Somehow they're always getting Worf'd despite the reader being *told* how strong they are, almost as if their entire place in the story is just to job to the villains to establish how strong the villain is. Hajrudin is basically The Worf Effect incarnate at this point lol
Yeah, Giants get Worf Effected hard whenever they show up. The only legitimately strong giants weve seen are Loki and Harald. The rest of them just kind of exist to come in and wipe out fodder before being used as punching bags by actually strong fighters.

To me it's not intuitive that maki would be something that replaces haki and looks and feels exactly like haki but isn't.
Yeah, I fall on this side of things regarding Omen. Imu has already shown he has Haki and everyone who senses him are identifying his haki. It's nothing they've ever felt, sure, but it's still haki.

I think Omen is what Imu says it is. His military might. Or, in other words, just pure power. Along with that, the most obvious difference between the two is the fact that is can be manifested into physical objects/things/effects. I also don't think there is anything at odds with Omen and Haki. Given Imu's little speech, the two go hand in hand. Ambition can basically lead one to easily fall prey to the promise of power, which can lead them to choosing to submit to Imu to achieve their goals, which then leads to them being given that immense power to achieve said goals.

Alternatively, reading the chapter again...are we sure we are attributing Imu's comment about "a power that lurks in all things" to the correct comment? He may have been responding to Loki's comment about his ability to turn giant and saying that gigantification is a power that lurks within all things. It's not like gigantification hasn't been a topic that's came up a couple times or something that a few have been trying to achieve before.

I had this issue with regeneration ability to where it seems without it that all of the Gorosei and God's Knights would be easy to beat. But someone else in another thread put it another way, the immortality once it was introduced is a chekov's gun - it has to be displayed. So when we see Dory & Brogy easily cut Jupiter's head off, or Luffy gattling Saturn to small pieces, or even Usopp blow up top half of Gunko's body this is not happening because they are weak or the attacker is strong, it's happening because of (1) as a display of immortality power existing and (2) dramatic effect that allows Oda to show macabre scenes like beheadings without it actually counting.

Otherwise these characters would walk away from most of these same attacks with just scuff marks and shading but no major injury if they didn't have immortality because that's just how OP fights are displayed. So don't interpret all these characters constantly receiving what seems like fatal damage as weakness. Think of them as just logia users that require even more haki to actually hurt.
It's kinda like how half of all the powerscaling in this series comes from ambiguous "clashes". It's not that that's the min-max'd limit of what either fighter can do, it's serving the purpose of either the story (Gunko letting herself get blown up as intimidation) or just because Oda's choosing the most dramatic depiction the rule set will allow. In the case of undying bodies, it feels more like that was thrown in for this very reason. It's d r a m a t i c.

Personally I don't think it's going to be very compelling after this arc, we've already seen hilarious weaknesses to it like simply separating the bodies, and that video-game-ass-glowing-weakspot of a mechano-heart (that the Roger Pirates never seemed to know about despite beating their asses every other tuesday)

I actually think Imu will be the one to leave, we know that he can't be away from home for too long
Well then I guess we can expect this arc to end soon, and then we move on to Blackbeard.

Heard the "Imu is a Seraphim" theory. Interesting. Could be an explanation for a few things.

Uhhhh, aren't Seraphims Vegapunks recent invention? How Imu could be one of them? Beside skin that SEEM to be brown and white hair Imu don't have any traits of Seraphims who are basicaly artificial Lunarians. He didn't even have real wings. So how does that make sense?

Vegapunk is recreating the advanced tech of the past. He himself stated what he has accomplished doesn't hold a candle to what once was. So this theory is that the cloning process that created the seraphim is something that also existed during and before the Void Century.

Appearance is similar to the modern Seraphim.

Comments from the Gorosei, "The great one does not have body that can withstand the outside world" odd comment that could implicate multiple bodies could have been vessels for Imu.

We know cloning was around before Vegapunk was in cahoots with the WG. Weevil is an example here, stussy too. MADS seemed to have the ability.

The WG allows vegapunk to do things for their benefit that is considered taboo. Motherflame is ancient tech that they wanted for themselves, so they let him keep going on that. Seraphim could be a similar case.

So, I'm about to finish Enies Lobby and I "relearned" something incredibly important for the future. Iceburg plan to turn ENTIRE Water 7 into something similar to ship. Or at very least build ship big enough so people of Water 7 could live on it without fearing that one day Aqua Lagoona will sink them all. That's HUGE in the light of incoming purging of the world planned by WG or rather Imu himself. I actually can't believe that first signs of Imus plan to sink the world and start anew were out there all the way back in Water 7. It will take me some time but with manga knowledge I need to revisit whole anime to see how important for future events were some old things.

Highly unlikely.
An interesting theory doesn't mean something is likely to be true, this is something that is done all the time.
What makes it a requirement for Imu to be a Seraphim? Nothing.
He is from the Nerona family, what evidence is there that the Nerona family are apparently Seraphims?

Appearance is similar to the modern Seraphim.
King isn't a Seraphim though.
Seraphim are just hybrids of different races of Bucaneer genes, Lunarian genes, and a DF.
And Imu doesn't have Green blood either. He's not a cyborg.
All Imu has is dark skin, are all dark skinned people in One Piece Seraphim? Usopp? Blackbeard?

The WG allows vegapunk to do things for their benefit that is considered taboo.
. Motherflame is ancient tech that they wanted for themselves, so they let him keep going on that.
They never even knew VP was trying to create renewable energy, I am pretty certain of this. They killed VP the moment they learned he was researching the Void Century.
Franky would be the most feared & wanted if they feared people's ability to create energy. He'd have a higher bounty than Robin and be considered a bigger threat than Robin.

The Motherflame was never mentioned to be forbidden technology nor has energy been considered taboo research.
Please show me where they said this because this is just plain false.

Where in the last 1,000 chapters was it ever mentioned that researching energy was a crime? No where, but yeah, show where it states this because I apparently missed this chapter.
Last I remember, people get killed for learning about the past, even naming anything related to the past... nothing about energy has ever been remotely mentioned or regarded as taboo.

If the WG's goal was energy, they'd have told VP to create that. They recruited Vegapunk to create military assets, weapons and Pacifista. The energy creation was just VP's own project.

Seraphim could be a similar case.
Seraphim are not forbidden technology, they're just upgraded Pacifista.
There's a ton of false claims here. Where is it ever mentioned the Motherflame was forbidden technology?

What is forbidden is studying the Void Century, not producing the Mother Flame.

York didn't report Vegapunk for creating the Motherflame, she reported him for studying the Void Century and that's why they killed him.
All she did was offer leverage to become a Celestial Dragon, and that's using the Motherflame to empower Uranus.
The Motherflame was never claimed to be forbidden nor is it forbidden.
What Vegapunk said was that in order for him to achieve his dream of creating renewable infinite energy, he needed to learn about the Void Century.

If energy was what the WG was so scared of, they be killing all scientists interested in energy - they killed VP solely for studying history as they did the people of Ohara (non-scientists). They only kill historians/archaeologist... anyone interested in history.

I'd like to see these panels and evidence where energy is mentioned as taboo research.

I’ve always thought it was funny that in the next arc Moriah just casually has an island ship.

One of the greatest ship builders of the current age talks about his dream to turn an island into a ship and then we find out some depressed pirate right next door already did it years ago.

Oh yeah, HIM. 🙄 Well I act as if he didn't do that. Even though he DID. Also I still feel like turning Water 7 into ship would be bigger achivement than Moria building Thriller Bark. Mainly because Water 7 is industrial island and if it was turned into ship it would be shipyard on water, fully mobile. Sure, Thriller Bark is big as actual island but it still feels like Water 7 is even bigger.

Water 7 is probably bigger, but Thriller Bark was still pretty massive. Moriah completing Iceburg’s life dream as like step one of his bigger plans and no one even hyping up or acknowledging what a massive feat it was will always get a laugh out of me.

It really makes you realize how much of a small fry Iceburg was.

Ok, rude. He's incredibly successful for regular person in the world filled with mostly strong pirats. He even have bunch of shockingly strong shipwrights as underlings. You literally need some guts to survive in one piece world as normal person. Espesially working as shipwright. Because you know, pirats need ships too and as we seen first hand little bit before we meet Pauli and co that some pirats think they are enough of a big shots that they don't have to pay. And what they got instead of free ship? Severe beating and probably ticket to Impel Down. After all they had to claim that money for their work somehow.

Yeah it's unlikely given the lack of evidence but it is an interesting thing to ponder. The big thing going for it is the fact that we have no idea how ancient tech works, we do know that Vegapunk has somewhat crude implementations of ancient tech. Motherflame is an example.

So if Imu's body is not his original, given the comments on him having a body that cannot withstand being outside Pangaea Castle. He might have a cloned body. Which you'd assume it would be one of the best available at the time with the level of science.

Sorry I don't have more than that, and this isn't my theory at all. Just paraphrasing what I read elsewhere.

"DEVIL POWER" IS "MAKI/OMEN"

Blackbeard hunted down the Darkness fruit because it can absorb "DEVIL POWER" or "MAKI"

Hmm, but bb can also do that to normal devil fruits. Do we believe all devil fruits work via maki? The vibe i get is that for some reason gravity/darkness is able to interact with devil fruirs. With devil fruits operating in a weird place between science and magic in OP I'd guess there's some mechanical way in which darkness is able to interact with some aspect of devil fruit abilities.

Random thought but in regards to Chopper flipping back the Domi Reversi giants.

This is highly implied he is the forest god. Not only the harley text world 2 states roughly the connection between the forest god and dispatching demons.

The fact that a Zoan user's power is affecting things other than itself puts it in the same category of Luffy's fruit and I guess Imu too.

As kaido said that this affect is unheard of for a Zoan user. And we have only seen Imu and Luffy affect things other than themselves as a Zoan user. I suppose there are exceptions like Marco with his Phoenix however, that seems to be a more intentional effect of his attack as opposed to the passive effect like Luffy, Imu and now Chopper.

I guess we will know for sure when Chopper awakens.
