There's no reinterpretation, just each of us interpreting as we see it, just like you're doing.
It's honestly still all too ambiguous to really know for sure what's needed. We do know that the pirates who want to be the King have to be strong enough to deal with whoever comes after them, but we also know that they can get to Raftel and become the King without fighting at all, though that's debatable when they get to Raftel or right before Raftel. I expect guardians or some shit to be there.
But there's still the chance of sneaking in, getting the poneglyph or its rubbing, and making it out alive. Other than that, I think we're on the same page, other than Luffy making it look easy. I think Luffy's accomplishments are difficult, but it feels like easy because he doesn't go down, he'll continue to fight until he's sure he's not needed anymore. Being a rubber fruit user and a YOLO person probably helps Luffy a lot.![]()
You're right, it simply requires going to Raftel. We also saw Usopp mention this.
Though you have to consider the fact that anything can be simplified to seem easy.
- Want to be a doctor? Just read a book boom, you're a doctor.
- Want to win the Formula 1 Grand Prix? Just get from point A to B faster than the other guy, boom, you're the winner.
- You want to rob the bank? Just crack the safe, get the money, walk out, easy.
While these are all true, there's obstacles that make simple tasks difficult. Luffy is not the only one trying to find the One Piece, he has competition from Emperors, Supernova and many other Pirates.
Even stealing a Poneglyph is not easy, we saw what Luffy and co. had to do just to steal Big Mom's Poneglyph. They had to fight to get it. Granted, by the time Brook stole a copy, he was held in Big Mom's arms and they had to sneak into her room and save Brook.
We can look at it from that perspective and said... they could just have escaped at that point and they actually wou;ldn't have needed to confront Big Mom if Sanji just agreed to come with them.
Thing is even then, for Brook to steal that copy, he had to fight. They had to have a stupid amount of luck, they needed allies, they need Brulee hostage, they needed Big Mom's vivre card, they also needed someone who knew the layout of Big Mom's kingdom in and out. Usually, this would be literally impossible, but the SHs get away with it because of luck.
Meaning realistically, one can't even steal a poneglyph copy, you would realistically have to fight because sneaking in is close to impossible.
So, we have the fact:
This means fighting the Emperors is inevitable for 99.9% of people generally meaning war is the only way to acquire Poneglyphs.
- One can't sneak into an Emperor's territory and steal a Poneglyph.
Other obstacle is as we saw... Pirates want to prove their strength. Usopp is asking Luffy what manliness has to do with anything? Luffy's got pride, he has some sense of ego, and fighting fulfils that.
Pirates generally want to prove their strength to be Pirate King, in reality, it's not as simple as just stealing all 4 Poneglyphs and finding Raftel. It's a lot more difficult than that.
What Luffy has done to reach this point seems simple because of luck, Bare in mind, literally everything Luffy has done, people tried to do for years and failed:
So just imagine... yes, finding One Piece is just going to Raftel. For 800 years, no one accomplished it besides Roger. Luffy's about to do the same. Being pirate King is close to impossible unless you're not just powerful, but incredibly lucky which Luffy has on his side.
- Crocodile's Baroque work was active for years.. it took Luffy a mere few days to end that.
- Enel was in power for years, Luffy took him down in a day? or 2? Something an entire nation couldn't do.
- Luffy broke into Enies Lobby and did the impossible and also survived Buster-call.
- Broke into Impel Down and escaped, something only done by a rival of Roger 20 years ago.
- Dressrosa, we know almost 20 years ago, Sengoku tried to stop Doflamingo and even the RA tried to stop his operations... what took the RA and Navy almost 20 years... Luffy in a day does what they couldn't.
Simply put, anything Luffy accomplishes is comically made to look a 101 times easier than it is in reality, and realistically a goal that should be accomplished over decades of planning, not just turning up and taking action without a plan like Luffy does 10/10 times.
To be Pirate King without fighting is pretty much close to impossible given that the odds are so so low.
bruh after luffy beats blackbeard, he'll literally be the strongest pirate. and if theres any marines that could be stronger than him like akainu, theyre gonna be in his way to become pirate king so he'll have to beat them too. so who left? there's no two ways about it. he'll be the strongest just like roger (and WB) was. end of story. you guys gotta stop tryner reinterpret things we've always known
If Big Mom lost to either Whitebeard or Roger, it would be enough for any of them to be recognized as stronger than her. Also, while I am 99% confident that Roger did not fight Big Mom when he was trying to get to the Poneglyph, I'm also 99% confident he did clash with her at least once before and likely won. The context based on what we know seems to imply that Roger tried to avoid getting into a fight with her because he wanted to get to Raftel before he died of his illness, as he had little time left.
There's no way Big Mom would let Roger get away with being called the strongest if he didn't beat her, IMO.
Could have, but that's up in the air as well. Did either of htem fight Big Mom? Whitebeard? Kaidou? Who fought Xebec? Did they gang upon Xebec? Did Sengoku go up against the underlings while Roger and Garp took on Whitebeard and Xebec or just Xebec? If Big Mom lost to either Whitebeard or Roger, it would be enough for any of them to be recognized as stronger than her.
That said, I think Roger did show his superiority to Big Mom when he fought with Garp against Rocks.
99% is very bold. Also, while I am 99% confident that Roger did not fight Big Mom when he was trying to get to the Poneglyph, I'm also 99% confident he did clash with her at least once before and likely won. That would be an interesting twist...I think Edward Weevil's soul purpose in this manga is to set up for Blackbeard to order Moriah to steal his shadow and put it into Whitebeard's corpse.

I like your Dragon is not Garps son but more like son in law idea. He could have changed his name from Xebec to Monkey for that very reason same as Ace did with Portagas vs Gol.I think Rocks is Shank's father, and Dragon is Rocks younger brother. That would make Liffy and Shanks first cousins. I always thought that Garp took Ace in because he knew that he and Roger were related because of the D. It's not that at all, Rogers knew Garp would do it because he did it before.
I have this strange feeling that Rocks was not entirely a bad guy and during the God Valley incident, he opened Garp and Rogers eyes to the truth of the world. It is too obvious that Rogers took care of a baby Shanks and Buggy. Garp has never referred to Dragon as his son, so I think Garp's daughter fell in love with Dragon and is somehow related to why Dragon is so pissed with the world government.
The Ds are too important to the story for there not to be more known Ds I'm the story I thought. I think Shanks and Kidd both will be revealed to be Ds In the coming chapters.
I also have a theory on Shanks being able to see the future or at least snippets of possible outcomes based on events taking place. I have feeling that he cut Kidds arm off, know that it would play a part in him taking down Big Mom.

Lastly, I think Shiki will pop up to save Big Mom from being killed, but I think Kaido will die a glorious death defending Luffy because he will realize he is the real Joyboy. Kaido will finally get his wish of dying like Oden and Whitebeard?
I think Kaido's backstop will be tragic because I don't think he started as a bad guy and probably was like his daughter.
I've always wondered how the hell Doffy knows so much important shit about the WG when his family left Marijoa when he was a little kid. There's a missing chunk of history with Doffy and the celestial dragons with him coming back, before or during the time he decided to conquer Dressrosa.Quick thought:
How did doflamingo know about the Ope Ope no mi being able to make some immortal? Probably means that it's been done before right?
Doffy knows a lot of secrets about the WG. So maybe the immortality operation was performed on Im-sama?
I think Edward Weevil's soul purpose in this manga is to set up for Blackbeard to order Moriah to steal his shadow and put it into Whitebeard's corpse.
I always figured that once he got involved in brokering and the underworld, he became aware of secrets or came into the possession of things that would be valuable to the Celestial Dragons; things that most brokers would dismiss, but he wouldn't because having had been a Celestial Dragon himself, he would know of their importance. Basically leveraging knowledge/goods for favours/power. I'm leaning more towards goods or other material things rather than secrets, simply because of who the WG are.I've always wondered how the hell Doffy knows so much important shit about the WG when his family left Marijoa when he was a little kid. Is that guy playing Weevil in the live-action series?![]()
Now I want/need a Cindry-esque soul (re)possession of WB.
There's no shortage of Croc/Doffy comparisons out there, but as a fan that was only moderately interested in either... I'm legit high-excited to learn about both of these characters in a post-Wano world. Last we saw of Croc he was looking mighty comfy, reading the papers about Luffy's exploits, and similarly Doffy was last seen getting some newspaper deets but sweating about being assassinated.I always figured that once he got involved in brokering and the underworld, he became aware of secrets or came into the possession of things that would be valuable to the Celestial Dragons; things that most brokers would dismiss, but he wouldn't because having had been a Celestial Dragon himself, he would know of their importance. Doflamingo is ripe for the picking where he is, I wouldn't be surprised if the next time we have any update of his character, he has been assassinated by Cipher Pol agents or worse, taken to Imu's big strawhat freezer. There's no shortage of Croc/Doffy comparisons out there, but as a fan that was only moderately interested in either... Doubt it. Oda barely kills his characters.Doflamingo is ripe for the picking where he is, I wouldn't be surprised if the next time we have any update of his character, he has been assassinated by Cipher Pol agents or worse, taken to Imu's big strawhat freezer.

Crocodile and Daz Bones are quite endangered as they are among the only powerful fruit users in the New World that have no kind of occupation that could prevent them from being hunted down by Blackbeard. As for Crocodile, I really want him to show up again, with more than just a panel. I'm curious as to how far into the NW he's gotten and details of his new crew.
