Nah, no sense to it and Zoro fits more with the gag as he can't harm women and like you guys said he has to protect her. Just how it is and Zoro vs Kanjuro is looking to be that more.

Actually sanji was always the one who helped girl. Sanji helped tashigi against vergo. Sanji helps hiyori against kanjuro. Kanjuro can fly and will be a good opponent for sanji

Zoro can actually harm women, he just chooses not to. If he couldn't harm women, he wouldn't have attacked Monet. Sanji's the only one of the Straw Hats who would not harm a woman. Not sure if this extends to transgender women though, but I hope Oda's not transphobic.

I'm going to say that he wouldn't. At least, not anymore.

I don't think Oda is transphobic at this point, but he did have some highly questionable portrayals with the Okama and Sanji's behavior towards them. Plus, Sanji had to have fought 99 of the Newkama Marital Artists to get his ship so...yeah.

I do think Oda has changed though, with Okiku being the prime example of a positive change. And considering Sanji correctly identifies her as a woman, having rescued her along with the rest of the ladies when Kaido attacked Oden's castle, I think he's changed to reflect Oda's current thoughts, but now in a more positive manner.

He was training, but we've seen that, even in life or death situations, Sanji wouldn't attack a woman. The only time he has was against Big Mom, but that was him defending his sister. So I highly doubt he would break his oath for even a training exercise.

It may have been played as a joke, but the sheer disgust Sanji showed towards them is still not a good look. I know there are some people who hate Sanji purely because of this.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned Oda having changed recently. Okiku is the best portrayal of a trans character in the series so far and has been treated with respect.

Him saving Okiku and treating her as a woman is a definite step in the right direction considering his character. We still have a bit of ways until the end of the series though, so yeah, I hope he keeps it up.

This. Zoro didn't enjoy to fight women, but at some point he would fight back

It's not transphobic to not be attracted to someone

Besides, Sanji has always shown to like some specific type of body. I'm sure he would run from Big Mom the same way he did from the drag queens

It's funny. I won't project my beliefs onto a fictional character. But the idea of accepting everyone is still new to the modern wall. & One Piece imo shows all angles..There are those that support and those like Sanji who are phobic..

I personally think it's super funny, in relation to his character. I dont mind Sanji being discriminative In this case.

I’m always left with this doubt about Sanji training... I don’t know, but seems like he’s got raped by the Okamas, but it’s a shounen manga, it will never be openly stated.

Speaking about Sanji training makes me remember when the SH comeback after the time skip, so many expectations in that time... I’m still waiting to learn more about anything that Sanji or the others SH learn in that time
