You have no proof he was a newb, you clearly alluded to bounty, otherwise why bring him up? How do you know he's a newb other than the fact he has a relatively small bounty?
How can you claim "Rockstar" level without knowing his strength or what he's capable of or what's he's been involved in?
I corrected myself to satisfy your claim already. What else do you want? Fact of the matter is, Crocodile can be boastful about making a name in the New World but still be weakling compared to big fish. His ambition to take WB's head doesn't prove anything. Any ant could attempt to challenge a big player. Doesn't automatically establish a rivalry or set them on equal footing. One could still be heads above the other.
You added "ever discovered", yet you tried to make out like "random character" was saying something wrong? Then what's your point... he's not saying there are absolutely 5 in existence. People are not well acquainted with the Tontattas. So, Pell isn't wrong. There are DFs that are yet to be discovered. In other words, you made no point in bringing this up.
How the hell should Pell know about the fruits that are not yet discovered? If they are not discovered — they are not known. It's the same thing, buddy. Discoveries are made by people. Pell can't talk about things he himself is not aware of.
It is usually with rather unknown chatacters that we get rumors/opinions that we can doubt. Example: people in Dressrosa saying Luffy was an 8-meter tall giant, drunk guy in Bellamy's crew with an argument that people with higher bounties are stronger.
If we look at the time-line, then we already had 5 flying powers known to exist when Pell made his statement. But that means that for many-many decades, possibly even centuries, in a world where there are two dog fruits, people would only know about two bird fruits? I find it very-very unlikely.
Your overall post was invalid due to the point you tried to make. The point I made was whether couple or few, it was only regarding a minority of the crew. Even your translation says some and that can still be a couple. My point stood nonetheless. Like I said, if you read correctly, you'd see the emphasis was on minority, not the entire crew.
How can "some" or "couple" be a praise to the entire crew? That's ridiculous. It is worth reading into, it's only to you it's conveniently not worth reading into because it doesn't help your argument. Yet, you went on to translate semantically to disprove the point I made. Had it said "entire" crew, would you really say not worth reading into and not have corrected me? You say I'm playing semantics, yet you do the same thing to change the wording to an alternative which means you're playing semantics too... think they call that hypocrisy as you criticise me for being semanticist.
He made the compliment to a minority, not the entirety and that's what I stated from the very beginning.
It's also pretty obvious he failed. Try and Succeeding are 2 different things buddy. The point wasn't to make out like he suceeded, the point was he was able to put up a good fight. And as I said before, to say he couldn't do such a thing with a crew of people as strong as Zoro and Sanji whose shadows he could have made use of to take on Kaido wouldn't have been farfetched and more so with the fact he must have had a massive crew given the sheer size of his ship.
The thing is his ship appears to be very normal size-wise when we are shown his first meeting with Dr. Hogback.
Stating facts is now making a big deal? Please... lol.
Apparently you never experienced a situation in life where you come to a restaurant and praise the chef/stuff for having among other things a few good options in the menu. You could say: you have some good dishes here. You're not necessarily praising each and every dish nor you're critisizing the food you didn't like, but you can absolutely make a general compliment using the word couple/some. If we're talking semantics then it is exactly how that sentence feels.
I think Moriah did have strong nakama, that much I understand, but just how many and how strong could they have been? Strong enough to suffer an utter defeat from Kaido's crew? If you're more or less on equal footing with someone you don't suffer an utter defeat which concludes in losing each and every nakama you had, which then breaks you mentally and leads you to create an army of zombies. It more or less implies that you were in a very disatvantageous position to begin with.
He doesn't seem to have possessed such a huge ship back in the day. Correct me if I'm wrong. Where did you get that idea from? All we know is that his ship used to be an island in the West Blue. Also as I explained before, your exaggerated assumption about the interaction between the crews of Kaido and Moriah requires too much ifs. It's not as easy for Moriah to use Shadow Asgard, as he has to keep the owners of the shadows alive, and also hidden from the sunlight, also he has to make sure they don't wreak havoc on his ship. And if it's not Thriller Bark but just a normal ship then it's not a very good idea to begin with.
And you you make an assumption that because he praised not all but just a few nakama then that absolutely necessarily means he had a fleet consisting of ~100+ around zoro/sanji-level pirates. But if it's just a general compliment and/or acknowledgement of someone's crew then you can't make such bold statements.
What makes you believe he could put up a decent fight? Moriah himself says that strength he had back then was not enough. In fact it was so insufficient that he didn't just lose, but was absolutely crushed by a force allegedly much bigger than his own.
Sure, Kaido had an ambition to become the Pirate King, sure he challenged Kaido, but the alleged gap in strength they had is what we disagree on.
