While we are at the new roles again, thoughts about this one I suggested sometime ago?
I think the mafia could use some new power roles. This one is particulary good for further confusing and misdirecting the town.
This can be modified to interesting directions as well. Make it so that he can use the ability every night, and he essentially becomes a power-upped mafia detective. Or make it a janitor-based role, where he doesn't get to know the role himself, but the role of the player he killed get displayed if the thief dies. (??? is displayed as the killed townies role - like janitor).
It's not weaker 'cause in a second mafia/SK kill you get to know the culprit's name '-'" Not even dets find things out that fast.
And I personally don't like the Barkeeper ;-; too random.
About the Mafia Gambler, it looks like the player has more to lose with his gamble than to earn. If he wins, he just gets an to vouche on a vote. But if he loses, he's heavily implicating his own team.
Yeah, but look how our dets fared so far, they get killed or when they come out they got no confirmation on what their results actually might be like, like with GrySun this game. Got guilty on Xnut and innocent on xi0 and then it came down who of them to kill and we got lucky but that was it. Once dets are gone townies are basically helpless. And once dets, docs and the spy and prostitute are gone, townies are only NIGHT GAME for the mafia killer/s. Which is why the Old Cat Lady would at least be a great role to scare the mafia from reusing the same killer over and over again, like they did this match to prevent using the unskilled mafia member. Once their killer was seen, he gets a warning, which is fair. And the OCL could come out and say "hey, they got a mafia boss" but that would be stupid as OCL could find out the name as well if he/she keeps quiet so the Mafia will look for OCL clues the next days while debating at night whenever or not to use the old killer again.
The biggest scare for Mafia is supposed to be the "neighboorhood" of the OCL. The Mafia can guess the number of peoples the OCL might have this game -1 for which they got a target. And they now have a limited pool of potential killers expect they wanna take the risk and do it again.
The OCL is supposed to be weak early game when there are lots of targets and strong late game if most of her neighborhood survived. What Mafia needs to hope for is that the OCl picked most of them as their neighboorhood but even that could backfire on them as the OCL might get a random info that one of her neighbors is mafia and if her townie neighbors keeps dieing then sooner or later the OCL can guess who that mafia member might be.
As for Gambler, you're right. Maybe the Mafia Gambler should be able to play 3 times per day aka getting possible 3 votes together with his one, but be at risk of after losing that
a) his townie target just got nightimmunity (ah right, should add that you can't gamble twice against the same person!)
b) He lost once if he loses his next gamble he loses his role and becomes unskilled
Yeah, that sounds better a high risk, high reward role than just a once gambler per day with such stakes against you if you loses
Much better, now the Mafia Gambler has a reason as to why to risk giving townies block/kill immunity from the mafia side, as he can get three votes on a single day which is a lot but requires a big 50/50 risk. Win once, he got a vote, loses the next match, townie got immunity, next match might be risky but the lose carries over to the next day as well, added that too. So the Gambler wonders should he risk gambling today again or hope for a better day tomorrow?
Honestly, I really think the Mafia Gambler could be great as it gives the Mafia a vote moving role which townies got the politician for but said vote moving isn't too strong as it might actually strengthen the townies by taking away valuable kill targets for the night phase as well as the risk for the mafia to lose their vote moving role.
Please just let us have a try with this role in a game, maybe as a test to see if it is really too strong, then it can be only once gambling per day. But I don't think it is too strong. To me it feels interesting, risky and could be plenty fun, both for mafia gambler to gamble on votes and townies to prevent having their vote bet against by locking it down or even leaving it open in hopes of getting mafia immunity for the next night phase.

That happens mostly because a) townies tend to have the most inactive members, like now we had two hostkills that would be one more night phase plus that "ups, I revealed Utsune's role, guess you gotta die" accident which was another day phase, less phases less time to find mafia b) Mafia tends to somehow always get early det kills, especially in the past games. Dets needs at least two nights and hope for different results AND they need a way to confirm at least one of their results meaning that their targets have to die one way or another. Or they gotta risk it like you did and we gotta bet on you being sane or insane. Mafia got no such problems, all they have to do is keep low or keep pretending their safe roles and throw mud around and usually it goes their way.
I see it more as a miller/death miller, but on the mafia side. We don't have that kind of role yet. The key point is, that the ID-thief doesn't appear as mafia when dead. Mafia Pirate dies as a Pirate, Det as a Det. ID-Thief would die as an Innocent Child (for example). It's not really about investigating or role steling, but camouflaging and framing.
Poltergeist (secondary role) - After being fully oriented by the host about limits and specific rules, a dead player that has received this secondary role might come back to the game for limited time and annoy the shit out of the living ones, specially for activity purposes, before going back to his rest. '-' Fuck coding on my phone
(Ruthless Mafia) - Once per Night Phase the player has to choose between following his fellow Mafia's decisions, or killing one of his brethren. If he kills a fellow Mafia, that player's kill target will still die, but another random Townie will be killed as well. The Ruthless Mafia is the only one on his team who knows of this role. The other Mafia think they are a normal Mafia Member. As this ability can result in a minimum of three kills in one night, it is a one use only ability and after it has been activated the player returns to being an ordinary Mafia Member.
How about a brown man per game - we will call him "Chaali the brown man" and he oversees the game and can revive 1 person per night good or bad.
It will be an autonomous or passive feature. ^^

There, I finally decided on the Mafia Gambler. I really believe this one will be a good and not OP Mafia role. It got its risks, it got its possible advantages, so I hope it can get three Hosts approvals to get used in the next game.
It has three sentence description, I think description is easy enough to understand and it should work in a game just fine.
Again, who are the people I should write a om to read this role and give it approval?

Where were you during last game's signup James? Would've really wanted your opinion on the role system used there.
That's the best iteration of the gambler I've read from you yet. I don't really like %-roles though since they make it harder for me to predict the paths the game could take, but nevermind that.
How would he use the won vote? Would it be something like the politician, the host PMing and forcing the player to change it? That would make it obvious that a gambler is in the game. Noble and politician need some tweaking so I'm not sure we should base it on how the politician works.
God - The player who recieves this role knows the role of every other player, however, his daytime votes are secretly counted as invalid. During each Night Phase the player can choose to give a player a random role. This role does not count for in game role changes, and they won't know what the random role is.
