No no, man. I'm not Hannibal Creepy!I take it you're also interested in school I went to, Uni I'm attending, financial status and possibly the sort of neighbourhood I live in and maybe House too, lol.
I am just curious if you have a major in philosophy or some other interesting explanation for the way you analyse stuff This answer is not written in stone (pun intendend). So, why not speculate if there is more?I get what he's saying. Thing is the Manga already gives us the answer. Why does there need to be more to the answer?
Haha, nah no philosophy, but I do dabble a bit and read bits here and there. No no, man. I'm not Hannibal Creepy!I am just curious if you have a major in philosophy or some other interesting explanation for the way you analyse stuff

It kind of is though. This answer is not written in stone (pun intendend). So, why not speculate if there is more?
and yet, Bege didn't come up with using devil fruit, nor did Caesar seem to have it, so question still stands. WHERE?Wasnt Bege planning it for over an year? Didn't Gastinoused to manufacture artificial devil fruits? Besides, if i'm not mistaken some of them aren't so expensive.
Truth be told, i just wanted to see what would happen
I just think it will be nice if there's a little more to it. How the truth alone can threat the Navy? Imagine Luffy finds the truth and it says the Navy is atrocious. What happens, he becomes a rebel and starts a campaign against the WG? What does it change? What leads you to hint One Piece is more than the secret of the World?
Oh Sorry MJJJ, I think you got it wrong (or I wasn't clear enough). I was just saying it could be a good plan. Obviously no one thought of it. If they did, they could get a df, don't you agree? that's what I was saying.and yet, Bege didn't come up with using devil fruit, nor did Caesar seem to have it, so question still stands. WHERE?
Well, finding something nice is subjective. Finding something nice doesn't really determine whether something is true or not. The only thing that does that is facts.I just think it will be nice if there's a little more to it. How the truth alone can threat the Navy? I generally think the over-analysing of a children's manga as though it's a science is pretty tragic and I shed a tear every time I read a thesis on things that are mostly obvious. Maybe I'm getting too old for the forum thing now but I find much more pleasure in sitting back and enjoying the manga for what it is.
There's very little to nothing I agree with the Hannibal guy on but I think he'd benefit a lot from reading manga less seriously. Imagination is a wonderful thing and it's not always about right or wrong, just differences in opinion.

I know you get the devil power with just one bite, but does it work with a slice?
What are you on about this time? That manga is a science? Yeah you definitely need some fresh air. For someone that's meant to be in uni, you have way too much free time to be arguing about a children's manga like it's a science. Spend your time better. Surely you have finals soon? Like I said, it's pretty tragic to me to spend every woken day reading and writing about a children's manga. I mean to each his own but my heart goes out to you son.Well, finding something nice is subjective. Finding something nice doesn't really determine whether something is true or not. Well, yes, that is exactly what Whitebeard said.

Except you're suggesting we shouldn't believe what the Manga says.

There's a scene where Bellemere, she'd been on a diet of oranges since they were too poor to afford food and her skin became orange. There's scientific background to this; it's a condition called Carotenemia caused by eating an excess of foods with Beta-carotene which oranges have in spades.

Then there's the bends that Montblanc Cricket suffered with from deep-sea diving too much, another scientifically proven phenomenon or occurrence
Ignorance is not a good thing buddy; Ignorance is tragic especially when in the 1st world where one has access to resources to educate one's self.
So much for "over-analysing" when Oda is the one adding these depth and dimensions which you claim cannot be included into a Manga for kids... sure buddy, Believe that.
I really think you'd benefit from being more objective, not a case of reading Manga seriously. It's truly a waste to spend so much time reading a 900 chapter series and completely failing to understand it except you're just a casual who glances and looks at the pictures.
Nope, lol. What are you on about this time? That manga is a science? Yeah you definitely need some fresh air. Oh and I almost missed the casual comment. I genuinely laughed out loud at this because I wouldn't wana be anything more for something that does pay me. You should try it too actually. You'll probably find that your day's more productive. But don't mind me, just some advice for the kids.

Nope Mr. Man with the years of life experience and advice for the kiddies. What are you on about this time? That manga is a science?
Oh but my major was in mechanical engineering. Science was my field although I now teach maths. There are also biblical references in the manga as well as historical and cultural references. That's what Oda does. He takes a lot of his inspiration from pop culture, even going so far as to design some of his characters after celebrities. Sometimes you immediately catch the references and other times you might need to google but it's part of the fun. The real tragedy is when people begin analyzing every word ever written in the manga like it came out of god's mouth. So yeah, what I'm not learned in is the art of wasting time on manga. Actually there were several months where all I read were the spoilers. Manga should be a pass time, maybe even a hobby, but to make it your daily bread is pretty tragic son.Nope, lol.
I'm just pointing out that the Manga has depth and therefore requires reading properly.
Perhaps, you're just not learned or educated enough in science.
Maybe you didn't do much Biology or Physics because while Oda didn't elaborate on:
They're scientifically accurate and something that one would need to read into to grasp which you clearly don't.
- Bellemere's skin turning orange for eating oranges.
- Or Montblanc's Bends.
Don't worry about my time, the fact that I can analyse critically is from being educated. I got a job well secured, so worry not my boy.
You claim to be old and go on about spending time properly, yet you're reading One Piece. Maybe you should take your own advice, lol.

Nope Mr. Man with the years of life experience and advice for the kiddies.
Something being required to be read properly doesn't make it a science; not sure where you learned this from. More or less claiming that reading something properly implies it's a science? Hah! Philosophers would giggle at such insight; by such a notion, English or Language is a science, lol.
Anything not read properly wouldn't be understood. This is fundamental when learning anything whether in school or university or a business. At least that's what being educated teaches and so does life.
Ok, it's not new information that Oda takes inspiration from different things. Everyone knows that.Oh but my major was in mechanical engineering. Science was my field although I now teach maths. Perhaps I should have said over-analyze. Anyway something I once heard Ben Shapiro say was that if you can't assume good intentions on the side of your opposition then there's no point in talking at all. Basically in order to have a healthy discussion, both sides must at least be willing to understand the other's perspective. But you see I don't think you ever really wonna have a discussion of ideas and possibilities. It's just one way or the highway for you and I think that really limits imagination.Ok, it's not new information that Oda takes inspiration from different things. Everyone knows that.
Look up the word analyse.

Point of analysing anything is to understand something. Has nothing to do with god, not sure what that sass is all about, but nevertheless...
What you're essentially saying is because it's a Manga, it shouldn't be understood?
- Then why read it in the first place if not understand it? Lol?
Actually, what you're not learned in is the art of enquiry. Maybe you've never conducted research before, lol.The real tragedy is when people begin analyzing every word ever written in the manga like it came out of god's mouth. Research is fine although whenever a see annotations of manga pages and texts, it kinda begs the question that where does this person get all the time. To each his own though, but for someone supposedly in university you should have better things to do. I actually think it's your obsession with the manga that inhibits you from understanding what people say. Take the obsession away and you might understand people's perspectives a lot better.Actually, what you're not learned in is the art of enquiry. Maybe you've never conducted research before, lol.
How is trying to understand anything a tragedy?
Maybe the real issue here is you lack much cognitive engagement and have poor work ethic regarding understanding things. If that's the case, then the educational system has failed to do its job perhaps. My condolences.
I don't really need to have good intentions of you nor do you need to have that of me for a healthy debate. All that's required is that:Perhaps I should have said over-analyze. In a discussion about manga, a key component is also imagination especially in One Piece. Oda is known to take sharp lefts in the story every now and again and things don't always pan out the way we think they will. It's a work of fiction and keeping an open mind allows you to be more imaginative.I don't really need to have good intentions of you nor do you need to have that of me for a healthy debate. All that's required is that:
- We remain Objective.
- Back up points solely with evidence.
- Honest and Reasonable.
- Willing to concede points made that aren't consistent with the evidence.
- Willing to change opinions on in light of actual evidence.
So, this isn't really a case of me analysing anything, it's a case of me being adamant about my stance. If so:
Do I say you're limiting imagination and it's only 1 way or the highway with you?
- If I said 1+1=3
- And you said and prove 1+1=2
- And I say maybe it can be 11.
You're being somewhat inconsistent here.Research is fine although whenever a see annotations of manga pages and texts, it kinda begs the question that where does this person get all the time. To each his own though, but for someone supposedly in university you should have better things to do. I actually think it's your obsession with the manga that inhibits you from understanding what people say. Take the obsession away and you might understand people's perspectives a lot better.

Ok, assuming imagination is a key concept, we can test that out.In a discussion about manga, a key component is also imagination especially in One Piece. Oda is known to take sharp lefts in the story every now and again and things don't always pan out the way we think they will. Over analyzing to be specific. Like they say, the closer you get to something, the harder it is to see. Analyzing isn't inherently bad but it can be done to a fault at which point it begins to seem like nit picking. And in fiction if you have to nitpick to prove a general point then the point might not be as cut and dry as it seems. I'm not frustrated with you but I've read enough of your posts to see you're really tunnel visioned when discussing things. Differences of opinions are fine. I mean I think the Ancient Kingdom is One Piece, somebody else thinks it's treasure, you think it's the 9 poneglyphs and that's all fine. I make jokes and call people's opinions bad every once in a while but it's all fun and games. Manga is really not that serious. You're being somewhat inconsistent here.
For someone who is supposedly an adult and experienced in life, wouldn't you say you're being presumptuous and somewhat ignorant in the sense you don't know whom you're speaking to on a personal level to comment on lifestyle? There are many people online, what really gives you the right to comment on their activity if you don't know them personally?
- First you say analysis in a sin.
- Then it isn't a sin.
- Then you get personal about my posting and educational circumstances as if you know me personally or have details regarding how far I am in my syllabus to criticise what I choose to do on my own time.
- Then claim my analysis (obsession) is wrong.
- What if you were speaking to someone who was disabled for example?
And how exactly does obsession stop someone from understanding people's perspective?
It looks more like you're just looking for reason to valid your frustration with me because of how I make my points, lol.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Ok, assuming imagination is a key concept, we can test that out.
If I were to ask you how you knew whether Shanks was a DF user in Chapter 1.
- How would you go about proving that to me with Imagination then?
Fair, but when you say the closer to something you get to, the harder is to see. That is applicable in instances where one isn't looking at the big picture and not so much in the sense of analysing.Over analyzing to be specific. Like they say, the closer you get to something, the harder it is to see. Analyzing isn't inherently bad but it can be done to a fault at which point it begins to seem like nit picking.
