I don't think it's out yet for another three weeks.
So when Maka hears that she's an angel, even if it's only in one sense, she really wants to live up to that, because that might make her more than what she is. Or what she thinks she is. She wants to feel good about herself.
I think it's from an inferiority complex. We know she's self-conscious about being not-so-well-endowed...plus there's her partner who lives with her, always whining about her shortcomings, that does a lot to wear down one's self-esteem. Then there's the fact that her family is incomplete, she's not on good terms with her father, she just lost Chrona, and with it, her belief in the kindness of parents. There's a lot going on with Maka, which makes her feel down.Well, Maka seems kind of determined to be one.
