It has been a good run to be honest with you but if you think about it. Even though, oda is making a killing. He still is losing money from us reading mangas for free online. I hate to be that guy. But it is true.

Nevertheless, all good things come to an end. It sucks because this chapter looks to be epic and mangastream was my source for high quality scans.

The fact is that copyright is slowly killing any good side of fandoms in every single game/story/series, and this is happening everywhere.

As for now:
It's not ok to make a parody out of copyrighted material. (DBZA is riddled by copyright strikes);

It's not ok to make a video reaction to an episode: you can't show even a glimpse of it, even if it's only to give sone context to people that clearly have already seen the whole episode before opening the reaction video;

It's not ok to post parts of an episode;

It's not ok to create fanfictions, it's only slightly tolerated;

And soon, it won't be OK to post parts of a manga/comic/book, published or "unpublished" (spolers).

The point is that we're not really stealing from authors, we're just out of viable options and really passionate.

Edited Mangas and fansubs are really what keeps "manga and anime" alive outside Japan, because official translations and dubbings usually takes forever and gives us a cranky and censored product: the only good side is that you can watch an episode airing on TV usually by "paying the fee" tanks to the ads.

A wise choice would be letting us enjoy our weekly meal by adding ads to it, and letting us do our thing to keep alive the fandom, without trying to systematically kill any joy in being a fan
(There are ways to render adblocks totally worthless, trust me.)

I would be more than happy to pay Oda by watching ads "to be able to read the manga and watch the anime", but if I have to directly pay to be able to enjoy One Piece, I won't do it, and probably this goes for most of us.
And it's not even about money, but it's about having to pay a separate fee for every darn thing you show interest into: THAT would make most of us broke.
Seriously guys, think about it.

For this industry to be sustainable, teh artists need to get paid. They are getting close to nothing outside Japan.

And Viz has already made the chapters free weekly, what else do you really need? IBesides, the free legal copy has the best translation too, so you are getting the best content for free.

Yeah, but the thing is, Viz chapters have a very bad quality. I think everyone knows that online piracy is bad, but yet everyone uses it.

My personal justification is that I own everything related to the One Piece Manga available in Germany and even a bit more. I can't spend much more money on it than I already have.

But I would actually be willing to pay for a decent digital reading service, even though I would solely use it for One Piece (and HxH every x years).

The thing is that them splitting the doublepages ruins the artwork. You can't sell a comic if you ruin its artwork. The service is garbage as long as it remains like this.

One also shouldn't underestimate that the pirated scans and dubs were (are!) probably the best and only advertisement Manga and Anime has had in the West. Early 2000s were a golden age but afterwards it declined greatly for some reason. I got into One Piece since it was running on RTL II straight after elementary school. But nowadays, if at all, it runs on some fringe time on some niche channel. Younger people won't pick it up... Unless they discover it on the internet.

Without the fans doing the work, Manga/Anime would likely be dead already.

And look how big that work was. Netflix is craving for new anime. But never forget the first people to provide anime streaming were Pirates!

Actually I don't know if the paid version is better than the free one, does someone know? Also it is available for Euro, because I don't have any USD?

I do prefer digital reading as you can zoom in and the paper quality of the volumes is kinda low so you easily damage them by stretching them too much (because you want to see the doublepages).

They should just listen to the fans. Only good quality can protect you from piracy to some degree.

I think most fans care about it being free, which it is. The content is the original. The format is different, but its intended to simulate the same reading experience as a manga. I would argue its better than the scans available so they are doing everything.

For some it's not about pirates sites being early it's about the presentation of the chapter on the pirate sites, it's way WAY way better reading there than from VIZ which for some reason loads very slow and you tend to zoom in and out a lot while reading, I seriously cant read from VIZ until they improve their presentation.

I think he was waiting to return Enma and Ame no Habakiri to Momo and Hiyori. Off the top of my head.

Not necessarily. King also has wings but for example we know he's from a species thought to be exctinct. Magellan, Hannyabal, Saldeath and at least a few more characters have wings, Oda has never confirmed/denied whether they were from another race. A few of Big Mom's kids have wings too iirc.

I kinda have a feeling King has something to do with Xebec.... Rocks flag has a burning skull so unless Xebec was the old mera mera no mi user, maybe he was from the same clan?
We have a D who's a giant, so there's no reason to believe D's are biilogically just from the same human group.

The only thing is that Magellan, Hannyabal and Saldeath have very similar wings..little black one like bat..

As for Big mom's kids, we know that she procreate with any species to have a family composed from all races so...make senses that somes of her child have wings like Hitetsu or Skypiea people..

But here Hitetsu have very large wings as you noticed...

For me he is clearly a descendant of some Skypiea/Shandia/Birkan people and they were connected to the Ancient Kingdom meaning they have probably some tie with wano...

Which is why I started it all by saying "not necessarily". It's plausible but none of the characters I've mentioned have been confirmed to be or even vaugely referenced their origins.

You could make a good case about it either way, there just wouldn't be any substantial evidence beyond "we've seen character XX with wings that has been confirmed to be from sky islands" as the opposite can also be stated.

Either way, if Hitetsu is from a Sky Island, it might not be him directly but one of his ancestors (possibly Kotetsu or even before) that came from there and settled in Wano many generations before.

The same could be said of other winged creatures. Hence Oda/databooks could use the loophole of "born in the grandline".

So... do you guys think the remaining strawhats are getting upgrades in this arc? At this point it seems pretty damn probable IMO. Wasn't sure if I should start a thread about it. Here is what I was thinking:

Luffy and zoro are the more obvious powerups. They are presumably getting haki boosts, the question is how far it will take them.

Sanji got his raid suit. To me the question remains on whether sanji will get a haki boost. Haki is the core of combat in this series and sanji severely lacks in this department. The raid suit is probably an important boost but as far as I can tell you can't actually be competitive in top tiers without at least COA hardening and the basic forms of observation. Sanji has observation haki down, at least the basics, but he severely lacks in terms of armor haki.

Franky: He hasn't had much of role in the new world but it seems like a pretty safe bet that his current power is insufficient for the enemies the strawhats are up against. Sanji made the point he was going to have franky modify the raid suit... Which in turn is also an opportunity for franky to get some important upgrades himself. Of the top of my head I am thinking he might go for a more compact design and include thrusters through his body. And he might even make a more portable giant robot. Perhaps even a robot that is even more integrated with himself. Haki doesn't seem too probable for franky at this point though.

Brook: Brook is a mystery to me in regards to where else he could go. His chill of the underworld is largely underdeveloped so perhaps there is more to do on that front. Brook also desperately needs haki given that he is a swordsman. Brook is a weird character in that he doesn't seem to have any readily available options when it comes to future powerups besides suddenly learning COA.

Robin: I have no idea of where else she could go power wise. It kinda looks like the only path forward for her is haki at this point.

Nami: Nami seems like someone who could also benefit from sanji sharing germa tech. Her weapons probably would have important upgrade opportunities. Add to that the sexy possibility of her wearing something designed by franky and influenced by sanji....

Ussop: Ussop has some options as well. Ussop is a haki user and perhaps enough time has gone by to make him barely competent enough at it to make a difference. His slingshot could also benefit from germa tech. Him working with franky is an interesting prospect as ussop is fairly handy himself.

Chopper: He can always do with more forms I suppose. Given his fighting style haki should be a must for him. Maybe he still has rumble balls and can use them for a meaningful powerup.

I agree and hope that Sanji gets a haki upgrade.

I think Brook is going to learn haki and have his sword upgraded.

Robin is probably going to focus on clones and, hopefully, haki. Thinking about it now, if she can do giant clones, she might face off against San Juan Wolf.

I don't care about Franky.

Nami could use Germa tech as armor, I agree. It's also implied her Clima Tact has an unknown utility that Usopp couldn't figure out. Zeus may be the key for her to use that.

Usopp needs to develop his haki, but for the most part, he should still have a bunch of Pop Seeds we haven't seen yet. He could also benefit from Germa tech.

Chopper is probably going to show a new form or two and should learn more about Awakening with all these zoans running around.
