Wano being governed by morality is precisely why the Marine would have an extreme advantage over them. They have rules, the marines don't. The marines would literally blow up an entire island if it needs to be done. Therefore it would be easy to manipulate them into submission just like Kaido did by taking hostages. Add on the recources and shere numbers etc. etc. etc.
Oden wasn't in Wano. Seems you don't know this was the first time one of their biggest military forces had left Wano. The one time their greatest warrior is absent, it just so happens they're attacked.
Kaido would never have been able to infiltrate Wano had Oden not left in the first place, plus, he'd have had the aid of all the great samurai in Wano. Even the WG wouldn't have been able to infiltrate Wano.
Also, it's the New World, think the WG can just throw all their military might and head to Wano leaving their bases vulnerable? Your scope is very myopic and narrow.
Other thing you're clearly oblivious too is Wano didn't get defeated by Kaido, his introduction into Wano didn't start out as a war.
Orochi became Shogun, Kaido allied with him, so it wasn't immediately clear that they needed to fight. When someone becomes a leader in a country, they get a chance to rule and show their identity. It's often until it's too late before the populace realises the leader is evil, and needs to be taken out by force.
You're not looking at the full scope of things, you're just looking at 1 detail. Again, myopic.
Also, lol, no Luffy did not conquer Big Mom's territory. To conquer is to own, to take taxes, to enforce your will. Luffy was chased off of her territory. Wano makes weapons and provides food for Kaido. Ergo, it belongs to him.
Took one of her strongest and most influential subordinates (Jimbei).
Allied with another subordinate, Bege.
Ended her alliance that enables her to be Pirate King by saving and allying with Germa.
Luffy humiliated her and more or less brought shame to an Emperor. Point being if we take on your narrow-minded assessment which doesn't include context, you'd be saying "Luffy ransacked her Kingdom as evidence her empire is weak and is an inconsistency that she's strong" when the reality is it's just a series of terrible circumstances that resulted in the outcome.
Same with Wano, the result is irrelevant, it's the circumstances (context) that matters which you're being wilfully ignorant of. A lot of things happened before Wano became what it was.
Thirdly, I don't blame WB for anything. I blame the inconcistency of his character. He was literally introduced as a man who will hunt you down if you touch one of his own.
Whitebeard didn't know for SEVERAL years meaning it could easily have been knowledge he learnt 5 years after the fact.
Even Izo didn't think it'd be wise to go to Wano.
They thought about going many times, but due to the fact countless lives would be lost, it's not a venture he could have gone on. Whitebeard is no fool. He's not some school-yard boy that doesn't weigh out his actions before taking them.
There's something else you clearly know nothing about.
You have no understanding of Whitebeard's character. He's not rash. He didn't even want to go after Blackbeard after he killed Thatch, the 4th commander. He knew it was bad news and was cautious. Again, he has lots of responsibilities, he can't just throw tantrums like an angry kid like Ace.
So, you're absolutely wrong. Whitebeard cares for his comrades, and he will go after the enemy if it's possible. If it's not, he takes a step back. He's not doing things as blindly as you think he does.
"You think he could just sacrifice all his military to take on an enemy whose territory was unknown to him?" I mean, the guy declared war on the WG... Didn't think much about those millions and billions of people under him then, no? You're just proving my point over and over. WB feeling no concern for the people of Wano, two of his crewmembers' home island is a blatant inconcistency to his character. It just is.
And this is where you're particularly clueless knowledge-wise.
I will remind you:
This story is called One Piece.
One Piece reveals the true history of the world and leads to the demise of the corrupt WG and Celestial Dragons.
There's a prophecy about someone who is destined to do what no other man can, and that's save the world.
The person meant to save the world is a D - you clearly must think it's a coincidence that both Whitebeard and Shanks groomed D. named individuals in order to make them the next Pirate King.
You also must be unaware that Whitebeard has this knowledge, maybe you're clueless Roger told him about One Piece.
Whitebeard going to Marineford was not just out of blind fury, but because he believed Ace was this person who would change the world, therefore, his life was more important than any other life. He could have gone to save Oden, but then, it'd be at the cost of countless lives that changes nothing in the scheme of things.
Kind of like how Zou were willing to sacrifice the life of themselves and their thousand year history to make sure Raizo was safe and to bring about the dawn. They had the bigger goal in site at the expense of immediate consequences that wouldn't outweigh the greater goal.
What Raizo was to Zou at that moment, Ace was to Whitebeard who believed in the dawn, the One Piece being found and the WG being defeated once and for all.
Ace on the other hand was a life that had the potential to change the world. Roger knew that 20 years down the line, someone would appear to overturn the world, very likely he knew this and thus groomed Ace into Pirate King in the belief he'd be the solution to all the problems. However, turns out that person is Luffy which is why Whitebeard ordered Marco to protect Luffy at all costs.
If you don't quite get the point, Whitebeard was thinking about the big picture, the future, and the lives of those he could currently protect.
Ehhh in regards to why the marines haven’t explored wano
Wano is just one country in a hard to reach location
Marines don’t have inexhaustible resources their man forces are constantly needed and recquired and wanted in other places
Good, he deserves it, especially because of his shitty dad being a shitty character. I wouldn't be surprised though if Momonosuke gets his ass handed to him publicly, but he refuses to give up which inspires others to keep fighting and start respecting him.
Because he is, it's not that hard. It's funny because he was decent early on, but then I think Oda made him too Luffy-like and dumb. At least Luffy would just fight instead of listening.

I feel like you guys just misunderstood the character but I respect your opinions.
We've had this Oden debate so much I don't particularly feel like going through it again.

Issa fact tho. Like, he reminds me of how Kishimoto tried to make Hashirama and Minato a lot like Naruto, and made Naruto goofier, during the War Arc. Embarrassing.

tbh same because I don't remember much about Oden in the flashback, just what I was thinking when I read the flashback. Reread it few weeks ago and thought he was decent at the start, and then it got worse after he joined Whitebeard or ROger.
I can't fathom how people really think Oden is dumb. They think Oden returning to fight Orochi and Kaido after he left the Roger Pirates is as simple as just fight and win which would likely have been the result.
They ignore the fact that his actions are dependent on what sort of person he is - Moral or Immoral.
If Oden were Akainu when he returned to Wano, he'd straight up have killed Orochi and Kaido, and wouldn't mind a few thousand, hundred of thousand or million innocent people die in the process. All of this would never have happened, but that's always the problem with being a good, moral human being. What would be the result be?
All the people who lost family members would hate Oden and have no idea they were in hostage situation.
Even when Oden got executed, they still had no idea why Oden didn't fight until Shinobu revealed the truth, and they realised Oden had protected them all these years.
I feel like most people don't quite understand that as a good human being, once lives are at risk, you've lost all power. If someone had their family being held at gun point by a criminal, they'd do whatever the criminal said to ensure they got their loved one back until the criminal proves without a doubt they never intended to return the person back, in which case, one can do whatever is necessary, but the downside nonetheless is you can never know whether or not the criminal is going to stick to their promise, and that was really the case with Wano when Oden was dancing around for 5 years.
Wano was essentially put in a hostage situation and Oden only decided to take action once Kaido and Orochi who "committed" to their agreement stopped which is the only thing a moral human being who cares about lives can do. People don't consider the fact that Oden stopped people from dying for 5 years straight and the hostages actually got returned to their families.
There's a huge difference between being naïve and obeying someone who has hostages. Apparently, that distinction is non-existent. Evil people can resolve situations much easier than Good people, and that's because they don't care about the consequences or implications of their actions.
Funny thing is if Oden had defeated Kaido after 5 years:
He'd have saved all the hostages.
And have killed Kaido meaning everything went perfectly... no one would have died. He'd be the hero.
Things just went south due to bad luck, but apparently, once things go wrong, you're automatically labelled a fool. Even the best plans can fail, luck can fuck lots of things up.
The thing with oden and orochi
Trusting them to just up and leave wano when they had no incentive when he had relinquished any chance
It was vivi level naivety but somewhat more disappointing from a very very experienced and well traveled warrior
Oden then really realized it was time to act when his family came under direct threat
Which you know other families were in the same situation
All I’m saying is what idea did oden have that agreeing to the deal would eventually make orochi and kaido stop , they had no reason to
It was painfully naive and stupid
He has good reasons
But trusting orochi and kaido was ridiculously dumb
Oden's character is all about his taking on the burden of all the people he wanted to protect, even to the point of self destruction and humiliation. He takes blame for what he did not commit, he portrays himself as pathetic, unworthy, and weak, and becomes subject to everyone's criticism, all for the sake of those he holds dear.
He tries to carry everyone, even if he himself is boiling... literally. That's the whole point of the wooden plank panel.
Oden may be silly, excessively naive, and he may have made decisions that are questionable, but what he is notis a bad character. Oden is wonderfully written.
Personally, i think if Oden was so wonderfully written there wouldn't be such a solid divide those that like him and those that don't.
It's not like a small majority dislike him and the vast like him...
I think Oda failed in almost every conceivable way to make Oden likeable and the only reason I even respect him was the boiling scene. Outside of that... I think is character was poorly written
Isn't that dichotomy precisely what defines Oden? He is only likeable if you understand and resonate with what his character stands for; without it, he is meant to be perceived as unlikeable.
