This is becoming special education.

like seriously. We are dissecting the simplest pages & scenes, these days. Just to prove obvious delusional statements wrong. When does it stop.
Sometimes it's about the journey and not the destination.

Do you realize the SBS that he posted does not say what you say it does, right?
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Oda is saying that Sanji had to use his kicking strength to stop the punch because a simple block wouldn't have sufficed; it's simply explaining why he threw a kick. It does not say nor even hint that Sanji could match her punching power alone.

Ignoring what Oda is saying with the paragraph and what he's answering to, to focus on that single short sentence out of context is beyond selective reading.

As we saw in the very same panel Oda is talking about, it took Sanji's DJ kick + G3 Luffy attacking together to stop that punch.

So indeed, @King Moe, you're talking nonsense and making things up. Please don't even try to insist on twisting Oda's words even further. A healthy debate becomes impossible if we let that be.
YOu know you don't have to respond to posts? You can't ignore posts as a mod but you have the choice to not respond and encourage stupidity, and often in cases like this, we're all better off if people don't bother responding.

I never got that memo...
I did. :( Gotta make sure it adheres to the rules.

In any case, I hope we get to see Sanji take on Queen and show just how strong he is. Dude deserves a better treatment after all the clutch things he's done in Part I, and even on WCI.

Oh...well, thankfully the folks I had on ignore are banned.

He'll get his. It's been a hell of a wait for sure, but Oda keeps him in the loop power wise. Especially considering the fact that he had an entire chapter dedicated to his power up just like Luffy had for Ryou and Zoro had for Enma. Something is going to come of it.

I'm not sure, given how Sanji's been treated. Wasn't he the only Straw Hat on Fishman Island to not have a solo fight? Which served no point as alone, he could have beaten Watatsumi easily. Then on Punk Hazard, he didn't have a decisive victory, both ran away to more important stuff. And on WCI, he didn't look on par as he used to, so yeah. I hope I'm wrong though.

SO far, Zoro hasn't done much with Enma, Kaidou's still standing while Zoro's not.

Nami didn't have one on Fishman Island. Both her and Robin were pretty much off to the side. Jinbe as well since he shared with Sanji.

Not saying that he couldn't have used more decisive fights, he definitely could have, but Oda has always tossed him something his way. They are crumbs in the grand scheme, but he's always made sure Sanji has something to show or, at least, imply that he's still a major pillar in the crew. Oda even had Luffy pretty much say Sanji's strength is key for their success against Kaido back in Zou (the whole Sanji is worth 1000 men line) when the Minks were questioning whether or not it'd be worth it to go retrieve him. More recently you had the whole taking out the 2nd and 3rd strongest scene with Queen as he looked at both him and Zoro's bounties. He has to get something.

Not really the place for this discussion, but Zoro's done enough to prove that it was a worthwhile get for him. The build up it had throughout the entire arc and well into the fight against Kaido makes me think it was a key aspect in helping Zoro (seemingly) awaken his Conqueror's haki and land his own scarring blow to Kaido.

In FI, Sanji kinda one-shot his enemy as Jimbei didn't matter much, in PH, Sanji did handle off Vergo while nerfed, so still feats on that side. WCI, he still show dominance over Oven on sending him flying without him seeing him and Daifuku who couldn't harm ship because of him even when using Giant Haki Body Genie. I do agree though he hasn't have full fights yet, but he will be getting them in this arc. He defeated a T6H on his side, so you can't say that on him not doing anything when he has.

What you mean on the Zoro part there?

Jinbei doesn't count since he's not Sanji and wasn't really a member yet, to be fair? Robin and Nami aren't fighters either, whereas Sanji is all of that. But the Monster Quartet deserved their own fights, no? Luffy and Zoro got it, and so should have Sanji and Jinbei. The fight didn't show him as a big pillar given Jinbei could have easily won on his own too.

What has Sanji shown though to back Luffy's statement up? I mean, we're debating for pages on pages whether Sanji beat Page One, and on WCI he didn't really win a fight or showed much combat feat other than speed. Even Nami did some damage to Big Mom.

Did he really though, if he hasn't won a fight yet either?

He has won fights though and shown dominance to enemies. The issue being is that he hasn't gotten more full-fights and it's evident he defeated PO given he never came back from the fight and Drake and Hawkins were only ones doing mission.

I mean you can't expect Sanji harm Big Mom given she is a woman, but doesn't mean he gotten stronger on his side.

I think Sanji has shown the ability to repel threats in TNW. Not neutralize them, but repel them.

He speed-kicked Oven and saved Chiffon's dad, clashed with Vergo to hold him off a bit, in the bath-house he repelled Drake and Hawkins, helped repel the threat of Orochi (trying to kill Tama) at Yasuei's execution, repelled Page One when he came for the Soba stand owner (from attacking his friends), etc.

It'll be refreshing to see him win a fight against Queen or someone of similar calibre and objectively KO his opponent (with no room for debate as to whether it happened).

I can understand why Luffy said that. I've always thought of Sanji as more an optimization of strategy in tandem with power. He's not as strong as Luffy or Zoro but he can be equally as effective when you combine the things he does with his power (doing things like saving Momo from under King and Queen's noses, being Mr. Prince in Alabasta, etc..)

I'd really like to see that side of him in Wano. Not necessarily some crazy power-house fight, but doing something strategic and effective that earns the alliance a win. Like Tama for instance is 100% strategy optimized. She can't beat anyone in a fight, but provides a critical role in the overall war. Sanji should be a mix of that and raw strength.

I wouldn't put Zoro on tier with Luffy. Luffy is gap over everyone in the crew. Zoro is more closer he is with and both were discussed to reach YC lvl this arc just like Luffy be reaching Yonko level on his side.

Sanji is more of smart fighter which he is can be tactical while having raw strength, so I do agree what ou mean there. He might be facing bit more on King given if we going by story perspective, King probably want to get back on Sanji and Queen maybe on Zoro for early interactions, but still debating with his injuries if he can face YC and still situation with Orochi with Zoro on that subject.

Eh, I'd count it. Jinbe was all but confirmed to be a member by the end of the arc. He was basically on layaway until Wano. Robin is more of a fighter than Chopper and Ussop yet those two got highlighted over her.

It really wouldn't have mattered given the fact that the New Fishman Pirates were fodder for the crew to show off against. It would have been nice to see them get a solo fight, but they shared a roided out giant fishman. Oda obviously felt that that was enough for the two of them.

Like I said, I can't defend him in that regard, but that why I just have to trust Oda's words through Luffy and Queen. His feats are paltry for sure, but Oda keeps giving him enough lip service that I'm willing to believe that he'll get his fight soon enough in this war that'll justify it.

His entire performance on the rooftop against Kaido proved more than enough, in my opinion. It's also exceedingly likely that he'll be patched up enough to fight King. Folks think Marco is going to be the one to take him on, but this entire saga has been building up the Next Generation taking down a Yonkou and I cannot see Marco, a member of the old generation, taking the spotlight.

I can understand why Luffy said that. I've always thought of Sanji as more an optimization of strategy in tandem with power. I think Luffy truly meant that Sanji had crazy strength. He's not on the level of explosive strength like Luffy and Zoro, but his fights usually show that the accumulated hits from his kicks are significant, which is where his combos come in. That's also where the tactical stuff that you mentioned does play a part as, at least Pre Time Skip, a lot of Sanji's attacks aimed for different weak points in the opponents' defenses.

I don't think his previous strategic inclinations in major arcs bar him from also having a power-house fight since Oda's shown he can easily juggle the two before. Mr. Prince preceded his fight with Mr. 2 and his fight with Jabra preceded his big brain moves at the end of Ennis Lobby. He can do both. Hopefully, he will here too.

That said, the way things are looking, I'd say him having the fight and that being his only contribution is the likelier outcome at the moment. Especially when Tama is in play doing her own big brain strategy. Plus Law is around and Oda tends to give him the more tactical role nowadays. Now that I bring him up, I'd actually really like to see the both of them come up with a plan together to help the alliance.

I still don't see why King go for Zoro over Sanji who more issued than injured person. Queen seems more suitable for Zoro especially both are on the ground.

Luffy assure his power is needed and pretty sure Zoro was jealous given try to insert he is stronger when reality both compete on same tier. I do agree that Luffy is on another tier compare to them.

That's not enough though, he needs to neutralize again. He's been neutralizing threats one way or another (beating opponent or outsmarting them), and he should be doing that even now, given his standing. Instead, we're debating his strength, whether he's still part of the Monster Trio, and whatnot. Wouldn't Sanji be one of the few, if not the only crew member, to not win his own fights? Maybe Robin since she worked with Nami and let Diamante have his revenge.

I agree, I really hope to see that. We expect great things from Luffy, while we expect Zoro to fight even though he's wounded. Sanji isn't as badly wounded, he should be able to take on Queen or even King.

Is it enough though? I mean, Luffy was the only one who got a serious fight until now, whereas Zoro defeated his opponents, and Sanji... didn't do much other than protect or block. One fight he had on Punk Hazard, he didn't win. On Zou he beat fodders, while on WCI, who'd he beat? I mean, didn't the other crew members have their own fights more than him? Even Chopper against Brulee.

Trusting Oda's words does little when he shows otherwise. Sanji is strong, but where's the proof? What has he shown that makes the hype real? I'm hoping he'll prove it this arc, I want to see Sanji dominate and come up with strategies to save his crew, as usual.

Again, I can't defend any of that. He's gotten a raw deal. I don't think it's enough, but there isn't anything I can do about it. This brings me to my next point...

That is literally all that I, as a Sanji Fan, can do at the moment. Trust that Oda will treat Sanji with respect like he did in the major pre time skip arcs. He's given Sanji just enough to prove that he isn't completely excluded from being a strong fighter and a major pillar in the crew. His current resume in the New World sucks to put it lightly, but Oda keeps up with the hype and hints. It has to pay off eventually. Sanji is a part of the next generation and has been the 3rd strongest crew member in the crew for the longest time. Patience is running thin, but I still have enough to get me through to the end of this arc. But if Oda doesn't deliver...

That's up to Oda to figure out. Either way, there are like 3 allied doctors inside the castle now, one of them is bound to fix up Zoro enough that he's in a condition to fight. And, unless Kaido has a surprise 2nd in command, he's going to be fighting King because that's the pattern every major fight in the series has been following since Alabasta.

There is nothing wrong with Sanji fighting Queen, especially given the fact that the power difference between the two is likely as big as the difference between Kaku and Jabra, which was pretty much negligible.

Yep, and that is my issue with what's going on with Sanji, as a Sanji fan. It is also why hypes and hints don't matter anymore because Oda hasn't backed it up at all. I actually wouldn't mind him and Jinbei being on an even footing, or Sanji eventually getting stronger than Jinbei, it makes sense. Plus out of the Monster Trio, he has the best fighting style, so I'd love to see more of that.

Hype and hints are all we've got at this point. Take away that and all we've got left is the memories of Mr. Prince and The Hunter. Fine memories, yes, but new ones would certainly be welcomed.

He definitely has the best fighting style. It's why he became my fave.

As a Sanji fan. I’m in Limbo until Oda gives me something tangible.

I find measly pleasure in the Nose Dive Bomb survival from King. Seeing how king repelled his kick.

I’m lost as to what roll Oda is having him play PTS

I 100% think Sanji will get a significant fight. Sanji has always been tiered above Franky. If Franky is fighting Sasaki, then Sanji will fight someone above him, IMO.

One of the things that gets misconstrued about me is being a Sanji hater. I'm definitely not. I just want "cool Sanji" back. Sanji in the pre-timeskip. When he came out of the water and beat the ever-living-fuck out of that Fishman Karate guy, saying that Zeff's kicks must have been level 1000, that was badass. When he talked about being the hunter when dealing with Jabra.. I feel justified in saying his New World performance is not much stacked up against his pre-TS performance. Whereas we've seen other characters reach higher peaks, Sanji has seemed to plateau until recently. To elaborate, we got to see Franky take out a Fishman in one blow, show off all his new gadgets for the Sunny and himself, then take out Baby 5 and Buffalo (who were hyped up as badass assassins at the time by Doflamingo) in a 2v1, basically toying with them in a hilarious fashion, then take out Senior Pink in a manly battle of blows. Franky is one character who I was "meh" about pre-TS, but quite like now. Another character like that is Brook. He's been one of my top-3 post timeskip. Calling BM a young lady, his hilarious new ghost abilities, his fight with that Paint Lady, and his hierarchical supremacy over homies have put him in a good place.

From the strategy perspective what I'd honestly really like to see is Sanji finding Kaido's treasure room. It's not necessarily strategic for the war, but he's now a stealth unit, essentially. This is where it gets tricky. Is Law really aiming to be Pirate King, or is he more of the Whitebeard to Luffy's Roger who will help Luffy become Pirate King, even though they're sorta rivals? If it's the latter, then I could see Sanji locating, and then Law moving the Road Poneglyph, and Kaido's Hoards of treasure onto their ships. It could be a moment of badassery for Sanji similar to when Usopp got the "five star rating" from Doflamingo (one of my favorite scenes, ever).

I think he'll win his own fight. Otherwise why did they write in him getting a RAID suit? We went from Dressrosa thinking Sanji was some nobody with no real background who just happened upon a pirate ship. Very similar to Coby. We then learn that he's born into a family that breeds / forges their own super assassins, which is known as something of an Apex Evil Org in North Blue. We find out his dad has connections to Caesar, and Vegapunk.

I'm about 99% sure Sanji is going to fight Queen. Hell, Sanji's past is why I think he'll fight Queen. Queen seems like he might have been a corrupt WG Scientist at some point. He's modified his body and knows his way around a lab. He also knows of Judge. I think it's a perfect set up for the two. I'd find it hilarious if Queen has some grudge against Judge similar to Chinjao's grudge against Garp, and tries to take it out on Sanji who hates Judge. Queen is a comedy character (while being serious too), and Sanji usually does well with those. I mean hell he had Mr. 2, Jabra, Duval, the whole Kamabakka Island situation, his first mermaid encounter was that ol' hag in Water 7 saving him at Enies Lobby. I could easily see some trope between Sanji and Queen, with Queen constantly calling him "Judge's son" and it pissing him off. I could even see Sanji tell other's to leave Queen to him.

I mentioned before Queen is a very strategic target too. He's got bioweapons at his disposal. I know certain people WANT him to fight King just for the "Kaido's second hand man" argument, but honestly I feel like King is way less consequential to the overall battle than Queen. He flies around and uses a sword. Cool. Queen unleashes horrifying pandemics, shoots lasers out of his mouth, and has zombie viruses at his disposal.

The nose-dive thing was Sanji fan-service. Similar to his encounter with Page One. It showed he can play at the big boy table now. Instead of getting his leg fractured, or nearly impaled to death (Doflamingo), he's surviving blows and maneuvering around opponents.

Based on other characters getting fights I would say Sanji is definitely going to get a Satisfying one.
