I recently chose to take the dive and start One Piece, and I'm not surprised that i'm really enjoying it after putting it off for almost 5 years. One thing is really bugging me lately though. Is Luffy related in some way to Gold. D. Roger? I mean, the similarity in appearance is so obvious but if anyone can tell me without spoiling too much (I'm only on chapter 130 or so) it'd ease my mind

Well, if you recently started reading *and* are enjoying it, I honestly don't think you should look for spoilers... so... I'm not gonna spoil anything for you, but I'll say that your answer will be somewhat answered if you keep reading .

You are in for an enjoyable ride in One Piece as the story twists and turns in whatever ways the author has fun doing it.

Without spoiling your joy of reading, I'd say that the similarity lies in their middle initial "D." More is yet to come.

Additionally with the ending of Bleach, various mangaka including Oda have written their appreciation note to Kubo.

Oda mentioned, "You did excellent work on Bleach for the past 15 years, Kubo-san! Now go and have yourself a good rest!"

Indeed, Oda is speaking from experience. When One Piece finally finishes, he will need a good rest himself too.

Kaido on a Sky Island led many of us (including myself) to believe that Kaido can fly, therefore, he must have an ability. Kaido isn't necessarily able to fly.

In fact, besides the knock-up stream which allows either all or none to make it to Sky Islands, the other route is far more dangerous because it has multiple obstacles along the way that make it possible to lose 0-100% of the crew (as opposed to Knock-up stream which is 0 or 100%) which makes it absolutely random.

Being that Kaido is suicidal, he'd be far more intelligent taking the route which offers far more obstacles for death, therefore, more chances of being in precarious situations that would potentially lead to his death.

Probably. Very few people take the route the SHs did. I would be surprised as hell if Bellamy did though.

Trafalgar Law has joined the Portrait of Pirates (P.O.P.) line of figures' "Sitting on Chair" (SOC) series. The SOC series celebrates the 12th anniversary of the P.O.P. figure line and focuses specifically on characters sitting in chairs.

Previously, Sanji took the seat in a leather chair in low-rise pants and an open jacket. Law is now following suit by reclining in a red leather chair in a chest-baring suit. The figure is 14cm tall (5.5in).

Just re-read this, and Bellamy said he lost the majority of his crew; that is consistent with the other route as it's stated that the amount of people to survive isn't guaranteed while the knock-up stream is either everyone survives, or none.

One Piece Mugiwara Store Opens in Gateway Ekamai Departmental Store in Bangkok

Thailand character goods company Dream 16 opened the One Piece "Mugiwara Store" in Bangkok, Thailand on last Friday, 9th September. The store represents the second international branch of the store, after the first one opened in Taiwan last year. Dream 16, an affiliate of Dream Express, the licensee for One Piece in Thailand, operates the store in cooperation with Toei.

The store is located on the second floor of the Gateway Ekamai, and has a floor space of about 155 square meters. The store stocks One Piece-related goods such as stationery, themed clothing and figures.

In the last release of Jump on Saturday, 17th Sep, as well as in One Piece chapter, we have many authors (Oda included) paying tribute to the senior mangaka, Osamu Akimoto for his 40 years of contribution to Kochikame. I thought it will be nice to have a look at how the general public in Japan show their gratitude toward their beloved mangaka and the manga.

Kamaeri Station Says Goodbye to Kochikame Manga

Osamu Akimoto's Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo ("Kochikame") manga officially ended on Saturday in Weekly Shonen Jump and the series' 200th compiled volume. The series followed the daily exploits of Ryotsu "Ryo-san" Kankichi, a police officer in Kameari, in Katsushika Ward of Tokyo. The actual Kamaeri Station train station is bidding farewell to the series in a special way: by turning its stairs into manga book spines, displaying manga cover artwork on the ground, and framed panel drawings. A banner is also on display at the station's entrance congratulating Akimoto on a job well done. Visitors can check out the display until the end of September by hopping on the Jōban Line.

Kochikame ran uninterrupted in Weekly Shonen Jump for 40 years since 1976. The manga inspired a 1996-2004 television anime adaptation and two anime compilation films in 1999 and 2003, along with an anime special in 1985 and then various other anime specials that aired between 2005-2008. Additionally, the manga inspired two live-action films in 1977 and 2011, and a live-action drama adaptation in 2009.

The Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo THE FINAL: Ryōtsu Kankichi Sai special aired on Sunday. Shueisha's Jump+ app and website launched a comic on September 12 starring Hello Kitty's alter ego Ichigoman. The comic's sixth chapter will go up on September 17 and feature a character to commemorate the launch of the "Kochikame × Hello Kitty" collaboration goods at Takashimaya Nihombashi Store on September 14. The store is also hosting a Kochikame exhibition that will tour Japan throughout the year.

Akimoto's colleagues and Weekly Shonen Jump staff are also honouring the manga's end. Eleven Weekly Shonen Jump manga will hold collaborations with Kochikame starting in the 44th issue on October 3rd.
