and man I think ace gets treated too harsh for his deathh

The guy's surrogate family risk it all to save him.
They lose some along the way but ultimately accomplishes the mission of freeing him.
He has one final heart-to-heart with his father before he dies so that all his sons can escape.
and then-

Ace decides to throws all of their efforts away to fight akainu- All of his crewmates are screaming at him to run during this mind you.

To make it worse. His little brother, who's completely out of his depth, is surrounded by killers on all sides. They even almost got him if it weren't for ace's last second human shield dive.

---

would've been a better move storywise to have Ace live while being hunted by all of his comrade's deaths. then perhaps go on to face down blackbeard at the end of the story.

I agree! Ace stayed true to his character to the end. His death also made me like OP a lot more with actual tension.

Roger and Whitebeard never ran from fights. Ace learned from them, so if he ran then he definitely is a coward.

This is what Luffy doesn't have. He runs away like a coward when facing stronger opponents (SA arc).

It's not really the case anymore. Katakuri was definitely stronger than him, Kaidou too. And in both cases, he did not ran away.

Even pre TS, Magellan, Crocodile, Aokiji... There is a lot of instances where he did not ran as he was facing opponents who were above him.

Maybe now. But Ace was always different even from a young age. In the ASL backstory, Luffy and Sabo was ready to run away but Ace didn't. I don't seem to remember well, but I think his decision did put Luffy and Sabo in danger.

And yes you are right, Luffy was ready to fight Fujitora instead of running. However, Luffy did run away from BM, so there are both sides to the story.
If you want to say "Luffy did achieve what he came to do", remember that Pedro had to sacrifice himself. So Luffy was clearly running for his life.

If he doesn’t take on Blackbeard , Blackbeard hunts and kills luffy , so really ace had to do it

It also seemed luffy body began to pack up again and he couldn’t run , he saved luffy

Also he died saving luffy he didn’t die in the middle of the fight he pushed luffy out the way

Luffy didn’t run away when he felt he had to fight and had no choice but to face them crocodile (alabasta and vivi danger) , Magellan (if he can’t beat he can’t save ace) , aokiji (did it to save his crew and Robin) , ace going up against akainu was kinda prideful but it was just one clash
He also had to stop and stall katakuri or the rest of his crew with him would have been finito
With kaido the first time he thought had annihilated his crew and second fight if he doesn’t beat him wano is gone

luffy would like during sabody if there’s nothing to lose and then against big mum

he kinda fought Fuji cause he had been training to face them and wanted to see where he was really

But what I mean is ace died saving luffy. I think he might have been able to escape and survive

Yes, it was more the "He's always running away like a coward" which made me tic tbh. I thought "Wait, really ? Luffy and coward are not really two words I would associate"

What the duck I just discovered this
Oda drew an alternate ending where ace survives marineford war and all I feel is pain

Wow, now that would be a great series itself... Ace and Luffy competing to be the King of Pirates and all eventually coming together to take down the WG.....

I wish we get a novel of that..
but i guess the case we have is better...

Good god that is cringe

wonder if what happened with bege will ever get followed through
When WCI was on, i concluded that island was Shiki's base and he contracted Bege to assassinate Big Mom... but we got none of it...

Now on the fire abilities in One Piece, friction explains a lot of it, like the main-man of the forums pointed out...

If friction alone is enough, who else do you think will be able to generate fire??

To me, the first thought is Daz Bones... his ability allows metal/blades all over his body, he should be able to clash those and create sparks, and go on stronger and create fire....
who else?

What happened to Bege is of no importance.

It's just to show that the Supernovas went through random weird shit in the New World.

The most obvious answers would be any heat-based DF users (Oven, Akainu), explosion-based DF users (Mr. 5, Galdino), and DF users who can infuse fire with something (Big Mom).

Pica, if he can make his body to be fire stones.
Crocodile (indirectly), by drying everything and making them easier to catch fire.
Kuma (if Franky can shoot fire from his mouth, why not Kuma?)

If there's a Sala Sala no Mi based on the mythical salamander, the user will be able to use fire too.

Though I guess it's a bit ironic that Smoker and Galdino can't generate fire by themselves.

So in your opinion, it's in the best interest of the OP universe that Big Mom destroys / defeats Luffy, and takes over the world? Luffy surviving Mirror World, and defeating Katakuri didn't benefit the world in any way? Only Katakuri himself? Because Katakuri's "decision" (according to you) is literally going to save the world from the persecution of the Tenryuubito, WG, and prevent Big Mom and Kaido from turning it into a desolate wasteland.
Last thing I'm going to post on the topic. As usual we will have to agree to disagree.
No, the topic was Katakuri's a better leader than Perospero. Fact is he's not shown anything that proves that.

Has nothing to do with the OP universe. It's leadership, ability to delegate roles and command a group. Only MontD'or and Perospero to some extent showed leadership qualities.

No one was talking about moral choices.

Riiiiight. That's why a group of less than 10 people blew up their castle, stole their greatest treasures, fucked up their wedding, defeated two of their commanders, thwarted their plans to steal Germa Tech
Laughable argument.

It's called plot-armour buddy.

As if the SHs don't literally go into any arc unprepared and just dismantle things like nothing.

RA couldn't do shit to break into Joker's underground schemes and expose him for decades; the WG couldn't either; SHs in 1 day do what 2 of the smartest organisations and agencies couldn't do for years.

According to you, every crew and organisation in One Piece are incompetent because the SHs managed to fuck them over. That's just a terrible understanding of the situations.

It's not a lack of competence, it's plot armour, you should know this by now.

Impel Down, not incompetence, plot armour.

Marineford, incompetence? No, plot armour.

Absolute nonsense to claim the SH's success is not plot armour as if they planned and took advantage of all the little bits of flaws in defences. No, shit got handed to them on a plate, so your argument is laughable.

It's like the concept of Shonen is lost on you. Luffy's success has nothing to do with intelligence, planning, or any of the like, it's straight up luck.

Kaido's crew, dismantled into oblivion. They look incompetent, but it's not that they are. They've subjugated the country for 2 decades, the reason they're failing? Luffy and plot armour, imagine not grasping this, lol.

There are some point
1. The plot
2. The context
3. The pattern
4. The detail
We must know/understand when we read book or see movie..

In some ways i agree with you..

As I said earlier I’m done with the argument about BMP competence. I will never agree with you on this topic and don’t have time to go back and forth forever. You do you.

Saying things like “the concept of Shonen is lost on you” only makes you look like an uninformed asshole. For one, Shonen isn’t a concept. It’s literally a comic for children. Why don’t you go read Yotsuba and explain how your “concept of Shonen” applies to a manga that’s literally a slice of life about a little girl growing up in rural Japan, or how the Elric brothers’ successes had anything to do with luck. You don’t get to prescribe what “Shonen” is based on your reading of a single manga. Believe it or not, not every or even most manga in Shonen jump feature anything like what you describe, and I grew up reading hard copies of different comics in the book stores, most of them shonen.

It’s like you don’t realize that Death Note, Slam Dunk, Haikyuu, FMA, or Jojo are Shonen manga.

I could say the same about you.

Your argument was 10 men went into WCI and literally tore it down. It's Shonen, that's the kind of thing that happens in Shonen. An informed reader would know this and not question it like it's some unbelievable feat.

It’s like you don’t realize that Death Note, Slam Dunk, Haikyuu, FMA, or Jojo are Shonen manga.
Even within Shonen, there are subclasses. It's like you're trying to compare rap with classical, you can't. One Piece is a typical battle Shonen, can't really compare that with slice of life Shonens, so that's an abysmal comparison.

Your argument is still bad because it's based on ignorance and character preference ultimately.

You essentially can't tell what rap is or rock is, when you can't understand what sort of Shonen One Piece is where 10 men can match into an entire country with a whole military, and still leave essentially unscathed whilst making a mockery of the empire.

Shonen aside, your analysis of incompetence is wrong whether you disagree or not.

Big Mom knew Brulee in the seducing forest had a 100% success rate in stopping enemies. Yet, she still took the extra step to send a commander to deal with Luffy. That's incompetence? She made informed choices based on the information she had.
  • How is it incompetence when she doesn't know Luffy met with Lola, and Lola gave them a Vivre Card which Nami would use to counter Cracker's biscuits, feed them to Luffy until Cracker was too tired and ultimately lose? How was she supposed to gather information to predict this outcome?
  • This is not incompetence, this is the devil's luck. The fact you call this incompetence is a laugh because it seems you have this idea a measure can be taken for every and anything as if Big Mom is omniscient and omnipresent, and just decided to do nothing, lol.
How exactly do you counter things that you can't even account for and take into consideration? I'm guessing you can in order for you to call the BMP incompetent.

Even with the confidence of her advisors, she still questioned the possibility of failure. That's incompetence? That's progressive thinking, that's competence.

Luffy's success is literally all plot-armour. Not intelligence, not research, just plot-armour.
