True! I was hoping that was obvious, but maybe not, so fair point.
Oh I was like 99% sure *you* knew already, but I see the term invulnerable conflated with whatever's going on with the Gorosei more often than I wish. The only exception so far being Warcury- the other Gorosei are more vulnerable than Big Mom or Kaidou.

Personally, I don't expect Tama or Carrot to join-- not because of an arbitrary Possible Nakama Limit, but because Oda didn't give them enough depth to feel like they have main character potential. Tama he gave a little but not nearly enough; Carrot he gave almost nothing. (Honestly, Lilith feels closer to carrying that potential than either of them with all the Vegapunk stuff we've seen, and it still feels like a stretch for her to become a crewmember.) If I turn out to be wrong and any of them do join, I expect Oda will have made a point of fleshing them out further by then, by centering them in an upcoming arc.
I'm swinging for the fences: the new and final nakama is going to be the kid in Elbaf Shanks was making fun of like he treated Luffy in the beginning.

Whatever Oda writes is what's going to happen, whether we all start bargaining with each other or not, lol. Speaking for myself at least, I'm always looking at possibilities based on what we know at a given point in time.

Yamato def has more going for her than Tama and Carrot, personally, though I'm still willing to be open-minded with them. That said, even I admit Yamato could have had more depth to her character established early on.

I imagine Oda went though all these scenarios in his head where he introduced Yamato earlier in Wano and gave more background details and emotional scenarios. But I suppose he must have treated it like Nami and Robin. Oda didn’t detail Nami’s family and feelings at Orange Town or Robin’s family and feelings at Alabasta. This along with prob figuring that Momo was the central figure of the Wano arc is prob what led him to make the choices he did, meaning more of that substance may most likely be shown with Yamato later.

It’s not exactly the most appealing way he could have handled it, but judging again by Oda putting Yamato in a scenario where she’s confronted with being Kaido’s child and not being recognized as Oden by the Kaido-hating kids, I imagine the best substance for the character is yet to come.

I've been doing some thinking. What are all the privileges of being a Celestial Dragon? Judging from what we've seen thus far it suggest a life of ease, .....money, location/home, authority etc...........but why would York care to be CD?

Given her purpose and role, she already had it great on Egghead. She is to eat, sleep, and poop/pee......and she seemed to have that in spades already with any type of food she wanted at her beck and call AND being able to sleep as much as she wants.

She represents "greed".....and it's hard to fathom that she would betray the other vegapunks just for a "title" and essentially be forced to work(since she intended to be the only vegapunk remaining) by the elders.

Imo, her "greed" may desire something that the CD's have access to that isn't about a pampered life.

That's the thing with Greed, it's usually boundless and enough will never be enough most of the time. York may have everything she wants on Egghead, but why stop there when you can have any and everything you want in the entire world? Remember, as we've seen in this arc, Vegapunk was given a lot of leeway in what he could do, but in the end, he was still set to be punished for some of his actions. As a CD, York wouldn't have to worry about any of that.

The CDs have Absolute Freedom in the world. The way things are structured, they are figuratively (and literally) above everything and beyond reproach by the WG, the Marines, and, most importantly, the common individual.

This. Even if one has plenty of everything, there is always the possibility of having even more of everything. Greed is boundless.

Also being Tenryobito is the securest and safest position in the world. York probably knew that even if everything was good now, there was always the risk of funding being cut or WG finding out all the dubious stuff Stella did. So she chose to be pro-active. Might even be that she was aware of the ancient weapons and the rising sea, realizing Mariegeoise was to most safe place to be.

Kid and his crew getting wiped out animated was pretty nice. Liked that they added what was going through Kid's mind as he lost consciousness. This probably is an even worse psychological scar then when Kaido did it. He was finally feeling himself and got humbled real quick 😂

But the beauty in all of this is that York's reality check is coming, she's done all of this for a few moments of "freedom".

I kind of wish they cut the scene of Shanks initially using FS and they let it play out as if Kidd really attacked the fleet. Then revealed that Shanks saw the future.

They did make a few changes with that scene being on of them. The manga didn't show Shank's eye but I think the panels from the FS were shaded to indicate it was not real but get what you mean. Strangely enough I noticed in YT reactions a lot of people didn't know it was FS despite the animators trying to make it clearer. The change I didn't like was how Hakoku Sovereignty was made to be more of a vertical slash vs the thrusting shockwave.

Question is though if Oda will bring him back like with Oden after getting slashed by Roger’s attack.

Yeah, I remember that and the anime did go for the same thing with the muted colors during Kid's onslaught. It would've been a neat little surprise for the anime to pretend that Kid went through with it, only for us to learn that Shanks was seeing the future. That being said, given what you said about YT reactors not being aware of it being FS, maybe the route the animators went was for the best.

As brief as it was, I did not like that either. I get why they went that route (Kid's ship did get bisected), but making it a flying slash looked off. It really should've been a shockwave that blew past Kid's ship, then we see it become bisected.

Yes, Yamato has a chance as I see it, but he needs to have Wano established as a homeland. The cover story is a start, but if hypothetically there were a time skip in the main story, it might be better.

I also noticed most reactors didn't realize it was future sight until afterward and one even didn't realize it until editing their video.

Someone did a brief comparison video of 23 years ago's Hakoku and now:

The Little Garden version was more of a vertical slash whereas Elbaf's version looks diagonal, but it might not actually be since they're doing a close-up. The impression I get is that they're trying to make it look like a more dynamic view of the same thing they did the first time.

Well in Oden's case he didn't lose consciousness and was back to fighting right away. In Kid's case the whole crew went into the water and him being an unconscious DF user and some other members of his crew being unconscious from CoC would indicate some people should drown. However, this is One Piece so I expect they all survived but are stuck in Elbaf now. We are likely to see them when Luffy & co arrive there, maybe as prisoners.

Yeah I think for manga first people like us a more mysterious version that didn't make it seem like FS would have looked cooler when it suddenly is made clear that none of it happened. But I guess the anime focuses more on anime only viewers which I'm guessing are a much larger portion of viewers.

As brief as it was, I did not like that either. I get why they went that route (Kid's ship did get bisected), but making it a flying slash looked off. It really should've been a shockwave that blew past Kid's ship, then we see it become bisected.
Yep felt the same way. The bisection was expected but even in the manga there is a circular curve to the bisection vs a straight line which made it seem more destructive, especially knowing the crew were mostly in the middle section. But I guess its easier to animate a straight line than do the manga version.

I was surprised by that too. Another thing that people didn't get that I thought the animators could have done a slightly better job was Killer. I saw lots of people asking why did he go down. But I guess that stuck to the manga since we all were like what happened to Killer too until the panel explained he was just too close to Kid and got caught in the attack.

That's an interesting point. The motion they made in Little Garden was vertical but if you notice the attack became two slashing vortexes that merged and are basically like a cylindrical vortex that make a giant hole in the target. The new version had they made the horizontal motion, which matches more of the original manga material but the attack itself looked more like a vertical slice.

At the end of the day this is me being nit picky. I still enjoyed it and it got the point across. This is no where as big a complaint for me as the aCoC display in Wano.

Yeah, also considering how Sanji and Franky left, Yamato if she had left in Chapter 1057 wouldn’t have really teared up over leaving Wano, because she only really had bad memories associated with it due to Kaido. I imagine Oda would want Yamato to miss Wano despite some bad memories because it would make Yamato more fitting as a Wano representative with the Straw Hats similar to how Oden was with the Roger Pirates.

So I suppose Yamato will be staying in Wano long enough to have some sentiment and nostalgia for it which may be a few weeks, a few months, etc. I can also def see her character progressing quite a bit in that time.

Still find it weird Oda had Luffy spend all that time with Kid as frenemies only to sacrifice him to show off Shanks making an attack.

I think Kid will continue to be a frenemy. I doubt he's dead and will be an important ally of Luffy's going into the final war. If anything his loss to Shanks is probably going to be another catalyst for future growth.

Just about everyone will be making a major move during the Elbaf arc it seems. Egghead has set-up a lot.

Kid was still a brutal pirate who likes to torture innocent people, so it's no surprise he ended up like that...

Which makes it more surprising in all the time Oda spent featuring Kid, he didn't bother having him go through growth at all,

unless his character is done and won't be going through any more growth of course.

It's not unlike Oda to give evil characters development, however they always get what they deserve
