It should be fine. The Gorosei would still be up for grabs for the two of them, while the remaining Strawhats and a couple Revos can have the remaining 6 other Holy Knights.
That’s true, but the Gorosei weren’t really more impressive than the God Knights have been. Both groups are strong, but they seem to be around the same power level, and they are both heavily reliant on their ability to regenerate, so it would kind of be the same problem.

I am expecting Zoro and Sanji to each fight a Gorosei in the inevitable battle though. Dragon should get one just to live up to all of his hype, Blackbeard should get Figarland as justice for Rocks and everyone else on God Valley, and Loki gets the last one.

Recruitment and conscription should be bigger subjects of prediction right now. The WG's failure with Loki should be shown as a success elsewhere, shouldn't it? Likewise the Marines will also have to shore up numbers, I wonder if they'll start mass conscripting civilians as friction forms between them and the WG.
The WG no longer has the power to conscript civilians. They are being dismantled.

They just tried to conscript Elbaf and we are seeing how well that turned out for them. The giant army they were trying to get is now dedicated to fighting them.

The Marines are being hunted by civilians due to Cross Guild, and are occupied with trying to stop the blockade around the Holy Land.

The RA and Strawhats have been turning countries against the WG the entire series.

Vegapunk just told the world that the WG is planning to destroy it.

Marines like Smoker, Fujitora, and the SWORD members are probably going to side against the WG in order to actually protect people.

The WG is done for and we are watching its death. There is no one left to recruit. The only one who might side with them is Blackbeard, but as hilariously dumb and incompetent the leadership of the WG is, I’ve got to believe that even they wouldn’t fall for that a second time.

I can't deny that the Gorosei weren't super impressive during their first forray into the series, but I imagine they are supposed to be on another level, likely with the highest form of Covenent alongside their Conq. I'm hoping their regen is more of a footnote when the actual fighting happens.

I'm assume Zoro vs Nusjuro and Sanji vs Mars. Shanks may or may not fight his father (or Shamrock, who I can see taking up another Gorosei's position potentially).

Hmm, I am not sure of how the gorosei weren't impressive. Nusjuro ran around the island and singlehandedly prevented the pacifista program from turning into a failure. Warcury was a wall against dory, brogy and luffy. Mars swiftly made his way to the motherflame and secured it.

That said, seeing how imu boosted sommers and killingham with omen I think the gorosei could have a stronger and more permanent variation of that. That also grants them demon transformations and perhaps even the apparently strange conqueror haki they wield.

The only Gorosei that didn't impress was Saturn, and he looked like the science type from the start. Not to mention he was extremely old looking, even compared to the other Gorosei. Mars always was shown standing and lacks a cane for support, he looked "spry" and showed it. Even had a kind of contemptuousness about him when the others arrived. Warcury was a freaking wall / tank and displayed combat power above Luffy and the Giant captains. I would put him about equal to what we've seen of Loki, in fact.

Jury's still out on the worm. He was more impressive on the reread I did of Egghead than when first reading weekly. I suspect he wasn't quite as unimpressive as might be recalled, though indeed he got cut quickly in the beginning. Whether or not that proves he's pathetic as the Gods Knight's have thus far been, I don't know yet. Hopefully not.

I think we are meant to assume the One Piece is the Answer to EVERYBODY's problems and they will all be after it, Gorosei + God's Knights doing it for themselves, the RA + Sword Marines doing it for themselves. Potentially Sakazuki too. And all the pirates. Lunarians probably should show up, unless they truly are NOT the Shandians of the final plot and that's the RA. In which case I guess maybe Laugh Tale is guarded by them... which would make sense to me.

It doesn't help that he was fighting the main characters and thus had to do ridiculous things like dramatically hold Bonney in the air for 20 minutes, and not use his Head Exploding Power on anyone that wasn't capable of tanking it like Sanji. Then his venom that looked on par with Magellan's poison did... nothing much, really. Honestly, justice for Saturn, poor bastard had no chance against plot armor

I still love his stupid frisbee jutsu he used, leaning into Luffy's absurd Nika powers to slingshot himself back to the battle. For a brief second it felt like Old Piece again and I was seeing the counterpart to Gum Gum Fishnet

Saturn did more than any other gorosei though. His gyuki ability seemed dangerous as well. Though he lost a fair bit of aura after he ate kumas punch.

The worm is just a weird ability. The guy can't even throw a punch. It has good mobility and tentatively something like a black hole but even as absurd as that sounds it's not a form that really benefits from haki apparently.

i know haki isn't always visible to the reader but have we EVER seen a God's Knight or Gorosei visibly use haki? ive had a thought for a while that their personal haki is supplanted/replaced/repressed with Imu's maki as part of his mind control thing

Personally, for me it’s that they weren’t impressive enough. They are obviously strong, but Dorry and Broggy could beat them if they couldn’t regenerate.

I was expecting a bit more from the rulers of the world.

All 5 of them were on Egghead, backed up by an Admiral, a bunch of Vice Admirals, and the head of CP0, but they still failed.

It’s true that they likely would have won if it wasn’t for the secret Joy Boy stored Haki surprise, but they also would have definitely lost if they couldn’t regenerate.

Taking out the Pacifista was cool, but that’s like a Yonko Commander/Warlord tier feat at this point.

Dorry and Brogy are specifically problematic for powerscaling themselves. At once, they have to be "early story level", but they were introduced casually demolishing an island-eating sea king several times larger than the Lord of the Coast Luffy punked out. Dorry/Brogy is an Ace situation where they basically have to be retconned to be WAY stronger than their initial appearances because of how power creep works.

Hell, you can apply that to the giant race in general. Somehow they're always getting Worf'd despite the reader being *told* how strong they are, almost as if their entire place in the story is just to job to the villains to establish how strong the villain is. Hajrudin is basically The Worf Effect incarnate at this point lol

Harald retained his haki while imu supplanted his personality. I'm almost 100% sure we saw armament haki from nusjuro. Add to that the skill to slash pacifista, freeze them and not cut them. When it comes to the gorosei I think the awakening like gas scarf is actually imu's maki.

Harald famously was killed before he was fully taken over. And even if that wasn't the case: was it explicit in the text or visual language that he was using haki?

I vaguely remember that about V. Nusjuro too but that could just be because Oda frequently shows sword-users doing it. But I need to know if there was even a single panel making it explicit.

He didn't freeze them with haki, he froze them with either his sword skill or devil power. Haki is vague af but it doesn't freeze things

Dorry and brogy are strong but as far as I can tell not THAT strong. It's true they failed but the marines hard a complicated situation from the get go. They had vice admirals but these weren't the elite force selected for marineford (though there are a few vice admirals that we know are powerful that weren't at marineford of course). The fleet at egghead consisted of every ship they could grab on the fly. This improved force had to fight 50 pacifista and were ganked by the giant pirates. The strawhats have at least 3 fighters that are comfortably above lucci (luffy, zoro and probably sanji). Multiple others are capable of going toe to toe or beat vice admirals (franky, robin, brook). The seraphins were a wildcard throughout. Bonney pulled a nika future out of her ass. Nusjuro was clashed with zoro's king of hell attacks, that's straight up a yonko level feat which zoro can't sustain.

Shanks and scopper talked about harald being difficult to deal with because he was immortal and coated with cladding. I think it's fair to say he was fully taken over by that point and the continuous beating from multiple insanely powerful fighters caused the hold to momentality weaken.

Nah, he froze them apparently with the chill of the underworld like brook has. Zoro learned the ability to cut and not cut things back at alabasta. We learned how wano views haki during the beast pirate arc. We saw nusjuro used armament and clashed with zoro's own cladding. Add to that how nusjuro cutting egghead seems like a feat closer to what mihawk did at marineford than what zoro did against pika.

Oh, that sounds interesting. Yeah, we didn't seen them using haki. Even when they were like roaring and trying to intimidate everyone. Usually when powerful people try to show off they use haki, like every single conqueror or even people with great mastery of observation or atrament haki such like Katakuri, Vergo and even Shanks himself. But Gorosei and Holy Knights dosen't seem to use haki. Mayby their haki was completly replaced with Imus maki. I don't know why he would feel need to do that beside control but mayby haki and maki "dosen't get along" for some reason.

Are we sure it wasn't just early and rather simple use of maki? On Nusjuro side, I mean. And about Harald, mayby he still had his haki because he wasn't fully "transformed" into Holy Knight. Also weren't Pacifistas frozen because Gorosei have authority over them?

I mean, I don't know much more than you do. To me it's not intuitive that maki would be something that replaces haki and looks and feels exactly like haki but isn't. Even from a writing point of view... what does this accomplish? haki is the core of combat in the story. It's developed in most cases through a combination of blood, sweat, near death experiences and purposeful training. The very strongest gain enough awareness of it that they get vastly enhanced abilities compared to the normal version like internal damage or foresight. What's the point of imu selecting the best and most skilled warriors from his ranks to raise ot knights if the core of their combat skills gets immediately replaced? You'd think the point here would be for imu to enhance already powerful individuals. As in, maki/omen stacks.

Now, my wild guess regarding maki is that it's simply what fuels imu's demon powers, or just is his demon powers, and he is able to grant it to his subordinates. And this demon energy is what grants immortality to his knights and demon transformations to the gorosei.

I get the impression I lot of people take issue with god knights having any actual amount of skill.

I just fundamentally disagree with that. He was actively struggling against control up until Loki killed him. I don't think the manga could've been more clear about that

Chapter 1110 you see nusjuro using his hardened sword against pacifista. 1117 is the clash with zoro.

I mean, I am not saying harald didn't resist at all. But even before his consciousness was fully taken over his body was killing guards left and right. Soon enough he was going on about the wonders of immortality. His resistance just didn't amount to much.

We definitely see a black blade but there is no imbuing SFX. I just figured Shodai Kitetsu was a black blade.

Harald's resistance resulted in Loki being able to eat the fruit and kill him, I'd say his resistance amounted to a LOT more than what Imu needed.

In 1111 though, Jinbe does comment on "that thing's preposterous haki" in relation to Mars exploding into the barrier, so we'll see eventually if that was actually Imu's haki and not necessarily the Gorosei's

I had this issue with regeneration ability to where it seems without it that all of the Gorosei and God's Knights would be easy to beat. But someone else in another thread put it another way, the immortality once it was introduced is a chekov's gun - it has to be displayed. So when we see Dory & Brogy easily cut Jupiter's head off, or Luffy gattling Saturn to small pieces, or even Usopp blow up top half of Gunko's body this is not happening because they are weak or the attacker is strong, it's happening because of (1) as a display of immortality power existing and (2) dramatic effect that allows Oda to show macabre scenes like beheadings without it actually counting.

Otherwise these characters would walk away from most of these same attacks with just scuff marks and shading but no major injury if they didn't have immortality because that's just how OP fights are displayed. So don't interpret all these characters constantly receiving what seems like fatal damage as weakness. Think of them as just logia users that require even more haki to actually hurt.

Hmm, ok when I think about this it REALLY sounds silly to think of maki as "haki but EVIL". You know, same thing but EEEEEVIL. So, I get your point.

And this is exactly what I also thought maki can do. Like, feeding Imus powers and if he have enough he can share his accumulated maki with his subordinates to give them boost or some demonic powers like in case of Gorosei. But I still have feeling that there's some kind of "clash" between haki and maki. Like they can't "coexist" at all at once in someones body.

I think at first when Harald was still himself and was actually horrified by the situation it was like he was hit with Doflamingos ability. You know, like when Doflamingo forced King Riku and his soldiers to go on rampage through Dressrosa. But what Harald went through was actually worse because he was slowly replaced by the worst version of himself. He only started to successfully fighting back after he knew Loki ate Nidhoggr fruit and can free him from his mistery and save Elbaf from takeover this way. I agree that Haralds resistance didn't do THAT much but at very least it helped Loki kill him.

The force in starwars has a light and dark side so I guess depending on how much more time OP story has Oda can introduce something like personality/intent to haki.
