He definitely was building an insane army. Thriller Bark was also so early in the story we didn't really face any questions around haki and zombies. With the shadows of living beings would they have been capable of using any haki? Could they consume and use DF powers? I assume they could since inanimate objects could at least use zoans but definitely a gray area. Basically curious what the upper limit of a zombies power would be given a strong shadow and body.

Well, I thought they were Tontatta hybrids but not with what, so half right. But yeah, Tontatta being hybrids with anything is kinda weird. And now we find out about a Tontatta and giant race. How did that happen? It wasn't enought that Big Mom has a half-Tontatta child, she being already close to giants in size.
Guess I just assumed you were talking about Tontatta human hybrids back then. But calling the rarer species out is good enough and worthy of props IMO. I also remember that I guessed Tontatta giant hybrid but turns out they have a different name.

As I suspect the humanoid evolution in the One Piece verse to have been artificially enhanced at one or more points I guess having hybrids artificially created ain‘t too big of a stretch either. That said for creating giant hybrids one is in need of a hell of a huge test tube or rather a test tank.

This is an interesting detail about marco. His regeneration seems infinite against regular attacks but on the other hand haki attacks appear to take more energy and time to recover from. Mechanically it's a fair different from how I thought it worked (I assumed his regeneration was limited by his stamina in all scenarios). This has some big implications regarding how marco has to fight. For him it seems like an attack being imbued with haki is more important than how strong it is. For context, consider kizaru and akainu. We saw marco ignore headshots from kizaru's laser back in the day. And it's not clear whether lasers even can be imbued with haki. On the other hand akainu imbuing his magma punches with haki is a given.
Yeah, thats why Garp punch effect him the most, not even Kizaru or Akainu can toss Marco, but Garp punch sent him away.
