Setting aside how awful the DBZ auras are in OP anime, the main problem with it and just anime in general is the lack of fluidity in animation. There's so many cuts every moment that it shouldn't even count as animation, it's just a bunch of frames which pretend to be animated via noise. Most of anime just tries to trick people into thinking animation is going on when in reality it's just quick cuts and noise. With most OP anime fights you can't even tell where characters are physically standing even though oda actually goes through a lot of trouble to keep character location consistent and precise through fights. Since it's generally important to the plot.
Outside the auras the thing that annoys me is the second a fight initiates the battlefield size approaches infinity. Like you're telling me someone who can move fast enough to block beams of light is running across the dome of Onigashima for half an episode? The auras are just a hill they want to die on, IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if some stubborn animator thought it'd be cool, and doesn't want to admit they're wrong. Never met anyone who likes them.

Yeah, this was specially painful during the crime the anime committed when zoro and killer fought. Though I will note that the OP manga isn't exactly consistent when it comes to character's movement speed. Part 1 strawhats were already superhuman and several of them at least could move at blinding speeds. part 2 strawhats got immense physical boosts compared to that. Gear 4 luffy pretty much threw doflamingo around the island, which was fairly big, and luffy was able to run/float after him to keep pummeling. During punk hazard the strawhats still relied on pinkbeard to move around. Rather than have zoro move at 100 meters per second between targets or whatever. Sanji can straight up fly and he wasn't omnipresent at onigashima battlefields. Brook is supposedly the fastest strawhat... character speed is one of the things we need the most suspension of disbelief off at this point.

The only good thing is the art and architecture, and the going merry doesn't look as awesome as the original one. Despite the complaints and stuff, I think I will watch it once it comes out.

So after seeing Chapter 1087 not show Kuzan being any closer to leaving Blackbeard Pirates and Shot’s abilities, here are my match-ups for the 11 vs. 11:
Luffy vs. Teach (captains)
Zoro vs. Shiryu (swordsmen and parallels Absalom)
Nami vs. Devon (Devon dislikes beautiful women)
Usopp vs. Augur (snipers)
Sanji vs. Pizarro (former North Blue royalty and parallels Pica)
Chopper vs. Q (doctors)
Robin vs. Wolf (gigantification)
Franky vs. Burgess (boxer/wrestler types and metallic heads)

Skypiea was the one and only arc that I binge through (discounting super short arc). I started reading One Piece since 1999-2000. One Piece had like 10-11 volumes at the time. What my country did was selling One volume per week. So early arcs, I was reading at that pace. Passed Whiskey Peak, the rest of the Arabasta saga, I was reading 2 to 3 chapters per month. That is how American shonen jump published them in 2003. Around 2006, I was delighted to discover online scans. And since I caught up reading weekly toward the end of Water 7. Mock Town/Skypiea was the saga that I was able to binge and it was an amazing exp. Absolutely loved Mock Town. The wonder, the mystery. Especially when they found the second half of Cricket's house. And then Skypiea, that battle royale and everyone dropping like flies.
That was awesome. Enel set up to be overwhelmingly powerful. Like how the heck anyone could beat him, and then that twist.
The nice thing about binging is this. Your exp is not tainted. Your expectations are not shape or spoiled by the community theories. Your viewing exp is not gaslighted by the community opinions. You could like or dislike an arc or event, opposite of how the larger fandom felt. This is specially true with Skypiea. It was an absolute blast for me. But had it go through the weekly review process for me. All the weekly complaints probably made me want to quit the series.
And then that race to knock down the beanstalk. And the ringing of the bell.
The thing about reading is you are the one who controlling the pacing. You can read fast. You can read slow. You can slow down at the emotional exp, you can speed through the exposition. But you control the pacing.
Not really spoiler. Just want to condense my post. I never really care about the debate on the 3 acts vs 5 acts of Wano. But really for the 5 acts camp, there are 5 distinct parts there if they want. Act 1 and 2 are clear. Act 3 where the heroes failed. We had that part. It was when Orochi foiled their plan. And Samurais cried out in desperation, and including the Oden's flashback. That act ended with the pirate captain trio and Jimbei to the rescue. The 4th act is Onigashima. And the fifth act is post Onigashima which is the conclusion for the 5 acts structure.

On unrelated note, I remember how I really dislike the countdown in Dressrosa. But now, I think i know where the reference from. Because the announcer was the one that doing it. It reminded me of Dragon Ball and other wrestling thing where they do the count down. Though, maybe i am just bullshitting.

One Piece sales is always tricky to measure. You can't really look at the overall sale in a year since some year release more volumes than others. You can't really graph every volume. Since some volumes release earlier in the annual period than other meaning they had longer time to accumulate sales. So what I did is taking the highest selling volume of One Piece each year. And this is what I got. In modern era, outside of Yaiba. No other series had beat the number that One Piece did in its prime. 2011-2015 era, highest selling volume reached above 3 millions. Riding the wave of the high that was Marineford. And as you can see, it has been decreasing steadily (Japanese sale only). Losing almost 1 mil compare to its peak. But even then currently, the only one that had comparable sale to One Piece and or beating it slightly is Jujutsu Kaisen, though Spy x Family had crazy increase in per volume sale as well.
I want to post this now, because I want to revisit this next year to see if the Netflix tv show will create any wave in Japan and around the world in term of sale. France is an interesting one because not only One Piece had record sale over there. But the volume that did really well last year was Volume 1. Meaning in France, they actively have new readers. Also due to the fact that their government gave young adults money to buy cultural products.
