so we stick to our actual duties.

Mentioning those things above to say I disagree this best practice (sending warnings) should get promoted to some kind of rule. Players are requested to follow the basic ones, and I wanna believe hosts do their best for their games? Demanding those people to be available to the point they have to commit to extra warnings (and God knows how many) might make it impractical. But that's my view, people are free to debate that.. (if I got your first post correctly, when you mentioned hosts should always give warnings).

About the testing roles, I agree they weren't properly tested yet, and Gry answered they are following the process the other roles did. I didn't recall SM, for example, had gone thru the same.
There's certainly nothing wrong with tagging people every time you notice they're about to get penalties, in my opinion.

Depends on how the host wants to handle infractions - to me, yours is a perfect example of how a player can get busy and lose track of when a day's ending and whether they've posted enough or not (see Asako thinking two posts and a half was enough), which is understandably a rather regular occurrence in our games, been there myself on both sides - and being helpful rather than punitive is a better mindset in general as it helps the game proceed as smoothly as possible. Calling it a "courtesy" rule doesn't mean you're only doing them a favour (which is a nice thing already), you're doing it to everyone involved, players and hosts.

But in my opinion it definitely would be the best practice to tag players when you know they're about to get hostkilled, or end the whole game for everyone like in this case. Adding extra votes to a lynch can already be decisive, but the most game-damaging events are what a host does have a responsibility to try and avoid, because a single afker can ruin the game for everyone else. Especially when all that's required is a simple PM or tag in the thread because it wasn't even a matter of afking but naively believing the game would end. That's all I was saying.

Not sure what the rest of the argument is about anymore. I already stated that there isn't much that could be done if you only had time to close the day and would have tried avoiding this outcome otherwise, that reply about not giving a shit was to Hardy's post implying it's all the players' fault and hosts should not give a shit @Copy Panda

No one said tagging people to remind them of things is wrong (or I missed it), or that we're against it. Also said alrdy multiple times we did it ourselves. But yeah, we couldn't do it in the last phase. We're on the same page overall, I guess... (this topic is about to become a meme...)

I think its time for the council to discuss if Vandred can still be considered as a council member. Influencing the players with such low presence attitude and dismotivation is not how it should be done to begin with. I am more baffled he is a moderator tho. Anyway, I would like to have tomorrow at noon a meeting with @GrySun @Farfalla @Copy Panda @Hardy @Lambu and @Evil3ye about this matter.

There has to be stop for him, we cannot let it go any further. This is influencing the MG rules. Council members like Vandred are not meant to be a council member till he has improved his attitude and approaches to members.
