To be honest, this Vivre card revelation actually makes me mad with Oda.

Franky could have been explored more as a character in both Egghead and Wano. Wasted the opportunity twice. This is worse knowing that Oda is perfectly capable of developing a character in a short amount of panels (As shown already with Mr Pink). So you are telling me there is absolutely nothing to be said about an abandoning father and his re-encounter with his son? Couldn't the themes of parenthood and the parallels between Queen and Kaido with Franky and Yamayo be told? And then raise a new layer between Tom and Oden as mentor figures, and even deepening the relationship between Yamato and Franky! And not even mention talking about chosen families! And how that could be tied up with Sanji and his trust in Zoro and Robin versus his biological family!

To add salt to the injure, I was already kind of sus because Oda wrote Zoro as unempathetic with the death of Vegapunk (Even if it was not in the end, he didn't know that) or the fact that Gear 5 seems to totally suppress other emotions rather than laughter (As seen with Vegapunk as well and the post-depression Luffy had) which makes me wonder how repressing feelings could actually be freedom.

I'm annoyed.
They said "seemingly" so there's still chance that it might not be true and I hope he isn't. Cuz if so reminds me of how we found out about Zoro's lineage.

Evidently Oda was more interested in establishing the relationship between Momo and Yamato, like the Franky Family and Franky.

Also, how could Queen have been a pirate at sea with his own ship if he was working as a scientist in the lab in MADS?

Damn, I knew there was some stuff Oda left on the cutting room floor in regards to Wano, but this is a lot.

Suicidal Justice is interesting. It doesn't give us that much insight into his character, but it does seem to go with his "All In" introduction.

👏 You 👏 can 👏 do 👏 both 👏
Well if Momo is meant to be the one who encourages Yamato to go to sea, like how the Franky Family, as well as Iceburg, did for Franky, then it makes sense.

I can only assume that the mysterious walls built around Wano are somehow related to how the Red Line was created.

The rise in the sea levels is a mystery, and it's not simply caused by the water missing from the Lulusia hole, the math doesn't work

On average, the ocean goes 4,000 meters deep. So in order to increase the sea level by 1 meter, you would need a volume equal to 1 / 4,000 to the water in the ocean, or 0.025%

The ocean covers an area of 361,000,000 km² of Earth. Being very generous, let's assume the Lulusia hole has an area of 100 km². So the Lulusia hole would equal 1 / 3,610,000 of the water in the ocean, or 0.000028%

If you displaced the water from the hole in Lulusia, it would increase the sea level by only 1 milimeter. It would require the weapon to be make 1,000 holes to increase the sea level by 1 meter

But more important, Lulusia was an island, it was land not water. If anything, a hole should have lowered the water levels

Besides the water levels only increased after 6 days, so it's not just a matter of displacing the water. The effect of the Ancient Weapons is more complex, and the hole in Lulusia may be just a side-effect
I think both Wano and Mary Geoise were once part of the original grand line.

plus, if the One Piece was used during the void century, I’m guessing it was responsible for the way the world is now being mostly ocean. 🤔

Watched the latest One Piece episode. Imu's voice is distorted and demonic, also Imu appears to be able to stretch like Luffy but in their own way. Like that tail stabbing Cobra reminded me of snake man specifically.

Looks like Oda didn’t end up killing off Kuma completely to save Bonney at Egghead as I previously suspected, and instead gave that role to Atlas.

Well now I have to admit, I was wrong, and I apologize for being wrong on that.

Latest anime episode really did a great job of depicting Imu as end of series villain material. Imu is scary as fuck. Sabo’s attack that essentially one shot Burgess didn’t even tickle Imu.

Some people say that Imu's voice was done like that to hide the VA. I really don't think that's the reason. After all, Luffy's voice is a female voice. I honestly think it's like that because they are a demon.

Anyway, Oda not killing Kuma kinda deflects all the sacrifices He has made. That was another poor decision on his part. I don't want to be the party pooper of One Piece, but I dislike this kind of moment in which the emotional parts are just for the moment. I get it, it's a shounen. But Oda already proved Hes capable of elevating a story...which is not like this. Or am I missing something here? Maybe it's just me being pissed off still about Franky and Queen.

Well, the OP subreddit is officially on fire. Some guy (obzeen) basically usurped the whole sub and kirosh (a pretty beloved mod that was holding shit together more or less on his own for years) suddenly left. Now obzeen's handing out permabans like candy- I got one for simply telling someone what happened- and removing basically any comment he doesn't particularly like.

Reason #843 to dump reddit. Wonder what alternatives there are.

it's a fucking bummer because as one of the huge fandom subreddits, it was pretty well-maintained in no small part because of kirosh. i don't mind having another excuse to leave reddit, but damn, not like this

In other news, I'm glad I still have my oldest home on the internet with mangahelpers. I can't believe I've been here for so long (and more as a lurker)

I'm guessing this has been brought up before, but Roger and Shanks have different "divine departure" attacks.

Roger's slash comes from his right side and Shank's slash is across his body from his left side.

Aren't they just powerful slashes imbued with CoC haki? Basically thinking the technique is the same regardless of how the slash is performed in a particular fight. Same way I'd view a standard named air slash attack even if the swordsmen did it in slightly different way.

Yeah, the principle of the technique is the same, even if the movements are different

In a more extreme example, Sanji can do all sorts of kicks with Diable Jambe, what matters is that his foot is on fire

I don't think anyone has mentioned it before but I had known they came from different directions since Shanks uses his left arm while Roger uses his right arm.

That's another good example of this type of mechanic. Honestly we haven't even had much rationale given for why some sword techniques have different names when they are essentially the same thing by the same person too. Like Zoro has so many variations of the same exact move. Wish Oda went into a little bit more detail about this so we can get more dynamic sword fights.
